A very moving song by an author who failed to meet the success he deserved at the same period of a say, Leonard Cohen ? I discovered his original version decades after I learned various arrangements. To redeem myself I tabbed this version on Guitar Pro and it's available for download to everyone on my webpage. Friendly
I spent a lot of time with Jackson in Woodstock in the early '70s. I also ran some shows in Highmount, NY and always included Jackson on the bill. It's nice to see he has a presence here.
Lost 15 of his school friends in a fire, was severely burnt, lost his son to cystic fibrosis, lived on the streets alone drifting in and out of institutions, he lost everything, then just as he felt ready to come back for one last run he was shot in the eye and blinded. If pain can be used to create good music it explains why frank is the most soulful and meaningful artists of the last half a century.
The Simon and Garfunkel cover is also very good. Apparently they knew how good he was

Resinated with me from the first listen.
What an incredible man to create such beauty after a string of great sadness and suffering.

Paul Simon produced the album in '65, and Al Stewart played on two of the tracks.

Just listened to Simon and Garfunkel's cover of this; now I'm cleaning out my ears with the genuine article.
