But you should not define a style of music as the same with the politics or religion of the period!

Lol, I wish that when I see the label Rameau, that it actually IS Rameau who wrote the piece.
This music sound like it's AT LEAST a generation older than Rameau - it has Renaissance and even Medieval undertones to the dance melody.
Very nice music though! Great costumes too.

Un compositeur hérite autant qu'il invente sinon davantage.
Ses patrons (église, aristocratie, corporations) ne sont pas connus pour leur désir de contemporanité.
Bach en 1749 n'écrivit pas dans le style de ses fils ou de Stamitz, très à la mode.
Haydn en 1809 n'écrivit pas comme Beethoven.
