I'd almost be willing to agree with giving black people reparations, if I could be sure that would be the end of the whole racial guilt/affirmative action thing.
But it wouldn't. Blacks would want reparations AND continued racial preferences. And I'll bet that in the end ALL non-whites -- including those that were never slaves -- would end up getting reparation money as well, just like they ended up getting affirmative action benefits. No-one in 150 years (many generations) has owned slaves, yet slavery is still an ongoing pestilence in Arab, African, Indian and Asian countries, maybe Lu should volunteer retributions to the slaves his ancestral family owned. Between racial preferences, set-aside jobs and school seats and funds, we've been paying reparations for fifty years. It's time overdo to do as Dr. M.L. King, treat everyone based on their character not their color. Preferences cause divisions, as if Lu didn't know this.

What it requires is blacks to stop having babies when they are still children themselves. Go to school, get educated and earn what they get. What penalty will be applied to the black slave traders that took these people out of the jungle and sold them. They are the primary perpetrators of slavery. How come no mention of them? Even if I accept your premise that whites have benefitted from slavery (which I do not), the American blacks today have benefitted a thousand times more.
