The presenter's name is Ola Rosling. Does his name or his accent sound familiar? Well his father is Hans Rosling, whom he co-founded the Gapminder Foundation and Trendalyzer software with. His father is well known for his TED presentations using this software. Google payed the Rosling's for their software and is continuing to develop it with them.
This program looks just like that one program that was on TED several years ago. I forgot the guys name but the visualization and mechanics are identical. Did that guy open source his code?
People who say how evil Google are for not protecting privacy sufficiently may have a point. And people who say that they aren't putting out these tools to be charitable also have a point. But man, placing such powerful visualisation tools in the hands of anyone with a web browser who wishes to use them is a Good Thing. I can't wait to get my hands on this. Using things like the US Census database with it is going to be so instructive, and a lot of fun.
@1RadicalOne have a look at a website called gapminder they have a number of videos about the different relationships between wealth, healthcare, water quality etc.. and if I remember correctly you can make your own graphs.
