i will never diss muay thai and i will never diss any martial arts in my life. but teakwondo is a great martial arts and it does have alot of strengths and weakness and so does every martial art. also the big thing to is it depends on the fighter too muay thai in america is 10000000000000 times different and easyer than in Thailand
Muay Thai is pure street fight..no style but just to brutalize your opponent..but not really practical when dealing with weapon or many opponents.trust me you will get knock out when you try to apply this martial art in dangerous situation. Speaking based on real life experience.
@judo153 i been practicing muay thai for years and obviously know what im doing during that situation..and it didn't work..Now i'm trying krav Maga and this stuff really help you to get out of dangerous situation..
@callisto1990 Cool, I think Krav Maga translates better in the street... Although, it boils down to the fighter really. I guess there are also a lot of factors that are unique to dangerous situations. But man, if you can't take out a dudes legs' that has a knife or something and end it with a head kick, you may not be as well trained as you might think...
thats how white guys talk. always about their weight and built advantage. but a thai fighter who has 30 pounds lesser could easily rip their ass apart.
@zombie766 well no.... a thai guy who weighs 30 pounds less but has a lot more experience could but so could a lighter white guy with more experience, u absolute dick
The big guy who hosts should stop saying he's an ex-football player, as if that's some kind of martial art or something? LOL, you ran into people with a helmet and pads on dude.
@Rambo28 Playing professional American football requires alot of strength, especially leg and pectoral strength, is it a martial art? no, but he is far above the average joe in terms of athleticism. It also says he was a wrestler
people who compare martial arts obviously never trained before and are obviously weak little fag tarts who cant do shit other than talk big on the keyboard and never back it up.
There are alot of good martial arts and to the martial arts are alot of gyms to them.
Like Fairtix gym and Boonchu gym for Muay Thai.
Federation and Rhee for Taekwondo.
ETK and Jai thai for Pradal Serey. and so on, they all teach different styles of those martial arts.
You can clearly see that they had some issues with the production team when they've put them up against a MUAY-THAI CHAMPION! Seriously? There's just no pitty for these guys =S
Guys stop arguing which Martial Art is the best. It's all about the fighter. Yes... some styles have different techniques who is more powerful that other techniques (in other styles), but then again.. the other one might be faster. It's all basically the same. The techniques are perfected and calculated to give most damage in every style. It also matters where you trained your techniques (not in a bad gym).
@Ridikhunter Well there is a power gap between some martial arts. For example most of muay thai fighters can easily win against boxer or taekwondo fighters.
@Ridikhunter Martial arts isn't just about the techniques. It's a way of life. A philosophy that you abide by in every day of your life. You can be a very good fighter but a poor martial artist. @xNfamouz Hi. Excuse me for being incorrect :P I didn't mean to say that all Martial Arts is the same, and I know that Martial Arts is a life style also. I'm just trying to get people to understand that Marital Arts is not about being the best, and also that it's impossible to say which one is the greater. I'm tired of reading about "wannabe martial artists" who talk trash about other martial arts.
A wise person once said "Martial art is both a Science and an Art" - sensei
@Ridikhunter Well, sorry. The way you worded it kind of gave the impression that martial arts is mainly for violence. My apologies. ^^; You were stressing too much on techniques. I think the best martial artist is Bruce Lee. His form of Jeet Kune Do is amazing. Basically, you don't limit yourself to certain techniques. You do whatever you want to defend yourself. So, essentially, it was a "style of no style". Very philosophical. :)
@Magienus i always hear tkd suck tkd sucks tkd is bad tkd is shit it isnt shit. i mean i have fought muay thai and won. i am a second dan in tkd it depends on the style of tkd you learn becuz if it is itf then it will be a whole different story who will win and who will lose

