cleopatra was one of the first women who showed the strength of women and although she looked anything but black, asian or alien, every woman has a right to embody her. and why only cleo, even alexander should be played by actors regardless of their race but their acting ability.

I just bought the DVD and LOVED this production. I the set, clothes, props and acting was amazing. A very good buy.

I met the actress who played cleopatra on a field trip!!we went to see as you like it at Stratford with our drama teacher!!I loved the play but that same girl who played cleopatra was in it and she just completely ruined the whole play!!!such a terrible actress(no offense to her)

@loloferraccioli The actress that played Cleopatra in this adaptation of Caesar and Cleopatra wasn't in as you like it, I think you might be thinking of another actress in the show. Nikki M James was only with us during the 2009 season. I'd be curious to know how this actress ruined the play and what made her a terrible actress? Sorry to hear that one actress was able to ruin the entire play for you.

I caught this on tv a few months ago and quite enjoyed it, though the actress who played Cleopatra was really not great. She was so loud and overactive. Christopher's performance was very good though.

I saw this three times and went to see the movie...it was amazing--loved it completely. Can't wait to see him in the Tempest next season at Stratford!

I saw this last Septermber at the Stratford festival. I got Nikki James autograph and I got a ton of pictures. we were sitting on the side in the 5th row. CPlummer didn't come out for autographs. Oh well.  I hope this comes out on dvd

I saw this live and it was one of the best shows that the Stratford Shakespeare Festival put on. I would recommend everyone go see it if they have a chance. It is a one time only screening, don't miss it. I think you'll appreciate Shaw's sense of humour. It is a comedy.
