  • I hope the meaning and inspiration of the song hasn't been lost!!

  • the fact that this gets covered by every selfrespecting artist shows how bloody actual this song really still is. there s god and then we got U2 . thank s god :)

  • its not about derrys bloody sunday

dont talk about something if u know fuck all about it

  • more about the effect that day had on the people of that country.

  • The song is named after the Bloody Sunday incident in Derry where the unarmed protesters were gunned down. The lyrics are more about how people felt during those times and after that incident. So in a way it is about that day but does not tell details about that day, more about feelings that day had on the people of the country.

  • its inspired by. no u2 songs are about actual events. not one!

  • R.I.P to the murdered ears of the audience. Poor fellows.

  • who cares about covers? please this was one of the worse covers ever, and dont touch the very personal songs of U2 its political and personal and people tha listen to thses women dont know what the fuck it was about anyway so what a fuckin waste

  • @golffreak68 people came here to listen to Gwen and Alicia, we don't care about the arse hole bono

  • @Stratusfaction4ever well if they came here to listen to them they were very disappointed in a bad duet awful

  • Covers like these remind us of the brilliance of the original version.

  • I actually like this version too you know. Its not fair to compare them to U2. They just did it their way - lent their voices to a great song! Why can't everyone just be happy for that alone.

  • They sound like two screaming fuckin cats, listen to the words people...I have nothing against english people, I have a lot of friends from our neighbouring country but these people singing this song were not even born when this catastrophe happened.

  • @chickinlickinfacehen em Gwen Stefani is 40? Learn yours facts retard :) and Alicia Keys is one of the best in the R&B bussiness today?

  • @HoorahMonster your a prick by the way! dont write to me again ugh stae of ye!

  • @chickinlickinfacehen hold on thats not my comment?? i wouldnt even think of the word catastrophe? i must be logged on some1s other computer cos i never heard this song before??

  • And to all the bullshit about "They don't understand..." blah blah blah. Really ? You don't think they are capable of learning about it ? You arrogantly know more than them ? "They werent there, they don't know...." yap , yap , yap. Mabe we should all stop singing the Star Spangled Banner ... because we were not there and don't understand.

  • You haters are morons. These comments are so similiar everywhere "Not as good as the original...." blah blah blah. Of course not, that would not even be possible. Nobody expects to be better than the original artist - they are just playing a tribute to the original .. showing some admiration. I thought they did a fantastic job.

  • this is for a charity, get off their backs they're doing it for a good cause. im pretty sure the know the message. Alicia is a good friend of Bono's so i think they did it justice

  • Why haters are talking about doing better than U2 They are just singing this song they never say they want to do better than U2 (Sorry for my bad english)

  • I give them an "A" for effort.

  • this is a weird cover

cant say its the best i've heard

  • they're of Irish descent

  • this reminds me of when U2 played the song at Sarajevo in 1997: a gently-sung version.

  • I hate Gwen's voice

  • makes my shit itch... what the fuck do those 2 warblers know about this song!!!!!

  • Am I the only one to be a little miffed to see two american pop singers who probably have a very watered down idea of the conflict (or not at all), singing such a song, with such a strong message ???

  • oh dear.not a good cover at all.bono would cringe

  • This is good. Allthough I prefer U2's version, it's filled with more energy.

  • No, then neither side gets what they want.

  • i fucking love gwen stefani

  • Asshole/ Arschloch :-)

  • your ears suck either way

  • This is amazing..The two most talented females in the musik industry... History n the making

  • Gwen is so stylish<3

  • I love Alicia Keys voice

  • great cover

  • Its funny how the audience doesn't even know what song it is.

  • they have opposite voices so their so good together<3

  • if you want a REAL cover look for pillar's cover of the same song. They put a heaver beat on it.

as for these two, i don't blame them for putting it in their own style, thats what they are used to. what i do blame them for is song selection... i would much rather see them cover love is blindness, as it would suit their style better.

  • amazing version!

  • I think they nailed it.

Im sure it would sound better recorded or better quality.

    good contrast in their voices

  • (N) not a good cover :S...

  • no no no... and no...

  • one would have to wonder if they even know what this song is about, , ,americans shouldn't sing irish rebel songs

  • wanker

  • sometimes ago 'someone' said:

"this is not a rebel song"

  • Songs are meant to be sung. Why bring countries into this?

