  • Something tells me this song is referring to Anthony Kiedis' relationship to the woman who is his son's mother. Like all the others, it didn't last. And what the hell kind of name is Everly Bear?! The only school that kid's going to fit in at is Hacky Sack High.

  • Love this song! Chads drumming at the intro tells it all!

  • they have never played this song live. WHY?

  • Stop with the e-fighting.

  • josh is a genius. He is in the same dimension as John.

Be happy John is doing is own thing; Hopefully we get to hear it.

Josh is not a replacement, he's just another Chili.

I thank God for all of them.

  • I was unaware that I was learning a english lesson today... oh right I was just trying to listen to The Red Hot Chili Peppers unbotherd by nonsense. Why is that so hard to find these days?

  • @mandeeCC12 It's 'an' in your case

  • أحب هذا الكثير أكثر من الاباحية

  • BASICALLY, to summarise all these comments, the song is an epic creation.

  • From what did you come to that coclusion? lol hurr durr american, idiot hurr hurr

  • general betrayal and shadiness, represented and symbolized through references of past famous situations of betrayal? and jealousy?

  • @spartan3535 "well known" not "famous" i guess works better...

  • I WANNA THIS LIVE, FUCK

  • best song of the album!

  • Even you, Americans? xDD

  • @eltuzo466 ha ha ha...

  • Haha, Americans don't know what does the song title refer to.

  • @SchumiCRO65 uh yeah we do

  • @SchumiCRO65 The song title "Even You Brutus?" refers to the famous last words of Julius Caeser's: "Et tu, Brute?" which translates to "And you Brutus?" or "Even you Brutus?". Brutus was one of Caeser's closest friends, who turned on him and joined the assassination attempt. The phrase is used to show ultimate betrayal.

And I thought us Americans were the close-minded idiots.....

  • @mitchmagic20 So one American does know the meaning, big deal..

  • @SchumiCRO65 big deal? last time i checked you said americans dont know, well apparently there are some of us

  • @mitchmagic20 Brutus was his son

  • @TheMatt649 Marcus Junius Brutus the Elder was Brutus's father according to history. There is some speculation that since Brutus's mother was one of Caeser's known mistresses, they could be father and son. however there is no proof.

  • @mitchmagic20 I think Caesar said something like : 'tu quoque brute' :D

  • @mitchmagic20 totally wrong!

"Et tu Brute" is from shakespeare.

Caeser very likely never said something like this.

But shakespeare came to the Idea of Et tu Brute, or Even you, my son (as in timely versions) because Caeser coverd his face with his Tunic after he saw Brutus under the killers.

  • @partlycurrent Totally wrong!

Yes the quote is used in Shakespeare's play, but Shakespeare included it in the play because it was the generally accepted words at the time people thought he said, Shakespeare however made the phrase immortal. No one can know with for sure they were his last words, but its by far the most historically accepted last words.

The phrase also appears in "Caesar Interfectus" a play written 17 years before Shakespeare's play, your argument is invalid.

  • @mitchmagic20 sorry, but also that is not right.

Even though Shakespeare made that sentence famous, it is not right.

And it's not historically accepted either. It is the most common version, but Historians (at least at the college where I'm studying Latin and Roman History) go with the Version of a metaphor taken by the covering of his face.

  • @partlycurrent Whats not right and what proof do you have of your statement that whatever you didnt specify is not right? The pulling of his toga was reported by a historian, but as i said before, no one is sure what exactly happend. Roman historian Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus claimed that witnesses reported Caesar saying "You too, my child?", however Greek-Roman Historian Plutarch claimed he said nothing, and pulled his toga over his head.

Either way you should ask for your tuition back.

  • @mitchmagic20 speaking of ultimate betrayal we have Judas, one of jesus´s followers ya know

  • @BADRANG4EVER very true! thanks for pointing that out

  • @mitchmagic20 oh wow I actually thought you´d be annoyed seeing how many reply´s your comment got....not that that was my intention of course...thanks mate

  • @BADRANG4EVER oh I only get annoyed at idiots, you had a valid point ;)

  • @mitchmagic20 brutus was caeser's son...

  • @DreamingForANewDawn Marcus Junius Brutus the Younger is the son of Marcus Junius Brutus the Elder, not Caesar. However Brutus's mom (Brutus Elder's wife) was one of Caesar's mistress, so there is a very slim chance thats true, but its just a myth without any further proof.

  • @mitchmagic20 Brutus was the adopted bastard son of Caesar, not one of his closest friends. A little correction pal :)

  • @SchumiCRO65 i think everybody knows the story of it, don't think that makes you special. And i guess RHCP is a French band huh? Oh that awkward moment....

