  • excellentay ;)

  • Woah! Great bass cover!

  • its the kind kind of thing you do when you run out of party tricks and there are still people to entertain lol

  • Comment removed

  • This is badass, respect bro.

  • i dont know why some people say it sounds wrong. it sounds EPIC

  • you are rock! D&G aren't rock....D&G sucks!

  • @tiapunkskater94 That's stupid. How do you manage to compare fashion design and rock? D&G clothes look awesome; Muse rocks, and that's it.

  • Please have your E string any looser :L

  • Show-off

  • Che effetti usi?

  • gay...totally lose the subdivision this way..ur job as a bassist is to drive to beat..not just play along...

  • dolce and gabbana hello.

  • VERY GOOD

    NUNO FLORES

  • it's just a simple distortion i think

  • @varthdaderable TELL ME YOU CAN'T HEAR THE SYNTH/LOWPASS???

  • Awesome! :)

  • For god's sake do a tutorial video man, and for all us on Utube.

  • i think im drowning

    asphyxiated :)

    damn nice man damn nice

  • bravissimo!!!

  • perfect x) ^_-

  • hiya ive been watching your vids i love the way u play ive just done my first bass cover and was hoping if u could check it out for me and tell me what u think

    thanks x

  • Nice tapping, now what effects are you using? :p

  • how do you figure? matt belamy himself plays riffs on the neck like this (using a guitar of course)

  • Comment removed

  • holy shit hahaha fair play

  • very cool the taping effect and i can watch how you do this exercise :D ty

  • it's not tapping if you pick the string

  • if only you knew how to tap.

  • awsome cover dude

please send me the tabs cause that's fuckin' sick

  • good. 5 star... but this song is easy...

  • Nice mind sending tab if possible not trying to trouble ya brotha. i think thats a sick tap out originally its not tapped but thats sicker.

  • just watch his fingers

  • why do u use only one finger when u dont tab? just wondering

  • what strings do u use?

  • italians do it better XD ottimo lavoro

  • sure it sounds like it here... but listen to it in the same room the difference would be clear as day. not saying it doesn't sound good.. but the real TIRO sound is so much more incredibly deep and synthetic than any typical bass fuzz sound. you really have to listen to it with some good headphones (not those shite ipod phones either!)

  • I have a bass "Maxine", is good?

  • I swear I have the same bass. Is that an Ibanez SR300DX?

  • I like Muse

  • I never thought that bass line would be so intricate

  • How much did that shirt cost?

  • lol

  • for this song chris uses a big muff pi and a deep impact. BMP's are around 80 bucks i think but DIs are expensive (if you can find one)

  • note its a Big Muff pi Russian ;D

  • i believe they are identical apart from the case, but your right. I have the EHX version and it sounds awesome

  • Sei un grande a suonare però migliora il tuo inglese...VIVA L'ITALIA!

  • Comment removed

  • sweet can you please post the tabs

  • good stuff

  • what the hell? YOU CAN SEE HIS HANDS

  • tht gives a sweet sound!:D what effects u usin? or is tht part of ur amp?

  • its just distortion..

  • That's pretty sweet man.

  • dude this stuff is awsome. this is the nxt song im learning with the same distortion as u.

  • its good excellent but, its better with big muff bass and with out tapping sounds perfect good try sound very good

  • That was awesome 5/5

  • dude this is awsome

  • fuking amazing

  • =O --- TU ERES FABULOSO.. BIEN

  • this is cool, but i dont think thats how chris recorded it... if you watch videos of him playing it live hes never tapping.... and if he was tapping it wouldt balance right with the sound level of matts voice and the guitar part.

  • You, sir, are totally correct.

  • good job btw

  • Baddass dude.

  • nice watch by the way :)

  • have u got the tab?

  • skill

  • incredible

  • tab?

  • alot of these ppl are assholes , nice job man it sounds sick i just started doing tapping yetsterday on my schecter studio 5 string i figured out the whole erruption solo on bass haha it was funn but my fingers hurt keep it up man ur good

  • im sorry but that seems like sort of an ass-faced comment to make. music isn't about impressing people. its about impressing yourself.

  • so true man well put

  • wrong and right, music is anything you want it to be.

  • that true most music is about expressing your feelings even rab which i hate has feeling in it

  • soz rap i ment*

  • dude, I don't know why you're rated that low, because you are totally correct. I learnt this my second year playing.. this is one of the easiest bass riffs of Muse, point being, if u want to learn how to tap, give yourself a challenge so you actually learn.. (KoC, Hysteria, New Born i.e.)

  • Is it easy to learn bass? Please tell me,because I want to learn how to play bass!

  • It's easy to learn, but hard to master :)

In my opinion, good bassists distinguish themselves more than good guitarists.

