  • PEACE UNDERSTANDING LOVE STILL RELEVANT IN 2012 WE ALL NEED TO REUNITE IN SAN FRANSICO SOMEDAY STONED LOVE!

  • Classic.

  • One of music's greatest moments...thank you so much.

  • @DaveEllis13 It is indeed. Thank you for watching!

  • No wonder this magnificent tune went to #7 on The Billboard Pop Top 100 Singles Chart & # 1 on The Billboard R&B Top 40 Singles Chart.

Mary Wilson, Cindy Birdsong & Jean Terrell (THE SUPREMES 1970'S) skip no beat and prove clearly that Diane Ross was nor needed or missed!

Sad that after proving right off the gate with their first single "Up The Ladder To The Roof" that reached #10 compare to Diane Ross first single "Reach Out And Touch" that only reached # 20 that Motown would betrayed them!

  • It is hilarious how people discuss and argue with each other on here. First, they don't even know each other. Second, they are arguing about folks they don't even know. Lastly, it's only their opinion which is neither right or wrong. It's just their own opinion.

  • @nkdillon3 We sure have our fun and yes some of us know far more than the manufactured media releases designed to maintain the aura needed to assure the desired MARKETING & PUBLICITY to maintain the sales and yes some of us know more about this ladies that the ladies themselves!

  • @thesupremester Listen, now you're crossing the line, BOTH MARY WILSON & CINDY BIRDSONG together with JEAN TERRELL are on this song and this BS about The Andantes needs to stop, REGARDLESS OF THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS AS ADDED VOCALS the ones on the road selling this songs in EVERY LIVE PERFORMANCE AND COLLECTING THE ROYALTIES TODAY ARE "THE SUPREMES"

NOW TAKE YOUR PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE CRAP BACK TO THE Diane THE BERRY GORDY MOTOWN WHORE Ross videos!

  • @thesupremester Listen you troll, "HOT MESS" is everything about Diane Ross at this point on her CONNING, CONNIVING BETRAYING, DECEITFUL career!

Suitable she's getting a "LIFETIME 2012 ACHIEVEMENT GRAMMY" which in her case for someone who at THE PEEK OF HER CAREER was overlooked due to her less than respectful, ethical, honest trajectory is nothing but a GO HOME "GTFO" GRAMMY for her SALES, NOT ARTISTIC OR HUMAN VALUE AT ALL!

THE SUPREMES WILL ALWAYS BE "THE LEGACY"

  • @TWTR4EVER you guys are so funny:)

  • It doesn't get any better than this!

  • Boy my mom would be jamming the hell outta this. I knew not to get in the way cause she would be cleaning house.

  • It's really interesting how the stage costumes had changed in a year. In 1969, gowns were still the preferred choice for female groups. By 1970, Black female groups were wearing more loose, less-flashier gowns or flashy pantsuits that allowed for more movement/dancing (as seen here). Wigs still ruled the day, but "Afro Vogue" was coming into prominence.

  • Uh ...Mary Wilson is grooving here ! Go ahead Ms Wilson! LOL . I 'm thinking after this hit single and Up the ladder to the roof .... She should have gone solo then also

  • Songs like this don't come often but today songs don't have chart staying power

  • Mary Wilson had a serene voice.

  • Love the Supremes and this is one of my favorites

  • The best supremes song without Diana ross

  • We need music and talented ladies like these today! Come on people lets love each other the God tells us to in the Holy Bible.

  • Motown at its most soulful. Jean invests so much emotion in this classic. I love this record so much it hurts.

  • this is aclassic record. nice for the supremes to get some recognition. even if gordy put their records on hold so they didnt compete with rosses releases. that man should be ashamed he has a lot to answer for. he should appologise to the girls for this he did nothing but stiffle them. what a sod. anyone can see the talent thegirls had and look at the hits without ross. well done i say.

