  • he plays like a monkey.....watch argerich playing the same piece

  • Ladies and Gentleman ! You have seen Rhapsody Chinese No6

    (with fantastic technical ability )

  • Ladies and Gentleman ! You have seen Rhapsody Chinese No6

  • If Liszt was turning any more in his grave he'd be drilling a hole in it.

  • I laugh my head off everytime I listen to this

  • hmm.... i have to give him an A for energy... other than that.... no comment

  • he's fucking the piano~ lol and the piano loves it~

  • What the fudge is this movement all about. He's looks like he needs to use the potty.

  • ouch my ears

  • It's just an awful bastardization of a phenomenally beautiful AND difficult piece of music. It's not about the music, it's about Lang Lang.

  • Poor Lang Lang. He does some good things with all what he plays, but it often falls short- like this terrible performance. Horowitz once wondered why people think if you play slowly, it becomes more profound? It doesnt. He just cant muster the same speed, sound and consistancy as Horowitz, Argerich and even Cziffra. This younger fellow Grynyuk, is truly fantastic. His octaves were made by Yamaha in their consistancy. Cziffra, he is exciting, but struggles with this piece.

  • FUCK THIS CHINESE MORON!!!

  • 0:43 Dear Lang Lang, the fact that it says fortissimo it doesn't mean that you don't have to break the poor piano, the poor people's ears, or Liszt's heart.

  • WTF IS THIS

  • The recorder only recorded last one minute of this piece.....I think his interpretation is fun for this part. I like it. The recording quality is really horrible though......

  • ROFLMAO!!!!! I watched Alexei grynyuk and thought "hey Langlang has very fast technique I wonder how he played this" comments rolled me over. Thanks

  • eewwwwww

  • oh stop whining, people............

  • I think its awesome... not lyrical enough at the beggining, but dashing and exciting and extremely musical at the end...more so than horowits, argerich or schiffra!!

Horowits often took license, and threw protocal completely out the window... but he could because he is horowits and he understands the music. Lang lang can get away brilliantly with just the same.... sometimes!!... this is fantastic!!!!

  • @yossiban How is it musical the end?!?! It's so unbelievably blurred you can barely hear a melody of any sort. He completely smothers any trace of Liszt's music with his own flamboyant display of antics.

  • This was okay, it's just a tad bangy. And I admit, it is probably one of the worst of the best. He has extremely amazing technique though. His hands looked awesome!!!

  • ouch

  • pig..........

  • him at his MOST drunken state! 疯了!

  • Everyone, this is not the B minor sonata. This is HR# 6 - not a "beautiful piece" that requires "study of dynamics." It's a loud, silly piece, and he plays accordingly... Liszt probably would like the extreme, over the top style... cause that's the type of piece it is.

  • Comment removed

  • @trtnec

Of course its not the Sonata in B minor. I'm not sure why anyone would think it is, Liszt's Sonata in B minor is , totally different.

And you should stop talking for others. You must not the the piece well at all if you claim that, have you heard the lassan? Or possibly even the opening themes? It is a "Beautiful piece" but only in my opinion. It's not , load and silly. That's how you take it, and Liszt simply is not your style of Romantic Music.

And how would you know what Liszt want

  • @ClassicMusicOnly lol I'm making a point, obviously everyone knows and I know it's not the B Minor Sonata, I'm just making a POINT that people are caring way too much about "dynamics" and "sensitivity", tempo, etc. on a PART of a piece that is very straightforward, fast and bombastic. If you think this section (I meant section, not the whole piece) is supposed to be "beautiful" then I think you are missing the point, but sure, go ahead and think that. And I like playing Liszt the most...

  • @trtnec

You like playing Liszt? What kind of pianist, or piano player are you if you don't care about dynamics and sensitivty and tempo? I'm surprised that you can even speak that way. You take pianism like nothing special. This section is beautiful, only when Lang Lang does not play it.

  • @ClassicMusicOnly Who says I don't care about those things? Why is it so hard to understand that this is how I would envision this part of this piece to be played (for the most part, maybe not as extreme). That doesn't mean I'd play every part of every piece by Liszt this way. Like I said before, this part of the piece is not as complex as parts of the B Minor Sonata and other pieces by him. I think most people would agree with me and if you don't, fine, leave it at that.

  • @trtnec

"I'm just making a POINT that people are caring way too much about "dynamics" and "sensitivity", tempo, etc."

I just caught you in your own words. Its obvious that the Sonata in B minor is a lot more complex. Its not hard to understand, I just replied to your original comment because you were not making an opinion. I just simply said, speak for yourself. A lot of people will agree with me, that the Hungarian Rhapsody 6 is a great piece and a beautiful one.

