Whether or not *I* am afraid of Chimps was never what we were talking about, and don't say you didn't know that. What I WAS making clear was that people like yourself do have a somewhat irrational fear of chimps.

Well yes, I said that sort of tongue-in-cheek. By "inhumanely strong" I mean their not that far beyond us, not even nearly incomprehensible - like "vampires" or something, which we would say to be 'inhumanely strong'. I don't mean literally that they're no stronger than any human, just that.. they're physical capabilities still conform to our everyday experience, and conception of strength. Or whatever.

but no they arent build the same way as us. their muscles, for example, are much more dense. thats the reason why chimps fear water, they dont float (at least as easy) as humans. but their strength is necessary for them. out in nature they spend all day climbing trees often with 1 hand. even a olympiab gymnast would struggle with a one-hand pullup

Mmmmmm. Granted, they are a different species. But as far as life goes, they're pretty much the same as us. Again, "inhumanely strong" doesn't mean (I didn't mean) literally: "stronger than humans". -I don't have a better word for what I'm trying to say with that. ..We're just not SHOCKED by how strong they are (because it's not THAT strong).
-There's probably about as much difference between us and a chimp, as an adult human male vs. an adult human female. (strength-wise).

I think it's unfair to call them monsters, while claiming that we aren't. The only thing that makes us significantly different from Chimps - in terms of displays of violence - is that we can communicate more effectively, and avoid such violence. If they could talk to each other, I have no doubt we'd see less violence.

@MuayThaiViking The best piece of evidence for that is probably just watching groups of humans who don't communicate effectively. I can't think of any inter-group examples (though presumably in our past there were many), but think of wars. Basically the reason we fight wars is miss-communication. -Sure, leaders are on a conquest mission. But the soldiers who actually fight, fight under the misconception that they enemy is something their not. Imagine if soldiers talked before shooting eachother.

Mate you should look into what chimps have done to humans in unarmed combat. Look up St. James Davis and Charla Nash.
They are incredibly strong and have big ass teeth. Plus they are animals who don't care to rip your entire face off.

Sure, it's a one in a million chance, but only because shark attacks catch humans unprepared and out of guard and before we know it, our arm or leg is gone, but that guy was prepared. He was a surfer dude here in Brazil, I read about it about 5 years ago in a local magazine called Veja.

Yeah fair enough man. I just remembered that one of my second cousins was attacked by a T-Rex back in the day but managed to get it in an armlock (their weak spot) and it tapped out. Also my friend was attacked by a shark here in a local bar in Manchester but he just kept his distance and used the jab until the shark realised that he wasn't in water and that he was in fact, suffocating. Then there was my neigbour who was eaten by a crocodile but was lucky enough...

On a side note, if you ever get jumped at by a chimp, go for its balls - they're huge, can't miss them. If that option is not available because the chimp is already eating your face, try to sneak your fingers into whatever eyes/nostrils/other open soft spots you can reach and tear as much flesh from there as you possibly can. that's all you can really do against a chimp's gigantic brute force.