I'd be more worried if Marilyn Manson started singing I'm Every Woman on stage...

  • lmao...good one and good point, music is the one thing that's suppose to bring everyone together.

  • Most people don't even know what this song is about. Google Bloody Sunday fools, majority of ye love the song bu don't kno the meaning of the song & if ye knew what it was about it would make more sense

  • Maith thú, a chailín.

  • Twas a bloody horrible sunday mate :(

  • @MaithCailinXxX That's why the song always makes me tear up. It's a wonderful song.

  • Yeah, the song's not a rebel song, it's actually... well, about rebelling against the rebellion. So I guess in a way, it is. A lot of Irish people suffered for the shit the IRA used to pull. Check out 'In the Name of the Father". Great film, even if its story is condensed and a lot of characters are conglomerations of actual people or completely fictional, the story it's based on is true.

  • mmm... i'll cite bono at redrocks by telling you that "this is not a rebel song" i think you haven't heard the lyrics at all... this song goes against the rebel fights in Ireland, but not taking a real position (favor/against). Instead, the lyrics go further by thinking on the innocents that died and their relatives.

Anyways at concerts, U2 usually stands against IRA.

  • who mentioned ira, if you think the trouble in the noth boils down to ira and anti ira, ya need to not only read up a good bit more but also wonder why sectarianism still exists?, , , one would have to believe there are a few more issues at hand there, , , , and as for the "not a rebel song" thing, Does nobody get sarcasm!? and your saying "this song goes against the rebel fights in Ireland", does that not mean its rebelling against the rebels thus making it the most rebellious of all?

  • i love them both, but not sure about this, maybe it is just bad quality.

  • I'm sorry, but you don't take a strong, bold protest song and sing it like it's some kind of baby's lullabye.

If they'd kicked it out for this song, I'd have liked it.

  • nice :)

  • im half english but my irsh side is better you fuck england

  • the english think there the shit going mad over therrorist attack on there country there just as bad ...what goes around comes around sorry to the innocents involved but you live in the fucked up country that is england

  • I dont care if you were born and live in Ireland, your talking shit.

  • why wat was wrong with i said u think England is not a multicultural country now? and u think the irish were fight 2 kill over religion?

  • it wasn't over religion, you fool, it was over opression and occupation, get your facts straight.

  • i know my facts i do history in school and do well at it also wat did i say dat was so bad i was just responding to ppl saying bad things about the english now i mean obviously it was wrong wen they took over ireland ect but i was just sayin the british r different ppl then they wer den

  • They still occupy part of Ireland, just the same as eight hundred years ago, although, obviously, not the fult of every British person.

The conflict wasn't over religion, it was over the opression of Irish people, and the occupation of Irish land.

  • Mr Thingy-100% right (or should that be 1690% right?) Island of Ireland is 1 country and anyway we're all European now anyway. Erin go bragh. Proud to be an Irish Prod!

  • Nice =)

  • awsome ladies

  • What postives has Unionism had on Ireland North and South..? Unionism hijacks Iirsh symbolism from St. Patricks cross, the Harp of Tara, the red hand of O neill, the banner of the Tyrone Earls (flag of Northern Ireland) the shamrock, Cuchulann the hound of Ulster, the Irish language (the Royal Irish regiment use it in their motto, faugh go ballagh--clear the way. I come from a Proestant past but am fiercely proud of my Irishness. Britain has fantastic history but our destny together is with Eire

  • no one can play it better than U2

  • I AGREE.

  • @Sytze112 True, but how nice that they give U2 a tribute.

  • @Sytze112 what the matter with the cover songs comments! of course no one plays better than U2, but who cares? this is a cover

  • R.I.P to the 14 murdered by British Terrorists.

  • @Curly5150 the sad part is they were soldiers

  • @Curly5150 move on u arse. this song is not about the 14, its about the hundreds n thousands. give it a rest. just dont count us scottish as british, cos we fuckin aint!

  • @callummcphail Bloody Sunday is a song about the events of January 30th 1972 ye cunt ye

  • @Curly5150 no, its actually inspired by the shootings in early 1900`s, summin like 1912 actually, but also took paralells in the 72 case. it`s insp[ired by all these horrible things and more, hence why it`s used with arabic imagery just now on 360 tour. get a grip curly, ya gormless coont!