  • @ClassicMusicOnly you didn't catch anything, you're just taking things out of context, In that quote it's obvious that I'm talking about the VIDEO we are commenting on, not music in general. The "point" I was making was specifically referring to the comments on the music in this video. It's clear English is not your first language so I'll forgive you for taking things out of context. (psst, it's "classical" music not "classic")

  • @trtnec

How do you know if I did or did not? The quote is obviously catching you in your words, since YOU think that dynamics and sensitivity don't matter in this piece. They matter in every piece. The point you were trying to make, is simply stupid. People should care, and make a point about it. You seem to let everything go, like you don't care about the world. Its not clear, but its true, and YOU forgive ME? Where did you get that from? You have nothing to forgive to me.(Psst, I'm not a idio

  • @trtnec

    t. I know, but ClassicalMusicOnly, was taken already. Stop making a show of yourself. Your an idiot.)

  • @ClassicMusicOnly lol, then don't misrepresent what I said, you implied that I was referring to ALL music. I was referring to the PART of the piece in THIS video which is NOT very dynamic and you know it, it is fast, playful, then LOUD, we can both go look at the sheet music. And next time you make a user name don't say "classic music" because there's no such genre, add a number after a name that's taken. You ARE an idiot if you think "classic music" suffices as a replacement.

  • @trtnec

lol-? Well that already shows your ignorance. Next, I'm sorry, maybe I did, maybe I did not misapprehend your little ignorant comments. Its not my fault I was born to a Polish-Austrian family. I can agree, the ending of this piece is not very dynamic, and the presto octaves should be loud, but you have to control yourself at the end. And you still have to control the dynamics. The is no need to make another user name. I know there is no genre of music as Classic, and I don't feel like

  • @ClassicMusicOnly You are annoying and hypocritical! You always tell people not to call you an idiot, but I just read your comments and you were the one that started the "idiot" calling. Dude, give it a rest! We all have our own opinions, just like how I had my own opinion last time I met you and you just wouldn't have it. Stop arguing with people, give it a rest. THis is youtube, you won't agree with everything said here

  • @modelstatue

I'm annoying and hypocryticial? You don't even know me, so how can you make such a statement. If you look at the comment, he began calling me names first. I never call people anything until they call me. In this, I never started an argument. It was he who began all this. I just said, that this is not just a stupid bangy piece. I don't argue, I just disagree, and you can't take that right from me.

  • @trtnec

adding a number. I'm not the idiot because I never said its a replacement. Your the idiot that makes his ignorant begins to his comments, and makes up some kind of weird things that I thought this, or am this. Please. Go talk like that with people that are at your IQ level, and at your social level. If there even is one for you.

Now end this silly disagreement. Your making a show of yourself for no need. Stop trying to win with me. You can't,

  • @ClassicMusicOnly LMAO, didn't I get into an argument with you a few months back about this same Rhapsody...omg, dude, you gotta get a life. You're still arguing with other people about this EXACT same rhapsody and it's been like 6 months! LMAO!!!

  • @modelstatue

I don't even know you, be advised that there is another user with a vary simular user, but anyways, I don't need get a life. I come on YT, once a day, to check my account, and occasionally comment on a video or two. Just because some ignorant people decide to start a fight from it is not my fault. I just stand tall to my opinion, that's what seems to bother people, that they can't brainwash me into thinking the way they do. Now enough about this, we are to talk about music.

  • This guy is the worst pianist ever. Did he ever listen to Liszt?

  • Eh, he has great technique, but I'm not a big fan of his interpretations...

  • he is doing gym lol at 1:04

  • basically rubbish, but I curiosly enjoyed his playing from 1:10+

  • I don't think this is well played

he plays so fast that he makes many mistakes and it doesn't sound good when he watches out for how he looks and not for how to play this piece.

  • i agree with kyle lol

  • woaaaa :)

  • LOL the ending was uncalled for.

  • Is this a student competition? Then why are they all drinking wine?

    Signed,

    Puzzled

  • hahaha he's such a spazz.

Other than a little messiness in the presto octave section it was good though

  • 0:36 doesn't it say stringendo? With means faster (closer) -.- I use to play faster and faster till I get up to presto tempo and hold it there ^^

  • Yeah. And according to the sheet music, 1:00+ should become slower while he accelerates. But actually, I like the way he played 0:49 - 0:59 and 1:02+.