  • "Stoned Love" is the ultimate anthem to the sixties (love) generation. I am afraid this great song coincided with the "high water mark" of our nation that has been in steady social and economic decline since the golden days of Motown. NBoshard

  • @boshardn OMG! You've nailed it! That is the perfect description of this song and it's impact. Thank you!

  • @DetroitLives313 Lol...Who is this "thesupremester" may I ask?

We, here in YouTube are entitled to our opinions and freedom of speech, what ever he thinks of me he can stick were the sun don't shine but the truth regarding the rampage Diane Ross conducted to become what she is today at the expense of all, including family will not be denied!

  • @TWTR4EVER thesupremester is a filthy animal usually found in the wilderness of Eastern Canada! LOL! He shan't bother you here again! hehehehehe...

  • @DetroitLives313 Lol...is "thesupremester" filthy animal found in the wilderness of Eastern Canada by any chance related to the other filthy disgusting repulsive animal from the Province Of Ontario Canada known as "TheReturnOfBigBear"????

  • This was the biggest of the Supremes hits without Diana Ross.

  • I love this track. I was looking specifically for the one with the classical piano start and I was looking at it wondering what was different? Who are these ladies? Apologies for not knowing.

  • @VeeBee81 Who are these ladies? You're kidding right?

  • ma fave motown track of all time....k.t.f.

  • Jean, Mary and Cindy, WOW! You hear the Motown sound? You see the Motown groove? Ain't nuthin' better. 3 beautiful, sexy, talented, proud black women. They've got the moves, the sounds and the looks,... make any man, glad to be a man!

  • @skeena59 AMEN!!!! I hear you. Thanks for watching.

  • Fantastic

  • TWTR4EVER, NOT TRUE DIANA 'S SECOND RELEASE WAS" AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH "#1 EARLY SUMMER1970, THEN "REMEMBER ME" LATE 1970 A TOP TEN SINGLE, THEN SUMMER OF 1971" SURRENDER" WAS RELEASED AND HER FIRST SOLO SPEACIAL.

  • There needs to be a REAL Supremes movie, not just a movie about a group "like" The Supremes (Dream Girls) but a real, honest movie about The Supremes, how they met, how they became popular, their early non-hits prior to tunes like "Baby Love" - the drive of Diana Ross, the inner turmoil that Flo experienced, the early Motown years....I'm sure we'd all like to see it...

  • @JohnnyGNV like the temps film?

  • THE SUPREMES- "Stoned Love" Jean Terrell, Mary Wilson (sharing lead) & Cindy Birdsong HIT # 7 IN THE BILLBOARD POP 100 SINGLES CHART & # 1 IN THE BILLBOARD R&B 100 SINGLES!

After THE SUPREMES "Up The Ladder To The Roof" CHARTED # 10 & Diane Ross "Reach Out And Touch" CHARTED # 20 & THE SUPREMES "Stoned Love" CHARTED # 7 & Diane Ross "Surrender" CHARTED # 38 Berry Gordy / Motown PULL ALL THE STOPS TO PROMOTE DIANE ROSS and PULLED BACK MARKETING, PROMOTION & DISTRIBUTION on THE SUPREMES!

  • @TWTR4EVER What a silly child you are leaving out Ross' 3 week stay at #1 in 1970. Ain't No Mountain High Enough - heard of it? This is why Mary hates you and what you write on here. You take a great song and turn it into an attack on Diana Ross who has nothing to do with this clip. Plus, you are purposely omitting her 2 hits in this year. Keep it up, I enjoy laughing at you, moron. If Berry was trying to off The new Supremes,THIS track would have gone to Ross. Honor Mary and chill.

  • @thesupremester Me "silly child"? When you're nothing but an IDIOTIC DIANE ROSS TROLL? Regarding "Aint No Mountain High Enough" this will always be Marvin Gaye & Tammy Terrell's song, Diane Ross first single as a "solo" "Reach Out And Touch" TANKED at # 20, THE SUPREMES "Up The Ladder To The Roof" a legitimate Top #10 Hit.