@theirishtraitor Its not about these men in specific, I am saying 100 pounds of muscle is a huge advantage. Whether it's Brock Lesnar fighting BJ Penn or Shane Carwin fighting Frankie Edgar or Bob Sapp fighting Kenny Florian just as *EXAMPLES* The size difference is a huge factor. Nothing is everything but everything is something, a lot of skill with little size vs a lot of size with little or decent skill, I say the size still has a huge advantage, thats all, the end. Anything can happen though
@vtguy429 I just want to interject. I definately agree that size does help...but just as a matter of interest look at the Genki Sudo V Butterbean fight. There's a massive size difference there and Genki wins. It's pretty funny. Cheers.
@cutdadek Like I had said, anything can happen, but butterbean is fucking obese the last time I checked. I am talking about real athletes not just guys who can punch.
@theirishtraitor Any warrior without a brain might would tell you size doesn't matter. The fact of the matter is there are weight classes for a reason. The point is, it isn't possible for BJ to impose his will on Brock except from a defensive standpoint, he wouldn't be able to go after Brock, it just wouldn't work. Brock has 100 pounds of muscle on BJ, your crazy to think that isn't going to be a huge factor in that fight. He has a lot of skill, but Brock's size would be too overwhelming. The end
@theirishtraitor I know why they call BJ the prodigy, thats why he was my example of skill, but thanks for that. Now I will ask you if you have seen a Brock Lesnar fight? While its good in theory that he pulls his punches, in fights, he has proved that he doesn't do that at all. BJ Would tie him up?Whats to stop Brock Lesnar from picking him up and slamming or throwing him. Not to mention BJ takes lightweight punches and wrestling, not Heavyweight. If he Can't beat Edgar, than he can't beat Brock
@RTommyR3D Dude, are you kidding me? I hate fanboys as much as the next person. Perhaps if you were literate you would see that I used Brock Lesnar as a mere example of size, and if you think that I have to be some sort of fanboy to point out that he is a 265 pound nothing but muscle monster than your clearly just a hater looking for somebody to hate on. Haters and fanboys, what the comments section of youtube thrives on, I'm neither, which are you?
@vtguy429 If HE was literate? Look who's talking! Are you like 8? Did it ever occur to you that "you're" and "it's" are contractions while "your" and "its" signify possession? The comments section of youtube also thrives on folks who don't know their own language. And about your opinions: do you at least have a crystal globe to try and prove what you're saying?
@metaldesire4 There is a fundamental difference in grammatical errors and completely misreading somebodies comment to bash them. While I appreciate your respect and knowledge of the English language, I'm going to have to kindly tell you to go fuck yourself. You clearly are the hater that I was talking about. At least me and the other people I'm arguing with had something to talk about, your just nitpicking my comment for the hell of it. does it make you feel better about yourself or something?
@vtguy429 "There is a fundamental difference in grammatical errors and completely misreading somebodies comment to bash them." You're doing them both. I won't even bother anymore.
@2sleeping2 a lot of asian arts do. karate, taekwondo, many styles of kung fu, hapkido, even kick boxing. and many of those style also add in some grappling and sweeps. People like to say this and that about a martial art to make it seem unique and special, but in reality its all the same. We all have two arms and two legs and a head. When one truly undestands combat, then one finds style dont really exists. (Bruce Lee)
@Ferior Traditional Chinese martial arts do have the brutality and pracality. Just the traditional version though, not the stuff u se today. I mean those shaolin monks defended thier temples with steel weapons. It doesnt get more brutal then cutting off people's head.
@Ferior Oh definetly but freestyle makes you a complete fighter where as boxing muay thai or even mma are sports and therefore limited, Their not reality based and so don't prove to be most effective in street fights, fluid systems like Krav Maga and jeet kune do are better if you want self defence, or you could do cross training like I did.
check out "Traditional Muaythai, Compliments" and the video by panman... the most effective muay thai fighters are the ones that work on their punches. alot of them dont
@vPanya this is what i figured as well. I think boxing and muay thai (combined) generaly is something you find in the Americas. I figured traditional Thai fighters used more elbows and knees more than anything.
@kenshin9518 Well, that's because it's in the streets, hence no rules. And the second point is that in the Phils. everyone fights dirty. Hardly ever a one-on-one. And people utilize strengthened shoes or belt buckles and balisong. And due to U.S. American help after Marcos, every idiot has a gun at their disposal. That's not fighitng that's madness.
@troj444 Well, but look at the alternative of street children. Parents unemployed, they cannot afford to go to school, because they need to find food or money for them & their parients. Areas like Tondo have a 90% unemployment rate. There are hardly any jobs in the Phils. That's why everyone is trying to become an OFW. If I were in the shoes of those kids, I'd join a gang too. And the others arm themselves to protect themselves from these kids. This way, willingness to do harm just increases.
@troj444 Yes. And our "uneducation" brings even more problems with it. We elect corrupt gov. officials, moan that they are corrupt, but the next election, we choose them again. We literally hate gov. officials that do sth. against corruption. We let our phil. police be a bunch of corrupt uneducated guys (just look at the hostage taking with ppl from HK) our gov. is not even trying to endorse local products & create jobs. This is just hurting me so badly.