  • It does? :S I've got 2 scores of this piece and in none of them it's it should go slower :P

Well it doesn't say to accelerate, but a lot of pianist do that anyway, to make it exiting, including me :D

  • Disgusting...he's getting drowned in his own arrogance, wants to impress ladies, but he doesn't have musicalness, he only bangs the piano :(

  • Well, maybe he is tired with No.2...

  • now that's how ya play a rhapsody lol

  • No, it's not.

  • to each his own lol

  • lang lang is one of the most technical pianist of our time

  • Terrible! Again a big noise without conveying any musical message and vulgarity at its peak.

Why doesn't he play Bach, Scarlatti, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert... An immense solo piano literature.. Where are they?

Just a couple of known-to-ears Liszt, bit of a Chopin...

What else does this great pianist play?

  • i wonder if u can play better than him....

  • Whos asking?

    Somebody with a music background?

Or an amateur playing an instrument?

    Or a high level listener?

PS: In case, someday, you don't like the food in a restaurant and you're questioned by the staff if you can cook better, I suggest be harsh on them Most likely, they have an opinion on cooking without having knowledge about it Prevent such places!

    Cheers!

  • Showmanship..

  • His technique is wonderful though!

  • silence......a genius ....chapeau bas

  • Well, I think his play is a mess. Although Liszt encourages pianists to go crazy, it doesn't mean you can strike the piano like that... ...

  • I bet this guy goes on youtube to check all the hate he's getting. Then again, they have censorship laws in China. Poor guy, but he's pretty bad Liberace.

  • ZOMFG disregard my last comment. After listening to this bullshit, I can't help but cry!!! Liszt is rolling in his grave with his ears bleeding to this asshole for destroying the passages!!! OMFG!

  • god he looks so dumb

  • worst Hungarian Rhapsody No.6 I ever heard in my entire life. OMG!!! this guy should study dynamics, tempo and liszt composition... liszt would hate this performance.

  • I never saw Lang Lang so mad ...Its a pity because he is better than this... (Im not a Lang lang fan fan but I am not a Lang Lang hater either)

  • A weak parody on Cziffra's stunning Bb octaves in the left hand. Lang, go listen to Cziffra's rendition of Grand Galop Chromatique and LEARN how to do the Bb octaves in the left!

  • I think Lang Lang is bit...exhibitionist, no?

  • so is Yundi Li, watch his videos, his face gets all deformed when he makes facial expressions. Its hilarious. But he never gets criticized like Lang Lang does. Lang is good!

  • I like Yundi Li's performance a lot more, Lang Lang is exhibitionist without music feeling...Youndi Li's facial expressions are not so terrible than this piano smashing...

  • yundi li isn't criticized because you can tell what he is playing unlike bang bang

  • Liszt Just rolled over in his grave at 0:44

  • LOOOL!

  • best comment on youtube of all time

  • @Abchase1890

    AHAHA u're right :D

  • Lang Lang the Comedian strikes again.

  • Energetic, youthful and showy, and im not one to usually make bad comments on pianists, but... is it just me, or in a few years is lang lang going to come out with some serious hand damage, theres a reason pianists (and especially liszt) say that relaxation while playing is most important

  • An insult to Liszt and his music!

  • It was fine until 0:44 when he started pounding away. Why does he do that when he only lends legitimacy to those that call him Bang Bang?

Unfortunately for the music, Lang Lang was playing for the ladies this time.

  • Unbelievably bad. Devoid of any musicality. Horrible. I don't think there are words in the English lexicon that can adaquately express how incredibly bad this is.

  • Much Ado About Nothing

  • Wonderful! Brilliant! Great Chinese pianist!

  • I agree with your last two words

  • horrible

  • excellent!!!

  • terrible

  • HORRIBLE!!

  • hor ur mum's pussy ! fuking bite it off

  • ridiculous

  • what a clown performance! he looks like those kids kungfu series actor... Not a serious pianist...

  • but plays piano 20 million times better than you do? JEALOUSY!

  • is this an edited version, though? the sound is not right. anyone in this concert?

  • I think so, too. Video clip. Some of his expressions of laughter are not very probable.

Chinese fake production, as all the imitated industrial products. China is a low quality country.

  • horrible.

nice dismount, though. kinda looked like he was doing cable flys.

  • If he really loved LISZT as one hopes a concert pianist does when playing masterpieces as this, he would NOT defile it in such a manner.

This is pure noise , LISZT is surely turning over in his grave.

LANG LANG acts like he is channeling LIBERACE but he didn't bring the technique of LIBERACE with him so it sounds like a convoluted rubato driven MESS

  • i'm gonna post a replie to this in a couple of weeks showing how its meant to be played!