Diane Ross is a SCUM BAG, her next two albums "Everything is Everything" & "Surrender " ALSO TANKED and yes at that point THE SUPREMES to Berry/Diane /Motowm became spendable!

  • @thesupremester I honestly don't care what makes you laugh Diane Ross garbage!

I will be here and everywhere that allows me to express THE TRUTH regarding Diane Ross, a woman who BETRAYED her group members (THE SUPREMES, Florence, Mary and later Cindy ) who's an ADULTERER that with Berry Gordy, produced a BASTARD CHILD (Rhonda Silbestein Gordy Ross) while married to first husband Mr. Robert Silberstein!

Regarding ANYONE you claim hates me?

Did I write "Dreamgirl, My Life as a Supreme?

    NOT!

  • JEAN SOUNDS GREAT ON ALL THE SONG SHE RECORDED FOR MOTOWN; BUT WHEN SHE SINGS LIVE IT IS MORE THAN A TREAT. Most singers don't sound better live, Jean does I know she was touring with FLOS; hope she is still singing......

  • This is a classic,

  • STONED LOVE=THE (1970s) SUPREMES (post Diane Ross) reached #7 on The Billboard Pop 100 Singles & #1 on The Billboard Top 100 R&B Singles!

For anyone to say they didn't know JEAN TERRELL & MARY WILSON fronted the lead of this song (sexytrannienj) is either lying to benefit his "OBVIOUS PREFERENCE FOR Diane Ross or was never a "FAN OF THE SUPREMES!

Up The Ladder To The Roof-Everybody's Got The Right To Love- Stoned Love- Nathan Jones- Touch- Floy Joy - Automatically Sunshine= few OF NO DIANE HITS!

  • AS MUCH AS I LOVE THIS SONG ONCE A GROUP IS SUCCESSFUL WITH ORIGINAL MEMBERS NOONE WILL EVER REPLACE THAT MAGIC OF THAT GROUP I NEVER KNEW WHO THESE LADIES WERE UNTIL RECENTLY I THOUGHT IT WAS STILL DIANA SINGING GOES TO SHOW YOU

  • @sexytrannienj That is strange because this is one time that I feel they topped the original group. Also strange Jean Terrell does not sound like Diana Ross. Her voice is different, more soulful , better!

  • Comment removed

  • wow, I can totally hear why they`re called "The Supremes"

  • these tracks never get old, just better and better with each play

  • I so loved this song

  • @DetroitLives313 I will, thank you!

  • HATERS WILL NOT PREVAIL! @ WHATITHINK THANK YOU, YOU ALL ARE TRIPPIN ON VIDEOS MADE 40 YEARS AGO. IF THEY WERE SO HPT WHERE ARE THEY NOW, DIANA IS STILL HOTT!

  • @Mzrapper922 I just saw Mary Wilson in concert Thurs. night in New York. She got no less than two standing ovations!!!! She is sexy as ever! She has a brand new recording out now called "Life's Been Good to Me". It's on Youtube. Check it out!!!!!

  • @DetroitLives313 I saw her in Brooklyn too. In fact I got on stage with her during her medley. I'm glad she's singing the group's 70's hits.

  • @MUSICENCYLOPEDIA Was that you up there? hehehehehe... It is indeed a small World. We were all hoping that Mary would have been the headliner to close the show. I love the Spinners, but Mary Wilson has a far more enjoyable show and much more material. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!

  • @Mzrapper922

I guess that's why Diana is playing small Indian Casinos these days...

  • jean terell 10 diana 9 an who gives a f.... if she was f...... berry gordy diana was a fab singer in her own right ok she did get more support but who gives adamn they both were brill but i gotta say that i thought jeans voice was better an she was god damn prettier than diana to she was stunning diana was just pretty sorry diane

  • Here is something that all of you Supremes youtubers did NOT know, & that is that Jean Terrell IS the brother of Ernie Terrell fomer WBA heavyweight champion who of course lost his part of the tiltle to Muhammad Ali in the WHATS MY NAME, WHATS MY NAME fight on Feb,6,1967 because of EarnieTerrell insistance on caliing Ali Cassius Clay !!