  • @callummcphail Sunday Bloody Sunday is about what happened in Northern Ireland in 1972 when 14 unarmed men and boys were shot by British troops

  • @thejonte1 inspired by, not about! that is all

  • @callummcphail its about bloody sunday of derry

  • 6 or the original 9 counties? It's too small either way.

  • Norhtern Ireland is made up of six counties.

  • It is now, but it wasn't always that way.

  • Before the Government of Ireland Act 1920, it was part of the U.K. with the rest of Ireland.

Monaghan, Cavan, Donegal, are in the Republic.

Northern Ireland, as a country, has always been six counties.

  • its ok

bit slow paced for my tastes

I like U2 at red rocks. Driving drums and machine gun style guitars

  • I don´t believe Artist who cover have the intention of making a better Versin than the Original.

It´s more like paying respect to the writer of the song or express the artists own interpretation of the song

  • 4 of 6 counties have a nationalist majority, do you hate democracy?

  • Paramore is better <3

  • Oh dear!!!!

Paramore have done the best cover

  • Comment removed

  • ahhhh butchery

  • Jeez guys its just a cover...performed at a charity event for something good. Not commercialized or anything. Of course its not better than the original. That never happens.

  • it's ok......you guys should check paramorez cover......i like it da best

  • awful.

  • sounds like a bad talent act. no one can do this song like U2

  • lol no

  • lol yes

  • Well it wasn't a bad cover I just don't think it was as good as the U2 version, obviously covers will never be as good but sill. It was still quite good.

  • Some covers are better than originals...

But hey everyone is intitled to their own opinion (:

  • Yeah but not in this case :P In my opinion anyway, the singer in Paramore has a nice voice anyway

  • and imho she has an amazing voice xD

  • how the fuck do u figure they know more about bloody sunday than bono ever will, when he lives in ireland, and he wrote the song?.... Your a dumbass. id be willing to bet these duches dont know what the song is even about. did u ever even hear bono sing it live? listen to that and tell me that he has no passion for the song and he doesnt know what hes singing about. your an absolute idiot.

  • That song holds a lot of weight and history in Ireland.

  • OH give me a break......Gwen Stefani doing a U2 song, especially this one which is so rooted in pain.....yeah right Cali girl.....laughable

  • lol..:P

  • omg great duo! :D

  • amazing colaboration, gwen had a great voice, is amazing!!! she is a rock star, perfect for sing this track, remind me the days of nodoubt!!!

  • if you could hold the camera FREAKING still that would be great

  • Alicia's voice at 1:17 to the end just makes me wanna cry

  • it doesnt sounds good

  • not bad, but Gwen's inflections just don't sound right to me. Alicia alone wouldh ave been better, much cleaner sound.

  • A percentage of northern ireland wants to be british, and an equal percentrage of N.Irl and the rest of the world wants northern ireland to be part of an irish republic.

  • Do they even have a clue about what actually happened on bloody sunday or just yano popular song do it whatever better then rhcp version anyway

  • I love Gwen but I don't like non Irish people sing this song. As a child of the troubles I hate to see it in my face again, I lived it and I want to forget.

  • Never forget remember it is people like you who have lived it that need to teach the world that it does not have to be that way.

  • so weird 2 of em singing it...

  • IRA have not disbanded and never will.. FUCK THE BRITISH PEOPLE! KILL ALL OF THEM! it was all there fault for the bloodshed.. british bastards

  • The british had no right to invade Ireland. But to defeat monsters (British armry) we turned in to monsters (IRA), we started killing innocents as a result and created a pointless divide in our communitys. Bono (u2) was thinking of this when he wrote "Sunday bloody sunday" as he says in his biograthy "U2 By U2". Basically we have to get over the termoils of the past and try and live our lives in peace.

  • let's forget politics for a minute, does anyone else think this performance was really bad? this is nothing like U2 or Daughtry singing Sunday bloody Sunday.. it sounded like someone who does not the song well but singing it.

  • maybe the rule of law has won, but the Irish republic has lost as a result, the british have no right to occupy any of this country and the sooner they realise that and sod off the better.

