Awesome model Sir,I`m a retired Air Force crew chief .I worked F-15 and F-16`s for almost 24 years.Amazing details, you are a fantastic builder Sir.David USAF RET.....
@xCrosSxKnInE The most noticeable difference on the "E" are these big bulges that run along the sides. These are called FAST packs and contain fuel and other systems that are unique to the "E". Among other things are fatter tires, stronger landing gear, see-in-the-dark gear, bulged landing gear doors, more vents for APUs and things like that. The camouflage is much darker as well.
Damn , What an Awesome Build! Cockpit needs to be Lit Up with LEDs...He could use some Pastel Chalk(Black) for his Afterburner Exhaust...it does get extremely Hot and smoky burn look, or use Pigment powder...Cheers! 5*
I love Tamiya they're such a great company. Most of my 1/35 and all my 1/48 scale armour is Tamiya. Just out of curiosity, did someone purchase the kit for you to build for the video or is a simple how-to-do? Awesome build the only after market item I noticed that you got was the decals. What's the make?
Not gloss-coating before putting on decals is kind of an amateur mistake. $150 kit, probably $50 worth of paint (Alclad is expensive), $20 custom decals, and the end result in all silvered. No decal softener in the world will settle over flat paint.
@Madera1966 Yeah, shame on that one. I personally would have used a gloss coat on top of the base and another semi-matte on top of the decals to seal. Also it's never a good idea to cut the film from the decals as it adds yet more wrinkles.
@miguelitogg Guys, than make a fucken video and let's see your skills. This guy was helping a novice modeller like myself a lot more than you and ''Ficon'' running your mouths like little girls.
Es muy bueno este video, me sirvió mucho para mi maqueta y puedo decir que de observar y observar me di cuenta de algunos detalles, sólo para mencionar alguno las calcas quedaron con silvering, como puede ser? en fin igual está bueno.
@acanthopleura The small SQUARE bottles are Tamiya Enamel Paint, the round bottles are Tamiya Arylic paint....The difference between the two kind of paint bottles is easy to spot, and the process can therefore be followed without understanding Japanese language, so YES he used Enamel paint!
looks like "liquid mask", humbol make a purple version of this , i have found this can sometimes leave a ragged paint edge so i use tamiya masking tape around the edge of the frame and liquid mask for the other areas
Great aircraft, I think the only problem is that in the end when they rotate it around the light you can see the decals flashing in the light at the right angles. To prevent the decals from "flashing" I like to coat the model in a gloss sealant, then apply the decals, coat again in gloss, and then coat in a flat sealant. That way you can't see the decal "flashing" in the light. Other than that, nice F-15E, he's a master for sure!
Exactly! It took me a while before I understood that simple but effective technique. Decal setting solutions also help big time in getting rid of the carrier film, Solvaset is the best!
yes, microscale has a whole kit for decals, solve a set would be "microset" and for thicker decals there is "microsol" the results are brilliant i'm sure tamiya also has their own sets
Very nice! I wish we had a TV show over here in the US like this, the general public just doesn't understand! This series really gives a great deal of respect and honor to the modeler's endevors and the music lends a real heroic feel to it all!
awesome finish. i have one question, when he used the flat black to detail the plane. did he put it on and then rubbed it off? leaving the paint settle within the cracks?

Looks like major silvering under the decals. He should have used a gloss coat.

note tho, that F-15`s were using FAST packs before the E came out.
Here in Europe, the Eagles based at Kevlavik were easely identifyable when they came to Soesterberg, they always had on FAST packs.

They don't have nose art like that. at most an AF emblem or a Rocketeers emblem because it's yellow.

im guessing its an acrylic wash...cuz he sprayed a coat of gloss before. JUST A GUESS ok :)
but i recomend oil washes instead there alot easier to clean. hope it helps :)
