Just waiting for some equally smart software to take advantage of the depth perception of the kinect. That is when truly simple 3D scanning of small to medium sized objects will be availiable to everone on a pocket change budget.

This is still more lfexible in large scale though, and pretty impressive regardless.

Well, with things such as Transformers, they record humans in motion capture suits, and put the wire-frame person in the movie, and build the robot around it. So what you see the robots doing is actually something a person was doing. It's very similar to this. But I know what you mean.
