@digitaldoodler7 By the way I think it's pretty well known that metal, nearer the technical end of the spectrum, shares some obvious similarities with classical music. It tends to be based around more complex, longer and more varied song structures than most popular music, rather than being based around hooks, and a single melody, there tend to be various things going on, counter rhythms and counter melodies etc. It is generally less immediately 'hooky' and requires more attentive listening.

As for the joke, she's really not to blame. Awkward ordinary people who are suddenly thrust into celebrity are often encouraged to take "learn how to be charming on camera" lessons. Just about anybody can learn this, practice makes perfect. While most of us would rather see her "be herself," it is likely a sound business decision & of great comfort to her to have a well rehearsed performance in the hopper to carry her through on camera time.

Try to play the shit out of the harp the way she does and sing beautiful intricate melodies at the same type. Then put it out there for the world to hear. We'll all be able to nitpick how different your singing voice sounds from your normal voice.
I don't think her voice is a result of her playing because there are a lot of artists who can play and sing intricate and complicated things on both their instrument and voice and sound just fine. Her voice is a deliberate part of her act. It's supposed to add to her charm as an element of "quirk". A lot of people seem to love it! I can understand how others don't, however.

As for the joke, she's really not to blame. Awkward ordinary people who are suddenly thrust into celebrity are often encouraged to take "learn how to be charming on camera" lessons. Just about anybody can learn this, practice makes perfect. While most of us would rather see her "be herself," it is likely a sound business decision & of great comfort to her to have a well rehearsed performance in the hopper to carry her through on camera time.

I have to say that there are times where I really like her voice, and times where I really don't. I do love her skills with the harp. Maybe she's an "acquired taste" and I need to listen to her a little more to enjoy her fully. :)

Look at Resident Evil 5. The game takes place in Africa, so you kill African zombies. But because they were black for some reason it was suddenly worse than if, let's say, the game had taken place in France. Would it be offensive that all the zombies killed were French?
If you noticed, she didn't say anything bad about midgets. The joke just happened to feature them. Lighten up! :)

To everyone complaining about her singing voice:
Try to play the shit out of the harp the way she does and sing beautiful intricate melodies at the same type. Then put it out there for the world to hear. We'll all be able to nitpick how different your singing voice sounds from your normal voice.

I don't think her voice is a result of her playing because there are a lot of artists who can play and sing intricate and complicated things on both their instrument and voice and sound just fine. Her voice is a deliberate part of her act. It's supposed to add to her charm as an element of "quirk". A lot of people seem to love it! I can understand how others don't, however.
