A terrific song from an era that does not exist any more. I consider this one their best song. It's a shame that FM stations do not play this one but that is why terrestrial radio is so lame.
Deep behind the scenes at the Hot Wax and Invictus labels was the Motown multi-million songwriting and production team Holland-Dozier-Holland. They were stifled by an anti-competition clause in their Motown contract that prevented them from using their actual names if they ever left the label! This might be one of their hits, but I can't be sure.
I remember this song very well. I recently learned that Joe Tex did a different song with this title a few years earlier (and in fact, I see a video of the Tex song in the Related Videos box right now). Without an artist name in the title, I wondered whether this one would turn out to be the Honey Cone or Joe Tex.
I like the background singers and the shoo-be-doo-be-doo-whop.

The Honey Cone are a sexy sister soul group.
Sister Edna Wright has a dynamic voice and this tells you our women have got it all.
The Honey Cone are full of soul sweetness.