  • i would like to see this video clean uped

  • Diana might have had the stage presence but it's clear that Jean was a superior singer to Diana as she had both soul AND pop. What really killed the Supremes was Motown's lack of support after Diane left, specifically Berry's. He didn't want them to be as huge as in the 60's.

  • @PrelaE You're so right, Berry Gordy was putting all of Motowns's Publicity/Marketing & Distribution on Diane Ross who at this moment in time was still a "failure to Launch" STONED LOVE went to #7 in the Billboard Pop Chart & it went to # 1 in The Billboard R&B Chart, while Diane Ross album (the one that had "Surrender") was lost in the shuffle in the Pop Charts!

When him & Diane split THE SUPREMES, the Pop Charts were no longer having them, Diane had only 5 # 1 POP HITS in 42 years

  • 4 people have never experienced that Stoned Love for one another.

  • I LOVE MOTOWN!

  • A classic - Pure and simple. I fell in love dancing to this song. Strangely it was in 2009, not 1970.

  • Jean's voice was beautifully melodic yet soulful at the same time.....we see why she was chosen to lead the Supremes after the Ross sound proved to be a "goldmine." I also hear tones not unlike Dionne Warwick's early material....Jean was fabulous and unfortunately underrated....the work however speaks for itself.

  • @quietbillionaire well said!! I totally agree

  • The public bought the records but not the group. Their albums did progressively worse as did their concert attendance. This clip shows what a hot mess this group was: cornball precision choreography but sloppily executed, no focus on the music and Mary looking redic with that tacky 'fro. Love that she wore a fro, hate the messy one she used. Tired of people blaming their demise on Gordy. Jean Terrell was a good singer but not performer. None of these ladies could succed after they split group.

  • @TheMotownManiac

Spoken like a true Diana Ross fan...sad.

  • @TheMotownManiac

I can't believe you are so harsh towards them. The choreography is perfect. At least Jean gave the others some face time instead of relagating them to the background like Miss Thing used to do.

  • Great song and 70 was the best year. Not only because I was young, it was a high test year.

  • I was astounded how immediately the public accepted Jean. I mean "Up the Ladder" sailed right onto the charts and onto radio basically without comment. There was little discussion in the media about Diana's exit, which astounded me. The group went on with its prestige engagements, its top T.V. shows, its high-profile tours. Had Mr. Gordy been behind them, not just trusted they could coast on their own , the outcome would have been different.

  • @waynebrasler I don't think it was a matter of accepting Jean or not. It was a good song, so it was a hit. Band of Gold was a bigger hit, but it was no indication of the public liking or disliking Freda Payne. The public just thought of the new Supremes as a different group and with the ever changing cast, lost interest quickly. Some fans stayed but it got silly after awhile, with the few remaining actual fans clinging to a group that had only one real member amonst a cast of talented strangers.

  • @TheMotownManiac Jesus James Christ, do you have anything better to do than sit here and pass judgement on a video clip from 40 YEARS AGO? If not, here's some thngs you can do:

    1. Volunteer at a nursing home or homeless shelter.

    2. Deliver meals to shut-ins or AIDS patients.

    3. Work to see that DOMA doesn't get passed.

    4. See that it DOES get better for some gay teen-ager.

    5. And, if all else fails, get a job.

But to just sit here and snipe says more about you than Ross, Terrell or the Supremes.

  • THESE DISHES HAD CLASS.

  • I LOVE this song...thanks:D

  • I love this song so much I can tell you the exact day I heard it for the first time November 23, 1970. Love Jean Terrell's voice--its better then Diana's and severely underappreciated!!!!

  • I love this song! My daughter says I listen to it too much. hahaha Jean Terrell was truly a great pick to sing with The Supremes. Don't get me wrong, I like Diana Ross voice too, but since she separated from the group, I'm glad Mary and Cindy was still able to show case their talent! I love all of the songs with Jean Terrell and well as the ones with Diana. They both had their whole style of singing, which in my opinion was very good! Thanks for posting!!