Just start playing, and while doing it, find a song you can't see how you're ever gonna be able to learn, but practice on it because you love that song, and eventually you WILL learn it - and a LOT skills on the way ;)

  • I'm a guitar player, but I've played bass in bands. I went to college for music and I agree. Bass players are kinda underappreciated. The most important function is to help the drummer keep time. When you have a lesser bass player, If affects the whole band. Plus low end is essential To fill out a bands sound. look at John entwisle. Townshend always gave him props. He was integral to the Whos sound.

  • Indeed:) And one frequently used mistake is to speed up the beat while playing..

  • @SousSherpa

Honestly, I feel everyone should help each other keep time. My drummer is the best out of the band with time though, ha ha. Generally the bass is used to make the flashy stuff sound even better by keeping the groove.

Where did you study music at, if you don't mind my asking?

  • @Prof3ssrBrando I agree with that statement. I went to Five towns college. I have a B.M. in Jazz commercial music-concentration in performance.

Bass tunings come from double basses in orchestras (they are tuned in fourths,obviously)- but orchestras musicians don't improvise ( there are instances where they do).

Jazz/rock/pop/ players do. So that can give the bass player an outlet. You still need them to help keep the bottom and keep time ("keep the groove"-as you say.)

  • @SousSherpa

Oh yeah? Did going there really help your music

playing or more of give you the ability to create

more structured compositions? I've heard various

reports for different people, some say it just helped their technique, others their abilities as a composer.

Oh yeah, man. Orchestras are dead on. Much

respect for orchestras, so many musicians striving for one sound.

Yeah, I'm still learning on constructing solid

bass lines. I'm a very busy bass player. :P

  • @Prof3ssrBrando It's different now then when I went. All the Professors are gone by now. They were all working jazz musicians. It was more concentrated on music back then.

What I learned as far as music theory and notation and composition and improvising is priceless to me. I still have the textbooks.

I don't have much space to answer in the 'comments' section. Bass playing has evolved so much since orchestras. I think it might have been overshadowed by the guitar.

    Which has also evolved.

  • @SousSherpa yeah but townshend always said he was almost more like a keyboard player than a bass player in a structural sense

  • Comment removed

  • yes it is

  • I tap New Born :D I was having problems with the left hand then I saw a guy on youtube who did tapping lol, I've only been playing a year and I can already play like all of Muse songs, they rule!

  • That's cool :) Remember to learn plucking too ;p After all that's how they are originally played :D Good job!

  • good job!

  • whats up with your "E" string?lol its sooo loss?is it tuned d or something?

  • I thought this was pretty cool

  • wats the point. uve just made the song harder. tbh i think ur a tit.

  • Agreed, doesnt even sound right either.

  • It's not that hard to tap

  • It's just a technique to learn if you don't have a keyboard.

If you're not even in a band that preforms live, it's of no use to you at all.

  • Hey, i'm sure you've been asked this a billion times but i can't find the answer in the comments, what effects where you using on this video, that's some sweat tone. What pedal please?

  • i simply used a virtual effect by my pc. a simple distortion. thank you for your comment

  • wow, really nice, can you do tab for this ? i would really larn this ;] it sounds beter than a normal play

  • Why complicate it?

  • nice shirt xD

  • lol i can play this but im only 13 so i have short arms and my wrist hurts:P

  • if ya wanna tap summat, tap the synth bit in knights of cydonia

  • nice but it's is not very difficult to play this song

  • I'd like to see you tap the Hysteria info :D

  • What the fuck was the point of that?

  • mio nonno se usa la dentiera la suona meglio...

  • okay so you can tap with two hands.. but what has this accheived that playing normaly wouldnt? If anything it has degraded the smoothness of the bassline. I would keep at it, but try something that actualy needs two hands, like the piano part to ruled by secrecy. That's really good tapping practice.

    all the best man

  • you saying u don't need 2 hands for bass? well tru if u just wanna tap on the bass all the time. what about plucking? thats need the other arm? just think carfully bout what u put

  • geil\

  • ur good i play guitar to ur bass playing...

    id give u five stars

  • wow thats sick

  • damn i need to learn to do that.

  • sorry if this is amm dumb

but all bass can do that ?

    ( i mean the tapping ) the

effect its by a pedal right?

    sorry im less 12and i want a

    bass

  • yes they all can man, hes also using an effect to get that distortion sound but it can be done without it too

  • AHA also big muff fans. i Have the little big Muff Pi and i love it to play for whom the bell tolls on my fender :p and nice played man btw keep on practicing

  • cool

  • i have a quastion my brother wil not play bas in our band gos hey thinks it is boring first and to hard later but as i hear did i think its realy cool i dont know off its hard but is is to learn i think but is hey richt or is he totaly not richt ???

  • Slap your brother.

  • FOR ME TOO!

