  • I need help with rolling..

    I guess I roll the right way, but whenever I'm about to get out of a roll, my right leg usually sticks out more, and I can't get back on my feet fluently to keep running.

    Please help. I'd appreciate it :)

  • ok i will try and explain a little bit here. First of all get your shoulder down to the ground like it shows on the video but without doing the roll balance your body to your shoulder and push slowly with your feet you will be in a potition of almost suckin' yourself but its a good excercise to help you undrstand how rolling works and maybe lifting your fears about hurting yourself. Its very important to be calm so your muscles dont be contracted when you do the roll.If you disagree pls comment!

  • Im learning how to do this but i dont completely understand how to connect my shoulder to my hip while rolling. i end up hurting my back while i practice this. can someone help me with this?

  • im interested in getting into this shit. but i have scoliosis. my back natural curves in and cant bend. so i dont have the curve to roll on so i would come halfway around and slam into the ground. does anyone have any ideas how i could modify this in a way i could do it? any help would be appreciated.

  • @Nutterbaskets Yeah, but compress the impact by bending down when you hit the ground and go into the roll. Do not let your legs become an angle of less than 90 degrees. That means try to keep the legs bent at angle somewhere between 100-160ish degrees.

  • @Nutterbaskets ya, but work your way up to it. You don't want to do it so sudden. Startlike 1-4 ft and progressively move up to that height.

  • When did this i always roll on my shoulder BUT NOW IT HURTS. When im rolling i hit my knee and when im going to roll all the impact is going to my knee so mainly i just broke my knee. This didn't help at all

  • What the hell? I try this and my stance is just as in the video but when I try the role, even though I'm going shoulder first my knew always makes a hard impact before I go into the roll. Apart from that I can get it. But if I did in a real scenario the entire impact would go into my knee, which would be pointless.

  • i noticed when ryan was showing the first few proggressions he finished with his back leg on its side(his ancle touching the ground).ive been teaching my friend how to roll and i notice him doing this a lot. the end result is when he roll will any form of momentum he has trouble recovering to a standing possition.when ryan rolls out of muscle memory he (when doing the more difficult moves)he ends his roll with the soles of his feet touching the ground. just something for beginers to look out for

  • @Gryzz1e i have found some phenomen, look at his back and his angle to the ground.

    i saw some people who have an angle like 45 degrees.

    tried it too, and some times it doesn't hurt.

    Take an clip of your roll from the front and watch the angle between your back and the ground. Try some other positions to change this angle.

    Maybe it will work.

  • NRGpyer, the problem is you hit your shoulder, try to get more momentum forward so you end up hitting your shoulder blade, I had this problem too and for a week my shoulder was sore, hope this helped if not search Google for parkour rolls

  • @10055870 hey, is it possible to parkour in winter, or is it just very hard and not recommended. i'm trying to practice but its january, and i can get any traction when i try.

  • @TheD3xtorial you can do parkour in the winter, but know your limits. I wouldn't recommed things like precision jumps and extreme stuff like that, but things like, vaults, rolls, (on the snow), and maybe even something like cat grabs. :D

Ive watched all ur videos especially this one.... and i think ive gotten the roll down but for some reason my shoulder still hurts when i roll on concrete and only concrete..... i no im supposed to roll on the back of my shoulder but it still hurts... will i get used to this pain and it will eventually go away or am i still doing it wrong

  • THANK YOU!!! I've been working on my roll for a while now, and it is good enough to take some of the impact but it needs improvement. Finally someone who walks you through progressions instead of just demonstrating it once and wishing you luck! Those videos still help but not as much... One thing though... Note that you don't really go down the center of your back but more diagonal to avoid unnecessary strain on your spine... I noticed that even though you said center you still went diagonal lol

    Basically you try knee yourself in the face while you rock backwards and right before your knees get too close, straighten out like a stick and land on your feet.

  • @crow33215 What's wrong with it? Even my friend who did Martial Arts showed me the correct way to forward roll. I was trying to do the third progression and he tried to tell me I was doing a forward roll wrong and showed me how he does it since his rolls could be different and it was the same as the second progression. I guess I can't just dive well enough.

  • @mrpyrotech96 @edgeofsense It wont always hurt no, but doing it so it doesn't hurt at all requires a ridiculous amount of perfection(and ofcourse, if there is a little stone or something on the concrete, u can't avoid some pain, but say it's just flat concrete)