  • @datsdabomb I love it too. Never get tired of it after all these years. Thanks for watching!

  • @DetroitLives313 I love it, as well, one of my favorites from the year I was 6 years old and beginning to ride a bicycle (my first year.) Remember this song coming from many stereo systems at the time while riding the bike in New Port Richey, FL. One of the best tunes for the Supremes and Jean's voice was great on it. Wish more songs these days sounded as great.

  • @DetroitLives313 Yennek Samoht & Frank Wilson did this October 1970 number for the Supremes on the Motown label! Also on the Singing Machine's "Motown Original Artist Karaoke" Jean Terrell sounds as good as ever!

  • @DetroitLives313 I also forgot, this was released as Motown 1172 in October 1970

  • @kjchicago1 You are right, that's when it was released. Are you from Chicago? It got played constantly in Chicago. Jean Terrell is from Chicago by the way. Thanks for watching!

  • I agree ,Jean's voice has a much soul sound to it. Diana can't compare to Jeans. I love the new Supreme performance on stage. Mary and Cindy have more control, relax appearance on stage. They perform great together. The girls were not PUSHED behind Diana as Diana wanted to be the lead and getting all the attention. That would have been the day that the Girls would dance in front of Diana like they did here with Jean. A great Supreme performance. I wish they would have lasted longer.

  • Funny how Jean's voice sounds eerily similiar to Diana. They must have purposefully sought a new lead that could pick up where she left off rather than change the sound.

  • @jrgnc1 I disagree. Diana Ross could never sound this good., Their voices sounded nothing a like to me. Check out both their versions of "Time and Love" both recorded in 1970 , both using the same backing track and you'll see. There is no comparison. Jean's voice is much higher and much more melodic.

  • @DetroitLives313 Initially I thought I could hear a bit of the Diana Ross sound, but after hearing Diana and Jean both sing, it's no comparison...Jean Terrell is far better, at least for this piece. Thanks for posting.

  • @DetroitLives313 Jean's is unfocused and Diana's is perfect. Jean killed The Supremes with her trilling and clumsiness.

  • @TheMotownManiac LOL! April Fools was 3 weeks ago, you're late! LOL! This IS the Supremes Dream Team and there is nothing you say or do about it now. Jean RULES! As does Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong! Happy Easter.

  • @TheMotownManiac Oh wow. Perfect? Hardly. Diana Ross has a slightly-more-than-adequate pop voice. Jean Terrell has a soul. There's nothing wrong with a pop voice, but Diana Ross is no Etta James. Jean didn't kill the Supremes, Berry Gordy's penis did. He was banging Diana Ross, and she's all he cared about. Maybe if Jean had helium heels for married men like Diana, she might have gone further. In 1970 they lost their lead singer - and got their soul back. Bet you think Flo "had it coming."

  • @DetroitLives313 I agree, for the most part, though I love both Ross and Terrell.. What I admire most is your willingness to say/think that someone might actually be better than Ross. I have loved her for over 40 years, but her solo caree has produced some of the worst music I have ever heard. "I'm Coming Out," most notably--and I'm gay! Anyway, good comment.

  • Supremes were definetly classy and sexy!!

  • DetroitLives313 Thanks for posting this video. Brings back great memories of high school. Still love this song 40 years later. What a classic.

  • @beentheredonethatb4 You are most welcome. It is indeed a classic for the ages! Thanks for watching.

  • Gawd, the way she opens the song with the first line is just glossy, shiny, brilliance fabulousness. Her delivery performance is history making in the world of performance. 0:16 to 0:23 = "Now, I wanna tell ya....of a great love........" Listen again to how she sings the word 'love'. oh, wow! From 0:32 to 0:40 she looks like she is crying......as she sings "It will light up - It will SURRRRRRRELY light up....the darkest world...."