@GaolisVideoLog thats what im talking about i think if you own a gun your nothing but a scared bitch who cant fight with there fist and legs, so your relying on cheap excuses thinking your badass
I trained in phuket and met fighters that started training at age 5 to 6 years old and have had 120 to 200 fights before the the age of 20.Much respect!
@vdubwhore NICE I'm almost 19 and only done 15 fights and my boyfriend how is 21 has done 45 fights. We study bokator and Muay Thai but since we are in the U.S. we have to do it on our own since the dojos really water it down
@lovefordante Thats great.U must save up to take a trip to Thailand to really see and feel the love thais have for muay thai as the u.s. love for baseball and basketball.I tell you it will fuel you even more and have a deeper love for the art,Cheers!
@vdubwhore I would love to go back to southeast asia especially Cambodia since my mother was born there and I would love to go to Thailand to study REAL muay thai. Bokator and Pradel Surey is pretty brutal as well
@lovefordante lol,I wish i can learn Bokator and Pradel Surey ,to me that is the purest and true form of the combat art.I have 2 co workers that came from Cambodia in 1972 ,the most kind and giving pp i have ever met.Long live the Khmer.
"because one of us is going to fight a muay thai champoin......" lol, why???? do these guys necessarily have to fight "champoins"? why not just a blue belt, or even beginner just for sparring? what the hell is wrong with these guys heads???? lmao
@freespadersuggs Muay Thai doesn't use belts and the reason they are fighting champions is to show the viewers how effective Muay Thai is. And also it is promoting the sport/martial art to the viewers.
they could simply fight advanced fighters to show how effective muay thai is, and not someone who is the "equivalent of mike tyson". if by your reasoning and as you say they are trying to show how effective the art is, then it would be better just to fight a well trained good amateur. and my statement of using belts isn't really the issue, the issue was the level of the fighter.
Ah, I see your point. But it would be better for them to fight a champion as he is more experienced and better at the martial art than the well trained good amatuer. And in your sentence 'amatuer', he is less experienced than the champion.
@cleoluvrats enough with that shit dude. not all americans think that way. so keep that shit to yourself. we all know skill owns strength anyday. i know that, i am small and i owned people twice my size because of skill.
@cleoluvrats No. Skill does not Own strength any day. Skill and technique ENHANCES strength, if you do not have enough strength, but good technique. A man who has brute strength and barly no technique is equal to that of no strength but good technique.
@cleoluvrats I get what your saying but with your logic BJ Penn could beat Brock Lesnar, which is not even close to reality. In reality, size matters but skill matters more, but neither owns the other.
@KurosakiKichigo653: Martial arts started out has hand to hand combat for wars in the past and present. In the past century, people decided to use it for formal competitions. With that came rules and restrictions for fighting. That's when it came to be a sport.
All martial arts had their roots in the Battlefield. But now they are sports.
@aa3gunner yes my friend , i understood that... but that means that WAR also became a game ;) the whole thing i am talking about is philosophical and it has a very deep meaning... what i am trying to conclude at is that , War is not a game , Martial arts are all about war, they make the human body a weapon (that's the series anyway :P) , and we shouldn't play with weapons... War is not a sport! we are waaaay to arrogant , we the people of today!
After watching countless Human weapon episodes and Fight Quest episodes... Fight quest kicks ass. Doug anderson can kick jason chambers ass any day. Sorry for those who like human weapon its just what i think. go ahead and diss fight quest idc.
haha 3 min. na lmfao grab throut put pressure then move up an down three times then pull forward then bak an that how u do it trust me i know can u open ur indorphines when u want to i dont think so lol u got a long way to go "buddy" lmao.....................!
I dont care what does people say. I love muay thai. It teaches me more than just defend myselfe or "destroy" anybody in 10 seconds. it gives harmony to my soul and inner peace. I learned to kill fear and pain. It gives me health and stamina. I've learned to behave myselfe under sterss and pressure. I can take over conflicts more calm than ever. It is more than just brutal cold fight it is inner peace and harmony. The best point of my day when i enter the ring.
The best way to describe why someone loves thai, kick boxing, boxing or whatever one likes to train in.I totally respect that man, keep up the good work!
i would have liked to seen a follow up episode where they did Lerdrit - the Thai Army's hand to hand combat style, adapted from Muay Thai, except Lerdrit is MUCH more brutal, if you can believe that - its aim is to incapacitate (like cripple, knock out, even kill) your opponent is 1 or 2 blows. much more hard core then Muay Thai. these guys would get killed - literally!
zomg, these guys are extraordinarily dim-witted. they just watched a kid get hit in the head with an elbow, and saw blood come out of his mouth due to the hit on the head, and they're still gonna go head to head against a muay thai fighter.
well sorry guys i might have formd my thoughts right
i think it much esiar to couse damage on a oponent by smashing youre elbow or knee in there face than it is to learn how to move youre body perfectly lets say a serten punch or kick to an oponents body i mean smashig a hard bone to the face is easier than doing a 360 kick or twisting youre arm right to couse alot of damage
I want to sign up at a gym to do this fighting style!

