ACtually for a top speed run you dont go to redline cause you lose too much torque and power once you shift into the next gear and you end up having lag when you get back on the gas like he did in second gear. your supposed to shift at peak power which is about 1500-2000 rpms before redline. thank you for your time haha

@RAWWWR1717 They didnt make a 3g turbo. 1999 was the last year they used the 4g63 in the eclipse and also the last year they made a turbo model. in 2000 (3g) they used the 420a Inline 4 cylinder for the baseline models and the 6g72 V6 in the gt. both non turbo.

i have a 97 eagle talon tsi and i have a true 16g, walbro 255, hks 272's, 2.4l crank, rosss pistons, and im running 24 psi, recirc wastegate, and recirc bov, all tuned by dsm link. i had mine 160 and it was still pulling. didnt get up there THAT fast but it got there. im sure with the right tune that 170 is a possibility. look at shep!

Yes they do. My speedo tops at 170 and reds at 9. And mine is non turbo. Maybe youre thinking of another year of eclipses, but this is a 95-99. In fact, the first gen Avengers also had this inst. cluster.
You haven't been in many GS-T's or GSX's have you? The turbo eclipse's all had 170 mph speedometers. I have had 2 of them, a '96 GSX, and a '99 GS-T Spyder

Accualy its called a power curve, and it drops off before the redline, there for you shift before the rev limitier to get the best pull.

i have a 97 eagle talon tsi and i have a true 16g, walbro 255, hks 272's, 2.4l crank, rosss pistons, and im running 24 psi, recirc wastegate, and recirc bov, all tuned by dsm link. i had mine 160 and it was still pulling. didnt get up there THAT fast but it got there. im sure with the right tune that 170 is a possibility. look at shep!

also on the shifting he waits for the speedo, it kinda makes sense cuz he isnt shifting to early but he is defffffenitly killing his car.. if this was in 2002 im willing to bet that car has been through at least a whole new engine. its fast tho props

How do ricers know when to shift? They wait for the engine to bounce off the rev limiter. lol You bounced it on the rev limiter for a good 2.5 seconds.

He's actually acceleration SLOWER than if he were to shift at the correct points for each gear IE: meet the peak of the torque curve on up shift.

ok for all you out there saying learn how to shift, how do you know what he's supposed to shift at I mean you might have a gst or gsx but it doesn't mean you havae to shift the same, all my internals are tested around 9200 RPM but I have my Limiter set to 8 just to be safe, so who knows what he's got in it

if it is it has the gauges from a 3000GT cause all eclipses speedometers only go to 140 and they dont red line at 9

Yes they do. My speedo tops at 170 and reds at 9. And mine is non turbo. Maybe youre thinking of another year of eclipses, but this is a 95-99. In fact, the first gen Avengers also had this inst. cluster.

You haven't been in many GS-T's or GSX's have you? The turbo eclipse's all had 170 mph speedometers. I have had 2 of them, a '96 GSX, and a '99 GS-T Spyder
