  • does anyone want to run call of duty 4 multiplayer on his ubuntu pc? then just pm me.

  • Haha, look at this windowed crap! xD

This was made for Windows... Not for coding nerds :D

  • @dmob85 I hope you die, Troll.

  • CHICKEN??!!!

  • I dont understand. He's satisfied with being able to run cs 1.6 on an 880gts...... I have an HD5770 that I tried running black ops thru wine with and it was a laggy mess....

  • I would have Linux right now because I hate winblows but ATi/AMD is a bitch because they don't support my graphics card anymore

  • what are the graphic settings (i mean resolution , AA , shadows ,......) ? nice vid BTW

  • how to play in full screen

  • @ROACHLAZAROMW2

in game config search for fullscreen

it should be "r_fullscreen 0" make it "1" or if it is "1" make it "0"

  • So I just download WINE and PlayOnLinux, follow that guide at appdb.winehq.org; and I can install CoD4?

  • can someone do a tutorial on cod 4 1.7 server for ubuntu?

i think that will be a big help to the world...not only linux users.

  • how to install it?

  • You could run games even better with XP with the specs you have on that system. You could even be playing the latest games; Geforce 8800 is not too shabby.

  • Look, why did you post this? This is on UBUNTU!!! So don't go spamming all the crap 'bout Windows! It sux!

  • Comment removed

  • Why did you choose Ubuntu, if you think Windows is better for gaming? That's what your saying here. Plus, people put their specs in the description because (I am not saying all) like to brag. But, whatever, that's your opinion, you can do whatever, I'm sticking with Ubuntu.

  • Because I game on my laptop and my desktop is a little older so Ubuntu runs faster than windows on it. I just use the desktop for work. Also, I consider myself somewhat of a geek, so I like to have variety and be somewhat fluent in multiple operating systems instead of just Windows.

  • Alright, I get it. I told you, that's your opinion, I'm sticking with Ubuntu.

  • They should make Linux supporting games, so linux will be used a lot more by gamers and also make programs like Ventrilo, Teamspeak, Xfire... and all others work.

  • I hear someone made an ubuntu version of Ubuntu.... Still in construction, though.

  • Do you guys know how to make it work after patching it up to 1.7? I followed the directions in AppDB but still can't get it to run :(.

  • WoW the power of Linux ;)

  • lol this is great... We have a customer at work who can't play CoD4 on his Windows 7 install even with latest drivers... it just craps out, black screen, crash after about 20 minutes every time. And he doesn't want to go back to XP or Vista. I will show him this.

  • omg i have that same problem only with cod4 though

  • Lol, you know why? Because Windows 7 isn't out yet! The normal user, don't have Windows 7, but still works on XP or Vista. If Windows 7 for real comes out. The makers of CoD4 sure will make a patch.

  • every body could download a rc version

  • OMG! I need this to work on my ubuntu badly!

I have 9.04, and I just don't know how to make to make it work :(

  • Install PlayOnLinux, it has a Call of Duty 4 installation script : )

  • Really? thanks!

  • i have tried using wine, the game actually boots in, but its as if its actually loaded and playable as i can hear all the menus, but i cant physically see anything, does this hav anything to du with direct x or something like this? thanx

  • Hmm, did you follow the guide at appdb [dot] winehq [dot] org?

  • Hey, please help me! I can't get it with PlayOnLinux or with Wine, i would really appreciate it if you would add some details on what you did.

  • trust me it is not playable

  • it is it worked for me before and if you deselect some graphics settings like soft shadow edges it worked perfectly fine with fps >30 in my pc

  • make sure your not installing ubuntu under WUBI i've noticed the speed increases sooooo much more in a dedicated partition...hope it helps ;)

  • its a little choppy but it played the game! =]

  • Are you talking about me playing it? Because this games performance is a lot better when not recording.

  • ohhh ok

so wat did u do just run the game on linux and install using wine?

  • I just installed Ubuntu. Is it possible to play this on linux with;

    768mb ram

    2.93ghz intel celeron

    ATI RADEON X1650 512MB

    70gb hdd

It works with the lowerst settings in youtbe, around 30-50fps.

Also can you run it full screen in ubuntu?

  • Thanks.

  • NP.

  • DaweyYT, which video card are you using?

  • Geforce 8800 GTS 640MB with 169.12 drivers.

  • This game works on Wine without lag?

  • Punkbuster doesn't work (or it kinda works with some patches).

The game runs fine when deactivating some graphical settings. : )