(Bruce Lee)
ikcjjtt 1 year ago
@Ferior Traditional Chinese martial arts do have the brutality and pracality. Just the traditional version though, not the stuff u se today. I mean those shaolin monks defended thier temples with steel weapons. It doesnt get more brutal then cutting off people's head.

why do they oil themselves up b4 they fight??
Sherwin930 1 year ago
@Ferior Oh definetly but freestyle makes you a complete fighter where as boxing muay thai or even mma are sports and therefore limited, Their not reality based and so don't prove to be most effective in street fights, fluid systems like Krav Maga and jeet kune do are better if you want self defence, or you could do cross training like I did.

check out "Traditional Muaythai, Compliments" and the video by panman... the most effective muay thai fighters are the ones that work on their punches. alot of them dont
vPanya 1 year ago
@vPanya this is what i figured as well. I think boxing and muay thai (combined) generaly is something you find in the Americas. I figured traditional Thai fighters used more elbows and knees more than anything.

philippine street fighting is much deadlier than muay thai
kenshin9518 1 year ago
@kenshin9518 Well, that's because it's in the streets, hence no rules. And the second point is that in the Phils. everyone fights dirty. Hardly ever a one-on-one. And people utilize strengthened shoes or belt buckles and balisong. And due to U.S. American help after Marcos, every idiot has a gun at their disposal. That's not fighitng that's madness.

@GaolisVideoLog yea. tht cuz of ignorant and coward highschool kids in our country
tht they think joining a gang would make thing bettr 4 them
troj444 1 year ago
@troj444 Well, but look at the alternative of street children. Parents unemployed, they cannot afford to go to school, because they need to find food or money for them & their parients. Areas like Tondo have a 90% unemployment rate. There are hardly any jobs in the Phils. That's why everyone is trying to become an OFW. If I were in the shoes of those kids, I'd join a gang too. And the others arm themselves to protect themselves from these kids. This way, willingness to do harm just increases.

@GaolisVideoLog in short our people has lost their sense of honor because of poverty
troj444 1 year ago
@troj444 Yes. And our "uneducation" brings even more problems with it. We elect corrupt gov. officials, moan that they are corrupt, but the next election, we choose them again. We literally hate gov. officials that do sth. against corruption. We let our phil. police be a bunch of corrupt uneducated guys (just look at the hostage taking with ppl from HK) our gov. is not even trying to endorse local products & create jobs. This is just hurting me so badly.

freespadersuggs 1 year ago
@freespadersuggs muay thai doesnt use belts
suprempuk 1 year ago
@freespadersuggs Muay Thai doesn't use belts and the reason they are fighting champions is to show the viewers how effective Muay Thai is. And also it is promoting the sport/martial art to the viewers.
toxicinspector 1 year ago
@toxicinspector
they could simply fight advanced fighters to show how effective muay thai is, and not someone who is the "equivalent of mike tyson". if by your reasoning and as you say they are trying to show how effective the art is, then it would be better just to fight a well trained good amateur. and my statement of using belts isn't really the issue, the issue was the level of the fighter.
freespadersuggs 1 year ago
@freespadersuggs

@cleoluvrats true. plus leverage, if used properly, dismantles the size and strength of the enemy using his own attributes against himself

@cleoluvrats No. Skill does not Own strength any day. Skill and technique ENHANCES strength, if you do not have enough strength, but good technique. A man who has brute strength and barly no technique is equal to that of no strength but good technique.

since when martial arts became sports?
KurosakiKichigo653 1 year ago
@KurosakiKichigo653: Martial arts started out has hand to hand combat for wars in the past and present. In the past century, people decided to use it for formal competitions. With that came rules and restrictions for fighting. That's when it came to be a sport.
All martial arts had their roots in the Battlefield. But now they are sports.
aa3gunner 1 year ago
@aa3gunner yes my friend , i understood that... but that means that WAR also became a game ;) the whole thing i am talking about is philosophical and it has a very deep meaning... what i am trying to conclude at is that , War is not a game , Martial arts are all about war, they make the human body a weapon (that's the series anyway :P) , and we shouldn't play with weapons... War is not a sport! we are waaaay to arrogant , we the people of today!

The best point of my day when i enter the ring.

i would have liked to seen a follow up episode where they did Lerdrit - the Thai Army's hand to hand combat style, adapted from Muay Thai, except Lerdrit is MUCH more brutal, if you can believe that - its aim is to incapacitate (like cripple, knock out, even kill) your opponent is 1 or 2 blows. much more hard core then Muay Thai. these guys would get killed - literally!

well sorry guys i might have formd my thoughts right
i think it much esiar to couse damage on a oponent by smashing youre elbow or knee in there face than it is to learn how to move youre body perfectly lets say a serten punch or kick to an oponents body i mean smashig a hard bone to the face is easier than doing a 360 kick or twisting youre arm right to couse alot of damage
