Thanks Bronzeonion. Up until 1970 the 38 stock was in total control of the Bakerloo Line before the introduction of the 1959s and for a short period 1967 mkIIs. There was a slight twist in 38 stock as one coach in the train was a converted 1927 standard stock trailer. They were to dive into, as they were much more comfortable.
Thanks Bronzeonion, stand corrected. Fortunately I never rode on the outside sections of the Bakerloo so never knew them at full speed. Seem to be OK in tunnels. Looking forward to a trip in Standard stock hopefully again one day with the London Transport Museum vehicles.
I was travelling between London Bridge and Stockwell in '98 - '99 and whether they had a shortage of stock or something - but one of the older red trains with the green inside. turned up "in service" - Made my day it did - though it didn't look the same without a carpet of cigarette butts on the floor! :D
@MrSignalbelle , that's right!, having worked on L.U.L they occasionally step up the current during the peak to deal with heavy loads in the sections to about 730 v DC , the traction motors wouldn't normally operate at the max on 750 .( apart from the 38 stock when it went over to the island line and was converted to 3rd rail, this actually when completed gave the 38 stock a faster aceleration rate!, due to the motors being re modified to 750 vots. thanks for your feedback!

Why can't we not use these colours once again. I cannot stand the solid white red blue livery and bright yellow poles. It's like a child's playground

Lovely train, lovely station... and then the horrid posters...
And they call that progress..

I remember this type from Jubilee Line and partially Bakerloo Line, but coloured in grey. (Or didn't the tunnel allow me see white?)

@dontrequest On the Bakerloo you must have saw the 1959 stock not the 1938 stock and on the Jubilee the 1972 stock

@bronzeonion 1959? I don't think so. Maybe 1956?

@MrSignalbelle You mean 1972 MKII's not 1967 MKII's? I heard the Standard stock trailers' suspension was terrible!

I remember travelling on them in the early seventies - but being a toddler I found it all a bit scary!

nice, how meny volts do they run on?..
MegaDavid1960 2 years ago

@MrSignalbelle , actually normally 630 v DC

Thanks hihat, should have explained this better:
Centre Conductor : -210v
Outside Conductor : +420v
On sections shared with Railtrack 3rd rail stock, the fourth rail is
bonded to the running rails and is, therefore, at 0v, with the outside
conductor rail at +630v.
Believe there are plans to raise to 750vdc on some lines when all the new subservice S Stock has been introduced.