  • who gives a flying a f*ck about celtic and rangers, football is never gonna change the world, its just an excuse to get together for a scrap! you can make whatever excuses you want, and as for all this catholic vs. protestant b*llocks, were all people, the same as! as queen elizabeth said "there is only one god and the rest is a dispute of triffles". Also why did some stupid american cover this song, this means more than all that pop sh*te they usualy sing and they have no right to cover it

  • what democracy?! england has stolen right of Irish people to have they own country, serbs tried to do the same with Croatia and Bosnia but we won.Ireland is Freeeeee. NEDAJTE SE! Croatia is with you forever

  • pklçklçj

  • (srry about the latter comment)

you don't even know the meaning of the word "rebel", and your speech prooves it. Stop spitting shit and go inform yourself before throwing random crap criticism cheaply made... wikipedia will do fine...

  • sucks ass! daughtry's cover is way better

  • P.S. Notable Scottish Freemasons have included Robert Burns; Sir Walter Scott; Sir Harry Lauder; Jimmy Shand; and Jock Stein...when your manky dad goes out on his secret thursday night jaunts ask him about this!

  • beautiful!

  • Hey Rangersbabe sing the Famine song - that's disgusting!

  • wow how brainwashed are you? ever had a thought of your own? Babe I can sing and play the green fileds of france off by heart, and beleive me peolpe like you have no right to quote it as you are a bigot and time has passed you by - the world is changing - while you drown in your own bile

  • hope some more years bring you some more tolerance for the experiences of other peolpe, if not the SPL as rangers are pish, mhon the hoops!

  • eh three in a row! - he knew what winning a european cup meant - back to your wee team of catholics too pish to get a game for us....our day has come

  • There has been a lot of talk about this song maybe to much talk this song is not a rebel song this song is sunday bloody sunday

  • This Song Is a Rebel Song It's Disgusting

  • if u had any sene you'd know that this isn't a rebel song, it's about bono's take on the violence on both sides, how it disgusts him, and how he wants it all to stop. it's people with minds like yours that keep things like this going, people who take offense at a song they don't even understand

  • Why Are Stupid Americans Singing This Song :S Stfu Bitches..How Long Must You Sing This Song..Not Any Longer Build A Bridge And Fucking Get Over It :)

  • you got a problem with america?

  • No I Don't Just Don't See Why There Singing It

  • 1. It's a great song. 2. We had some issues with the British at one time to...or did you forget that?

  • ...so Bono shouldn't sing songs about africa because he's not african?

It doesn't matter who sings this song..if they sing it because they understand it and put their hearts into it, then go ahead.

  • come on sweetheart...we wont get over it till u guys get out...invaders

  • They sound so awesome

  • bloody sunday actually happened on jan 1972 when the british government sent in british paratroopers to keep the catholics of derry ,who were protesting for civil rights (as they were treated as second class citizens), "under control" when in fact they brutally murderd 14 innocent irish people who were portesting for the rights that they were should have been entilteld to, justice still hasnt given and many "soilders" who murderd that day have not been punished for their brutal actions

  • ... Gwen sounds surprisingly good here. I'm impressed.

  • the song is about all the conflict that happend in derry between the irish of the city and the ruc many died and also about what happend in 1920 something

  • oh God... why? Only Bono should sing this song...

  • everybody should sing it. how long? as long as necessary.

  • how long how long most WE sing this song :P

But your in a strange way right :)

  • I hope they know the history of this song....

  • i understand what u mean bout how its an orginal but i am a u2 fan and i really prefer some of the covers to the orignal u hav 2 understand that not every1 is gonna lyk every version of the song

  • bono cried at this event.....he loved Alicia when she sang this he said.........

  • omg...y does everyband have to fucking cover this song, its an origanal, lets leave it that way!!! AMEN!!

  • Please never cover Sunday Bloody Sunday again... it's a classic U2 songs that only the band should play

  • fucking agree withya!!

  • I bet you do ! (i also i hope someone else does)

  • Killed the song. Gwen's a sell out anyway.

  • they sing it like its a love song

  • AAAH they ripped it's soul off!?

  • this sucks,

  • This is very beautiful. Its so smooth and haunting. I love it. So pretty.

  • this hurts my ears:-p paramore's isnt all bad n neithr is daughtry's but this version really doesn't cum up 2 scratch
