Wealth "redistribution"? How's the current "distribution" working out for ya? 80% of all the wealth created since Reagonomics was adopted has gone to the top 5% of the wealthiest Americans. Who thinks that stupid shit is ok? Dogmatic idealogues, that's who. Whom. Whatever.
Oh, another misguided "Fact Fan"............don't you know facts have nothing to do with the cherished Free Market Fundamentalists and Reagan worshipers?
By the way, to the whole class envy crowd, if all small biz / sub-S profits over 250K are highly taxed, you will stay small. You need that just for retained earnings / inventory / working capital, etc. High taxes means small businesses cannot create more jobs.
its funny obama talked about the fact that most small businesses make less than 250k but what he fails to address is that a company making 260k isn't a BIG business. does ten thousand dollars really make the difference between a big and small business. what about the MIDDLE CLASS businesses who are still struggling to the top. there's too much gray area.
Does anyone think it will stop at 39% and include only the wealthy? If so, you could sell ice to an Eskimo. Joe works for a licensed company so until he gets his own business which isn't likely under an Obama administration, he doesn't need a license. I do feel sorry for those unions in Michigan. Who will have extra money for new cars?
Do you realize how little of a change that really is when you are talking about over 250K? Do the math, it is NOT much, and as someone who lives in Toledo...let me tell you, Joe is an UNLICENSED plumber! He is considered a scab to licensed union plumber! If he wants to buy a 250K+ profit company, he isn't a plumber, but a business man!
Man, I'm just writing a song, not making any political statements. However, the notion that any capitalist would "spread the wealth around" is incongruent.
ah a year to the day this was posted....love it still

This song is great. I had my American Heritage students listen to it and discuss the idea of wealth redistribution. Thanks for sharing this :)

Were you able to get any facts in there, for instance how Joe the Plumber would benefit MORE under Obama's tax plan?

It is now 41% now and that is for those people and companies making more than $120,000. As confirmed by the Obama campaign.

It's a catchy tune and you play it well.
However, it's not Marxist for Obama to propose changing the top tax rate from 35% to 39.6%.
In 1955, under President Eisenhower, the top tax rate was 91%.