  • @hitomusic

    "IF you just be-lieve....Stoned Lo-ove""

  • @NormaDesmond1000 Right on, NormaD!

  • They sure don't do choreography like this anymore...bands just stand there looking nervous. More evidence that things are NOT getting better with time.

  • they should have never used the Andantes in the late 60s instead of Mary and Cindy... Those girls were awesome!!!!

  • Absolutely GRAND PRIZE, the melody, the harmony, the moves, the outfits, the sharing of the spotlight - THAT is the acme of girl group talent. Yes, the song was a hit - but nowhere near as big a hit as it deserved. Shame on Motown for not properly promoting or supporting the Post-Diana Supremes. Cause these girls GOT IT!

  • Thank you for posting, this was my favorite Supremes' song. Rid of Ross they did music again rather than vehicles for Diane.

  • We need all our brothers and sisters Norma. Not just the black ones.

  • @MrFalconford That is so true! Feel free to send this song/prayer to your friends or anyone. We need this positive vibe now more than ever!

  • @MrFalconford

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. I left out something. I am gay and I meant that we need our Black brothers and sisters to help us in our own battle for our Civil Rights. The very idea that there is legislation to keep us from marrying the people we have chosen to spend our lives with boggles my mind as much as the ban on Inter-racial marriage did.

Peace, Love and Understanding for all. A Higher Love. XO

  • Lordy, Lordy, look who's 40! Stoned Love, as beautiful now as it was way back in 1971. Thanks again, Mary, Cindy and Jean!

  • My favorite Supremes song! thanks

  • It's a prayer, that's what I ment.

  • I was four years old :)

  • They were the Best.

  • If it wasn't for this recording I don't know how I would have gotten through the race riots at Gage Park H.S. Thankyou for posting this.

  • @MrFalconford Oh wow, now that is deep! Happy Holidays and thank you for watching!

  • @MrFalconford WOW.. The Power of Music!!!! Thanks for sharing that brother.

  • @MrFalconford

I long for the day when Race won't be important anymore...

  • @BabyJaneHudson Dearest BabyJaneHudson Race will always be important it's just that we shouldn't be judging people soully on it.

  • @MrFalconford

Those were terrible times but much needed at a time when America needed to be shaken out of it's bullshit mindset. Civil Rights should NOT have taken ONE HUNDRED YEARS to unfold! The very IDEA that Black and White people could not marry boggles my mind. How DARE anyone try to keep or enact legislation to inhibit others. That is why we desperately need our Black brothers ands sisters behind us so that we can enjoy our Civil Rights. PLEASE!!!

  • @NormaDesmond1000 That is so true! Feel free to send this song/prayer to your friends or anyone. We need this positive vibe now more than ever!

  • One of my favorite videos on youtube, top 10....

  • @raleighgranprix OMG!! I swear!!! By the locks upon my head, I saying out loud to myself before i scrolled down to the comments.. I said ''This has to be one of my all time fave videos on Youtube"...lol, I love it!!

  • i think as time passes more people are realizing how great the supremes were even without ms. ross...and this is coming from an elvis and beatles fan.

  • Great job!!!

  • My fav Supremes song of all times. I was in 10th Grade when it came out. BEST part, NO Diana especially when one considers how she has really forgotten the fans over the years and Mary has really worked hard at embracing and thanking Them/Us all.

Long Live, Mary, Flo, Jean, Cindy and............who waz that "Other" chick?????

    Dave

  • I remember this performance back in 1970 off of the Tom Jones show. The Supremes were on their way and Jean was the right choice. Look at her smile and energy she had at that time. Had they had the backing Diana had during that time the girls would've been just as big but we all know the politics behind what happened back then.

  • Just think of the money Motown and Mr. Gordy could have made with the 70's Supremes if he had kept them on the 'A List". Just think of how well they would have delt with disco type tunes. What a shame!

  • @Paulsx1

I have watched this video over and over and I totally agree with you - the choreography is seamless and appears to be effortless, doesn't it?