  • I doubt that you know where is France

  • @SchumiCRO65

I sincerely doubt you are able to speak proper english you french tard :)

  • @DaDutchGuy95 Haha idiot, I'm not from France.

  • @SchumiCRO65

    then what's the problem doucheface!

  • @yourdeathification You don't even know where is France.

  • @yourdeathification You don't even know where is France. But it's ok, you're just American.

  • @SchumiCRO65 France, located in Europe, on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, bordered to the south by Spain. Major landmarks include The Eiffel Tower and the catholic church Notre Dame. Seriously, Americans go to school too.........

  • @mitchmagic20 Hahah, come on. Relax, I didn't reeealy think tht you don't know about France.

  • @SchumiCRO65 Well considering the Red Hot Chili Peppers are an American band... ignorant dick.

  • @OfficialSolidState Why are u calling me a dick? Don't they teach you something in that school?

  • @HtimsrevlisNad Who's trying to?

  • @Ryoku1989 i just think this album dilutes the quality of their discography/image.

  • lol 3:19 awwwWWWWwww! :D

  • Buen album, esta comprobado que cuando los Peppers se dan un descanso hacen obras de arte . . . Hablo por Flea y Anthony, si hubieran contado con un buen guitarrista al nivel de los Peppers (no digo que Frusciante necesariamente) este album hubiera estado a la altura del By the Way o incluso mejor. Pero bueno, vale la pena escucharlo ;)

  • I like this song

  • this song made me cry of happiness. godd, they should be immortal

  • @MrEverythingYouKnow Who knows....

  • Y U NO LIKE I'M WITH YOU?

  • nvvujhnfjvygcubhng julius caesar!

Its just a sign that RHCP can make songs even better without copying anything

  • they have become so comercial! it sucks !

  • @sebgood i dont think they did,you really think so?

  • @sebgood Why? Just because the funk isn't there?

  • OMG early red hot is so much better!

  • @sebgood Sorry you don't like the new stuff as much, when did it change for you, was it at Californication or was it even earlier than that for you?

  • fucking TUNE!

  • RHCP >

  • the whole album is awesome. bought it a week after the release date. bands have to seek more modern sounds because the base of listeners is growing and going younger and younger. I myself like mostly metal and hard rock, but this kind of alternative bands are good aswell. Check out a British band called Franz Ferdinand for similar music :P far less known though

  • @RPNocando of cores because non of us have heard of Franz Ferdinand *sigh*

  • buen video}

  • evreyone says he looks like hitler, but did hitler have a funky mustache? :)

  • Heheee! Rapping sounds nice :)

  • those who think this song is unchilli pepperesk, go listen to there early stuff. anthony is a rapper at heart yo.

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers make rap sound good.

    How do they DO that?!

  • @thyopet this is not rap bro...it's called Red Hot Chilli Peppers!

  • @thyopet cuz they mix everything thats why i love them they mixxed rap with some rock I <3 RHCP

  • @thyopet I think this is more yelling than it is rapping, but Anthony has shown repeatedly in the past that he's a pretty good rapper, especially in their 80s stuff.

  • 28 Juni Nijmegen! looking forward to it!<3

  • @SlashLover17 me too pal ;p

  • His rapping has only improved with time. He used to just shout words without any real cadence or rhythm, now it's melodic, while still funky. He's evolved as a musician, and I think this is one of their best new songs. (Favorite has to be Annie Wants a Baby or Brendan's Death Song though)

  • @UnrelentingUnreality What about Sir Psycho Sexy? :o

  • the best after the adventures of raindance maggie.

  • And Stevie says

  • This rap is definitely different from stuff like "Fight Like a Brave" or "Give It Away," but it's a nice direction.

  • 01/06/2012 => LIVE IN BELGIUM !!! Rock Werchter !!

  • Sounds a bit Kasabian at the beggining...love it :)

  • @orsollka which part?

  • @schwiiZZZ At the first verse I thouhgt I heard Tom Meighan singing :) It's pretty good when Anthony shows how colorful singer he really is.

  • Amazing.

  • this is the fucking best song in the CD... i want to see a live!!!!!

  • @kdista1 They will be in Tampa in 4 weeks... I'm so ready for them!!

  • @kdista1 i am seein live :D :D :D

  • Bass + piano combination is just amazing

  • this soong is a read rock

  • i am in fucking love!!

  • no need to insult eminem.... hes a great artist and has nothing to do with anthony. rchp are better but why the need to compare them to a rap artist.... smdh at youtube comments
