@kelvman1998 U can give them both vitamin c tablets and veggies and fruits! Melon is vitaminrich so its good to give them it. But i dont. I give them salad, carrots (sometimes) cucumber, apples sometimes, and i also let them go out the grass ( with a sort of a cage so they cant get attacked by birds) so they can eat grass:D I read something on a website that grass give them Vitamin C actually! And remember dont put c vitamin tablets in the water!! Thank you, and have a good day! Hope i helped!
im gunna get 2 guinie pigs soon and i already know that that's not a good idea.... and the small cages they put these poor animals in! i dont mean to sound like a stupid peta idiot, but thats what i would use as a travel cage!
You only need to feed them vegies and it says to drive all the way to rancho cocamunga to get the best health care for I guinea pig. FALSE If they have those small cages and follow the "experts" they are a horible pet store I'm PIST
I hate theese videos! I'm 11 and I know more than you!!!! Vitamin drops taste bad I had to force my guinea pig to drink regular wayer because he thought water taste bad if not he would go to the vet. Oh and putting a wheel in the cage could break it's spine and oh those cages for the poor piggies are WAY TO SMALL don't listen to the "experts"
Don't put it in the water my guinea pig thought water tasted bad so he didn't drink I had to change the water and force her to drink if not I would of had to get a vet
You people are idiots. You are not even experts. Do not put Vitamin C in their water because they won't drink it. Just give them fresh veggies! You need to delete this video because it is giving wrong information especially to first-time Cavy owners. I'm 11 years old and I know more information on Guinea Pigs than you knuckle heads!
Don't trust the experts. The vitamin c in their water is NOT A GOOD IDEA!! They don't like the taste and they shoould have enough vitamin C with their veggies, anyway! I'm 12. C'mon.
False information once again expertvillage! Of all vet offices that you could have used... why on earth did you use one that specialized in dogs? Do you realize that Guinea pigs and dogs are completely different? You don't need Vitamin C tablets and you don't need to pollute your guinea pigs water with VC. You only need fresh veggies. Please remove this video.
@veggiemann uh no because fruits have a lot of sugar that can make your guinea pig fat. also, there are a lot of vegetables that have more vitamin c in them than oragnes supprisingly
not to mention vit. c supplements in their water will make their water taste bad! which is why they don't drink the water. It's like forcing a human to drink only gatorade whenever they are thirsty.
This video is extremely misleading. Obviously these people aren't cavy savvy. DO NOT USE VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS. They're just JUNK and sugary. VITAMIN C SHOULD BE SUPPLEMENTED FOR CAVIES THROUGH GREEN BELL PEPPERS DAILY and other vegetables daily. and do not think that oranges will supplement their Vit. C either. Oranges are acidic and sugary, containing very little C. Green bell peppers contain the full supplement they need.
your not supposed to put vitamin C supplements in their water! Guinea pigs drink different amounts of water, its immpossible to know how much their are getting. Vitamin C supplements are NOT good!
DO NOT PUT DROPS IN YOUR GUINEA PIGS WATER! my guinea pig stoped drinking his water so we just feed him lots of fresh veggies. I LOVE GUINEA PIGS!!!!!!!!!!
Vitamin C drops in your piggie's water, is fine. I've owned 8 guinea pigs, and they've all lived very long lives. Vitamin C drops are fine, they do no harm, just sometimes a piggie may b=not like the taste but all the ones I've had so far have been fine with it.
actually vitamin C in the water is NOT a good idea. The guinea pig could not like the taste of the extra vitamins, so u stop giving the supplement in the water, the guinea pig will most likely not go back to drinking even the clean water because they associate the water bottle with the taste they didnt like. i wouldnt imagine that this 'expert' didnt kno that.i mean im only 13 and i have a guinea pig, but am i an expert? No but thats true about the water...(wat i said not her)
@HorseCrazyGirl123 But it is possible that they will like it because my two piggies, Charmin and Chole, drink they're water just fine. They have not had any problems with finishing a 16 oz water bottle every week or even sometimes in ghalf a week. It all truely depends on the piggy itself because some will drink while others would not.
@rockstar7809 I, give them the whole tablet, they dont (OFC) not swallow them, they taking it whole tablet with their teeths take it down on the ground and take bit of the vitamin chews, then take some more and chews and so over. So u can just give them the whole tablet. It could happen that the other guniea pig steals the other guniea pigs tablet. But ur choice.
you'd think an expert and a vet would know that you aren't supposed to use the liquid vitamin C suppliments, as most guinea pigs do not like the taste, and vitamins tend to diminish after a short while
every day?

The reason why guinea pigs don't drink water having vitamins, is that they smell a lot.
When they sense, that it's not water, they don't drink it.
I had to change the bottle, so it wouldn't smell.
It's good to give them vitamins, but not putting them in the water.

can u give a piggie to much vitamin C ????
lilliem123 3 years ago
i find friut and vegitables are the easyest way to get Vitamin c into my piggie
cuz they normally take one nibble out of the tablets and tehn just leave it and not eat it
so i gave up with that idea and stuck to fruit and veggies i know have lots of C in them
Momiji1005 3 years ago
just give em vegetables and fruit for vitamin C, it is easier and they will like it more

Mhm. From an EXTREMELY trusted GP site, one that's well known among cavy owners:
*Do not add vitamin C to the water. *
-Water is vital to good health but because vitamin C changes the flavor, they may drink less.
-Ascorbic acid degrades rapidly once added to water.
-Some cavies drink a lot and some very little, so it is impossible to know how much vitamin C your pet is getting.