  • it depends what lines he gets, time is running out isn't stupidly hard, whereas stuff like hysteria (i'm sticking to muse presuming you know em) isn't the easiest thing in the world. please do slap your brother :)

  • cool

  • nice :D

  • that was awsome!

  • haha pretty cool:D like it

  • haha, dude, that was definitely awesome.

    nice going on the playing.

  • the real effect chris uses is called deepimpact synth pedal

    its brill m8

    nice cover(Y)

  • wha? I thought he used a Big Muff

  • Hahahah. Bug muff. -_-

  • What so funny, I love playing with my Big Muff.

    :D

  • na its a synth called deep impact mabe with a big muff ill need try one out myself

but i like big muffs:) ;)

ther good pedals on both guitar and bass

  • i like your technique as you do get quite a distoted/synthy tone as like in the song but i prefer to use the walking bass line

    thanks for sharing though =D

    5 stars!

  • just to hop in on the pointless debate... i agree that a pick is a way to have a cool sound sometimes, but i think if a bass player only uses a pick, he's limiting himself... mark hoppus of blink182 pretty much got me started, but i finger pick mainly and i think now that he's not that great of bass player...but i mean, it depends on what you like or why you play...

  • pick are another way to create a different sound ..like slapping

  • the guy from tool uses a pick - he rules, the band rule. anyone who says otherwise is retarded.

  • kinda ironic cos the name tool is a bit retarded but for all intent and purposes fair enough

  • It's a sin to distort bass

  • Lies. I love my muff. ;)

  • its a sin to play bass with a pick, distorting is ok though

  • distortion is fine in some cases... picks are... should be banned!

  • you're all wrong, on all counts. Distortion is fine. This shit sounds wicked - like metallica's Anastesia. Anybody who says that's not ok is not ok. And there are situations where using a pick is not only ok, its must. Sheesh. you kids these days. you hear one person say something that resembles a thought, and immeditely you repeat it, just like a monkey. This aint monkey see monkey do motherfuckers.

  • ever heard of blink 182? mark uses a pick

  • ummm, alot of rock bands use picks......and b182, to me, does not speak BASS. rise against does

  • ohh its all clear now... thats why they suck so bad! XD

  • yes i have....ooow and there SHITE !

  • It's a sin to create "rules" such as "it's a sin to distort bass" or "picks should be banned". They're both means to an end, namely how the PLAYER decides how they would like to be heard. Imagine AIC's "Would?" played without a pick... imagine Type O Negative without distorted bass. Everything has it's time and place.

    ~Sincerely, a fingerstyle/pickstyle/effect-happy bassist. ;-D

  • i agree with you, there are no real rules, you play it the so called "wrong" way, you might just end up having a career by it cause you sound new and fresh haha! i always thought that! FINALLY someone else said it!

  • is it me or ur E string is a tad loose??? it seems to flop

  • its you.

  • ....thanks

  • its so easy to play, why should he fake it?

also u hear the slide, so there must be a sound from the bass

    f*cking noobs

  • dude thats awsome!

can you play the intro to Butterflies and Hurricanes?

  • Awesome! That's exactly how the synthed part of TIRO goes... as far as I know its two separate layers - that and clean bass. Only difference is I dont think it was made on bass but on a synthesizer/keyboard.. still cool though :)

  • Dude, its played on a bass through an Akai Deep Impact effects pedal. Its all bass.

  • Good boy it is actually played on a synth keyboard...he uses the Akai for live performances along with other distortion/fuzz effects...cool video btw

  • yea wtf are you on about jujufucka? its not blink 182 we're talkin bout at all... smell of lack of knowledge off you!

  • Not that I have much time for fan boys like you, but, I'm getting to see them backstage this Wednesday, because I know the promoter. I guess its not what you "know" but who you "know". What's that I smell.....envy? ZIIINNG

  • Last time I checked performing a song live still fell within the definition of "played". Number of times played live vs number of times in the studio: 100 to 1.

  • is this played in drop d?????

  • Nay, standard tuning.

  • ya hes playing for sure but stupid watch so you loose my praise haha, but then my videos are all stupid anyway so how cares

  • wow

  • For all of you who say this guys not playing your retarded...when he starts the song you can hear a difference in the level of bass from the opening measure until he jumps in half-way through the measure...play more/bitch less

  • muse is such a great band...

check out my bass tapping video

    "the red bull by fingersmoran"

  • thanks michelle you own.

  • Dear TurdSandwich: You can hear the noise of the string hitting the fretboard due to the tapping, and occasionally the fingers sliding on the strings, which is not present in the original song. Also, keep in mind that YouTube sometimes can desync video/audio, which can give the impression that the video is fake.

  • umm do you know how tapping works? first off i see vibrating, and second its quite obvious he is playing. as a fellow bass player its pretty easy to see. sorry guys.
