  • Sounds like Morgan Freeman xD

  • Thank you sir very much.

  • This is what the writer did in the movie THE TOURIST with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp

  • this guy is a genius....just look at all his jewelry

  • I really like your manner. I am an auditory learner and your explanations to me, are really great. You also convey a lot more with your voice. There is comfort and support and kindness in the sound of your voice. It's like one teacher can explain that a tool exists but another can explain the tool exists and also can give you the confidence to use the tool. You are the later kind of teacher. I think you are a great teacher.

  • Great tips. Hey, for everyone out there that likes to make movies, I want to be a film composer, so if you guys need a composer, contact me and I'll help you guys out on the music part of your film. Some of my music is on my weebly site, which I have the link on my youtube channel. Check it out. Thanks.

  • hmm...what kind of music?

  • All different kinds. My specially is horror and action. I make all kinds tho from upbeat to sad to horror. Film music I like to write.

  • i'm working on a short film series i made myself. everything is good but my music is crap. i was hoping i would find someone like you. can you do drama music?

  • @StupidVids2009 Yes, I can write drama. I would be happy to work on it.

  • @composer321 thanks! now we both can gain experience in moviemaking and composing, which is exactly what i need!

  • @composer321 I might just do that :)

  • its really strange because we have been learning how to write stories in english... and almost everything is the same as in writing films.

  • A three act screenplay should have at least four major turning points not one or two.

    1) Inciting Incident

    2) Act 1 climax

    3)Act 2 Climax

    4)Story Climax/Act 3 climax

Also a story requires drama which isn't necessarily conflict. Conflict suggest a negative turn, however a positive turn can be just as emotional charging for the audience. Thus a story needs drama, not just conflict.

  • Please, name ONE film, play or any kind of prose that doesn't have a conflict. I'm not sure you have a clear understanding of what conflict means. The inciting incident is what presents the conflict to the audience. From there, the characters and the conflict are developed throughout the rising action of the story and the conflict is overcome (or in some cases, not overcome) at the climax. A positive turn isn't emotionally charging unless it follows a negative(i.e overcoming a conflict)

  • Drama encompasses both negative and positive forces. Conflict is a struggle that can produce negative drama but ONLY if the characters are real. Amature filmmakers get caught up with the word conflict because they don't understand the reasoning behind it. Professionals know it is drama not conflict that makes a great story. You put drama in your movie than you got a fucking good story. Aliens vs preditors was full of conflict but sucked in the way of drama. It was a terrible movie.

  • Ok, you just gave an example of a story that lacks good drama. You have yet to name one that doesn't have conflict. Conflict isn't what makes a story great, it is simply a necessary component of the structure of a story. Without it, there is nothing for the characters to do. The audience doesn't want to just watch some guy who has no motivation to do anything worth watching. So again, please name ONE film, play, or any kind of prose that doesn't have a conflict.

  • First off I never said that there was a movie that didn't have conflict. My exact words were that a story needs drama NOT JUST conflict. Another words as you already pointed out a story needs more than just conflict. BTW we enjoy conlict in a movie because of the drama it produces. If there was no drama the movie would be boring. Conlict is too myopic. As I said before if you were reading, drama encompasses positive AND negative charges. Negative charges are associated with conflict. Got it now?

  • Another thing, if you followed this mans advise and put conflict after every three pages your movie would get tedious and the audience would burn out before the second act even began. Great screenwriters can weave a story through highs and lows. Excuting positive charges set up up the negative charges. Think of a rollar coster. The reason for the this notion is that the audience needs a breather so they can be taken to greater emotional depths. The objective of a plot is to wow the audience.

  • BTW you said a positive turn isn't emotionally charging? Are you out of your freeking mind? In the notebook when old Noah was sitting with old Allie and she finally remembered who he was, after two hours of him reading her the notebook. That wasn't the most emotionally charging scene in the movie. You got to be crazy. There is much for you to learn about screenwriting.

  • Thank you so much. I'm actually developing a story right now.

  • been sitting on a couple of very strong ideas for years... You've inspired me to get movin with 'em...!!

    THANKS!!

  • this is wonderful! thank you!
