And not only was it cool, it was the right thing to do, because of course, as you said in your NES WOF video, the final spin has to be worth some money. (Can't be worth a prize, Surprize, Double Play, Free Spin, Wild Card or Million Dollar Wedge; the $10K wedge is another story).

I believe they stopped doing that at the start of Season 11.

No I think they still had it that season because they had that rug in a episode that aired on 9/21/1993, and in the sega cd video game version of Wheel Of Fortune.