I love the part @ 1:01 when Jean stands in front and almost 'calls' the others to join her up front. then they seamlessly match each other's moves. Perfect!

  • shame Berry Gordy relegated them to "B" group status to push Miss Ross. great tune and thanx for posting this.

  • I just love this video. You can just feel the freedom the girls are experiencing since Diana left. In the past, you would NEVER have seen any of them walk across the stage in front of the lead singer (Diana). Such fun!

  • I think they were better after Ross left as I found her sound a bit to strident for my liking whereas the other girls voices were more mellow

  • @glenn1340

Diana's voice is a bit grating on those early recordings, wasn't it?

I like her more now since her timbor (sic) has changed much like Streisand's has. I think Streisand started sounding better in the mid 90's up to the present.

  • im 20 yrs old and i like music like the supremes and temptation etc.good music

  • Awesome, Jean is just brilliant and with Mary and Cindy you get triple talent and this is how a girl group should be, sharing the limelight and not just concentrating on the lead singer, this is why I prefer the 70s Supremes as you get to see all the girls in the clip and not just the lead singer! x

This is how Flo wanted the Supremes to be, Fairness to all! xx

  • @michellesvideosuk

Poor Flo - screwed all the way to her death. I agree, THIS is how girl groups should be. I said in an earlier post that you would never have seen such fluid mobility from Mary and Cindy's dance moves when Diana was in the group. and they would NEVER have dared cross over in front of her while she was singing like they do in this video while Jean is singing. The feeling of Freedom is palpable and gives this song it's edge, in my opinion.

    .

  • @BabyJaneHudson You are so right, these girls looks so relaxed and I never forgot what Jean said in an Interview once, she looked straight at the camera and said, "These are my girls now", thank god for Jean Terrell.

Whether she meant this as a dig at Diana or not I don't know, but it was so cute! Lol

    xxx

  • Don't ya hear the wind blowing..???

    Can't ya, can't can't ya can't ya, can't ya can't ya feel it???

    Stoned Love,.. Oh yeah!

  • Now this is the version I always liked. The original. The one we heard on the radio!

  • ......LOOK AT THOSE OUT FITS!!! They are F**KIN FABULOUS!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!! They don't make em like this anymore, this is THE BEST!!! *****STARS out of 5!! Peace Gary in PA USA.

  • wOw!

    fuckin AWESOME....))

    Pauly!

  • @paulyvi I agree! Thanks for watching Pauly.

  • WJAB in Huntsville, AL. plays "Stoned Love" every now and again on Saturdays during its oldies show. Every blue moon you'll hear "Nathan Jones", too...

  • Real bad lip synch- but I could give a good zucchini! I don't care how they sing this song. It is, and is, and will always be ONE ONE THE BEST EVER. So you GO LADIES!!!

  • What i really love about this song is that anyone of any age can sing it! There's no ridicules high notes or low notes. It's a fantastic song with a catchy tune. I'm 15, my voice is breaking and i have trouble maintaining pitch and key and yet i some how manage to sing this OK. You have no excuse not to sing along now!!!

  • Got to tell you folks something- I live in NJ and have WCBS 101.1 as an oldies station. I was at work today and they all of a sudden played Stoned Love.. sometim in the afternoon The radio station usually play Supremes songs but usually it is from Diana Ross 60's era. It took me off guard for a moment. I wonder if someone actually requested it..... anyone's thoughts on it?

  • @jeffdon4 I think that is wonderful and sorry I missed hearing it on the radio as I too listen to WCBS 101.1 but out here on Long Island. They do play "Stoned Love " from time to time on our local Oldies Station 103.1 FM Bay Shore. It just goes to show you can't keep a great record down and many people love and remember the song. It was even in the film "Forest Gump"!

  • @DetroitLives313 i wasnt expecting it at all. I was singing along and everyone was looking at me like i was crazy. Well, maybe when it comes time to Motown. I still love the 60's supremes as i love diana ross...but i appreciate the effort that 70's supremes try...And although they never achieved the heights that 60's did without berry gordy,...it should never be forgotten.

