I agree with Fedor's post fight interview he claims he was never in any trouble, and everything went according to plan. Watch Fedor vs Rogers 360: when Fedor's coaches watch Rogers knock out Arlovski they quip" he caught him on the 6th punch, and it's true he missed five punches before landing the combo that put AA to sleep.Refering to Roger's rush, they remark " it's kind of hard not to hit him". So Fedor tired him out for a round, waited for the rush and landed the KO when Rogers rushed him.

Sure, Fedor took Roger's down, but did he do anything when he did? pressing someone against the cage is using better cage control

In basic terms, the idea is that repetition of an action leads to less overall thought to accomplish such task. Watch 6:111 at half speed. You can clearly see that when Rogers lands a flush left shot, Fedor's hands and arms widen and he is just trying to grab onto Rogers. You can see the same reaction from Fedor at Pride 26 when Kazuyuki Fujita landed that powerful right hook, the only difference between the two is that in the Rogers fight, Fedor was on his back. Fedor reacted completely different to the punches before that left. Before, he was trying to trap rogers hands between Fedors arms and his chest

The Fujita fight just happens to be the one fight I believe Fedor was ever truly in trouble. He was actually dazed and stumbled. So its only logical he widened his arms, as Rogers punched, to try and trap one of his punches.
