  • I think we "danced" to this...

  • Amazing - this song just touches and runs around my soul every time I listen to it...

  • I've thought about this for a long. long time: Greatest American musical poets, Petty and Seger - Moreso than Dylan and Springsteen and Henley (who are all jaded and cynical and uncomfortable with their place, and ours, in history.) Greatest contemporary American composer? Metheny. His music exudes a quite joy and confidence and the notion of a limitless horizon. He writes a certain happiness into every song he records. His music is heroic and vast and without shame. I love that.

  • @WasabeJoe Good comment. Many of his compositions evoke such a feeling of "longing" within me, it's almost surreal. Longing for my younger days, for a new life, for love, for intangible things that I couldn't even begin to articulate here. I feel his chord changes in all my secret places. I don't know why his music does that to me, but it obviously affects other people in the same exact way. That's the sign of a true artist, better yet, a musical genius. ^_^

  • @SomethingReal1119 Both fantastic comments! I too see a link to fond memories and relationships of the past in Pat's music. There exists the potential for a marvelous future. Not just for individuals, but for the rest of human kind as well. His music gives me hope :)

  • First Metheny song I ever heard - First Metheny album I ever owned. I was hooked. So many, many years ago, when it was first released. Such poignant, powerful music.

  • Thanks for posting! Great song. PIctures are perfect.

I was shown Fandango after successfully completing my skydiving training! The end puts (with the music) puts a point on things.

    Thanks again!

  • Best driving music ever

  • Hey! About a Fandangooooooooo!!!!

  • @nadoanacleto I find it interesting that so many people have such a warm attachment to this tune because of that movie. I never saw it myself, but from what I gather from others, it must've have been one of those films that grabs your soul on a deeply personal level. I love movies like that; I guess it's time to watch Fandango, huh? ^_~

  • A truly enchanting tune..still mesmerisingly beautiful after 32 yrs.

  • i think its what u get before u loose your grip graspa bissly

  • WWOR-TV uses ths song for their community calendar and has for years.

  • @eaw3c1 And The Weather Channel used to use it during their local on the 8's in my area too. :0) Btw, do you mean WOR New York?

  • @SomethingReal1119 Yes, they used it during the 80s. You can find the commuity calendar video on here somewhere. I remember it when I was a child.

  • @eaw3c1 Wow, if you can send that vid to me, I'd so appreciate it. I'd like to add something like that to my playlist called "manhattan memories" ~~~ I have all kinds of clips of tv station bumpers and local access programs from the tristate area, circa 1980's. It's where I spent 3/4 of my life. ^_^

  • @SomethingReal1119 Just Search it on here as WWOR-TV Community Calendar

  • This song is going to be our wedding processional.

  • This is an hauntingly beautiful song; for some reason, it evokes random people and events from my past, with warmth that nostalgia is supposed to make you feel.

  • @bobnoxiousbr549 your comment rings true t/y for it

and ha just read your yt tag good one but doubt youre really an obby

i mean can a pmetheny fan even be? :-)

  • @bobnoxiousbr549 Yes, it brings up all sorts of emotions from the depths. Certainly so for me.

The whole album was written at a time when emotions ran quite high.

Bill Evans, who was a huge influence on Metheny & Lyle Mays, had recently passed away at a young age and the album was reflective & pensive

  • Hey...about a Fandango!!!

  • music from the wedding scene in "Fandango" (1983), with Kevin Costner and Judd Nelson.

  • @flibideegibbit 1984

  • This is the beauty of life musically phrased...more poetry than could ever be expressed in words.