  • I've heard Stoned Love many times on KEARTH 101 Los Angeles but not as many as Baby Love, Stop! and the rest from the 60s.

  • @bellacharo I know , which is a bummer. How many times doe you need to hear "Baby Love " LOL! Thanks for watching.

  • The Supremes lost popularity once Diana left.

  • @GayBlkWorld yeah and Diana lost popularity after "Dreamgirl, My Life As A Supremes made the New York Times Bestsellers list........... You think she'll ever recover?

  • @DetroitLives313

I think Diana Ross IS in Recovery...LOLOL

  • @BabyJaneHudson hehehehehehehe................

  • @GayBlkWorld Not in my book.

  • Play it loud.

  • They look great! Soooooo relaxed and groovy!!!

  • love, love, love this song esp. with the intro. These girls could sing. The choreography is wild. I want to get an outfit like that and recreate the dance moves.Could they be having more fun? anybody want to join in? thanks for posting. Anyone know what show this is from?

  • I won that title at the Bunkhouse in 1987. After the deathof my best friend in 1989, I feel I had no one to share "The Supremes" with....especially "The New Supremes". When the CD came out of "The Supremes - The Jean Terrell Years", my excitement was saddened, because I couldn't share my excitement with anyone. Glad to meet another fan!!

  • @Misslongisland87 God Bless you Misslongisland87! Keep enjoying the music and life!

  • I was a bigger Supreme fan "after" Diana left. Jean Terrell had some voice!!!!

  • @Misslongisland87 Hello Misslongisland....Bay Shore here! I'm with ya on that. Thanks for watching!

  • such a great song i remember this coming out when i was 14

  • They took this to # 1 on Billboard Soul charts in 1970... Too often they're only credited with their Pop # 1s. I was even more proud that this gorgeous song hit the top of the soul charts. You must hear the long version to really appreciate it's magnificence... harmonies from heaven. As good as the Diane, Mary & Flo harmonies and better in many ways - they shared vocals and everyone could be heard clearly. Another great lineup was Mary, Cindy & Scherrie...

  • @StephenMWhite56 Great post! I share your feelings on this, I too was happy and proud that the Supremes with this of all songs went number one on the SOUL charts! Thanks for watching.

  • Cindy Birdsong just isn't the sweetest gal she is also really cute!!!

  • Diana Ross didn't have the most powerful singing voice but she was a decent singer who improved as a solo artist. With The Supremes, she was definitely the beneficiary of some of the best compositions and promotion that Motown could produce. Jean Terrell was a better singer, but the post-Ross group really didn't get the push they deserved, in my opinion. Also, by the time Jean joined The Supremes, the popularity of girl groups was fading. I'm not hating on Diana, but it was what it was.

  • @njblack73 I think that's exactly what happened. No lack of talent at all -- I'd even argue the Stoned Love group was the best. But BG Jr. appeared to have lost interest in the group ... and the era was changing in general.

  • Flawless - Jean Terrell with Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong where the New Supremes - a great group - better than even the classic line up in many ways - still giving you that Supremes magic in a new and fresh way.

  • @ramona2400 They were just that.......flawless. They were all that and most people recognize it. Still there are some, a few that just can't accept how great Jean, Mary and Cindy were as THE SUPREMES! The tape and recordings speak for themselves. Thank you for watching.

  • why is everyone so jealouse of diane ross

  • @gloryclark Not jealous, just being truthfull. Jean Terrell's voice was amazing too. Yes, Diana Ross HELPED make the Supremes famous but as we all have learned, it wasn't the end of any of the remaining group's career after she left. The Supremes flourished even AFTER Diana was long gone. Even with all the changes in the group's lineup, they still had great success. God bless them!!

  • HELL TO THE YES!!!

  • @RodneySandersTV LOL! Thanks Rodney! LOL!!!