  • i've posted it please rate

  • Comment removed

  • What an absolute racket. Smashing up the piano with a hammer would souns so much better than this! What a shame. Lang Lang is usually such a fine player.

  • horrible

  • HORRIBLE

  • He looks like a rock star playing.

  • i would rather listen to my sister play and she cant even play piano

    shes only 2

  • horrible!

  • Lang Lang is a great pianist. It's just that ppl are too focused on criticizing on how he looks when he plays, and also the fact that he's asian. If he was white, but played exactly the same way, producing the exact same sound, you ppl wouldn't hate him so.

  • But his facial expressions are so rediculous and he takes such awful poses BECAUSE he is an asian!Have you ever seen a white man or woman looking so much like pokemon shit? They do not respect classical music,it;s all video games for them.

  • piano is supposed to be fun. if it wasn't fun, he wouldn't play it, right?

and his... expressions is just his own way of... expressing music. i find it weird, but i can respect that... altho it does distract ppl lol

  • No. Not Great. Just athletically priveledged.

  • sounds like shit

  • argerich czyffra horowitz e poi ne pariamo....

  • Lang Lang semble toujours se battre avec son piano,je déteste le regarder!

  • this is so revolting. lang lang, if you ever read this, I THINK YOU"RE LAME BUDDY

  • 还是不如Maksim

  • again with the face expressions

  • I have a lot of respect for Lang Lang, particularly the way he spreads classical music to general audiences. But.... I am sorry to say that his performance and personality always bother me!!

  • First Sentence. That's what he's here for.

  • What a fucking sooo stupid showing off!!

    Is that necessary?!

  • Would your logic work if an Asian was raised in a European culture or an European influenced culture? What about Yuja Wang? Do you think her being Chinese is working against her?? I don't like many of Lang's interpretations but your logic is flawed, your statement is flawed, do not pass go, do not collect two hundred....

  • Everyone's entitled to their own opinions. I may prefer Horowitz's playing, but you may prefer Lang's. There you go.

  • my piano teacher agrees with me that he's a clown and a showman so nur

  • i agree that u and ur teacher are clown jealouser too

  • Hehe. Once again a bombastic-showmanship-performance by clown-pianist Lang Lang. It's a shame cuz he actually has such incredible skills. But he only uses them to impress people who don't know a shit about classical music by spectacular virtouism. Listen to Lang Lang's interpretations of Mozart Sonatas. There he shows his great talent. He plays them controlled, with fine harmony and emotion and in the right tempo. Why doesn't he always do that?!

  • @KevinDorner cause this is Liszt, a universe apart from Mozart and classical music. I love these wannabe elistists who are just so emotionally turned off by this video that they automatically assume Lang Lang shows a horrible understanding of this piece when it's in fact simply the emotions of someone who doesn't know anything about the music actually acting up. There is not much depth to this piece people, that's why he is playing it for this audience.

  • I will never understand the appeal of this cretin

  • idiot...

  • i saw him play this live and he bounced out of his seat at the end.

  • I can hardly find words to express what I feel... I didn't even dream that so beautiful music can mutilated in such a way... Superfast banging and total, but total lack of musicianship. Just when one thinks there could be no more vulgar performance of a piece, here comes Lang Lang and proves the opposite...

  • Comment removed

  • omg what a hack lmao

  • Where can i see the full performance?

  • Yes he is amazing and a phenominal pianist - when he wants to be!! In this video he just lost the plot and went totally beserk. I`ve heard him play this live in concert and it was 100% better than this.

  • Hahahahhahaha he could be a clown:)

  • haha. alexei grynyuk does have a very colorful technique.

I just think it's funny that he wears glitters like liberace.

  • Pillock

  • Bravo!

  • this piece is not the top hard one, why so struggle as if you almost cannot make it ?

  • Comment removed

  • why is that a whole crapload of people insulting him are getting positive ratings while a lot of people praising him are getting bad ratings. i personally love him. i don't like this video. but i liked it when he played it at a concert i went to.

  • amazing..

  • So stupid...

  • i'm not going to make fun of LL, even though he does invite it, all i am going to say is that it is hard to take this guys playing seriously. Mainly because of how he can't control himself during the song. Its a distraction to his interpretation and artistry...i never heard liszt but from reading about him i'm pretty sure liszt was nothing like this in sound or showmanship. This new age we live in might accept LL's "showmanship" today, but this would not of been welcomed in liszts time.

  • He's doing publicity right, that's what.

  • well I prefer european interpretations.

  • hahaha people who think he is bad at the piano need to take some lessons i think.

  • HAha.

  • he simply owns the stage... all those jealous noobs who think they are better, plz go practice more and hold a competition with him and get pwned.
