A lot of people are saying that the seacond season is going to start on this year, 2009. Though I am a little sceptical as to the creators making another episode. Lol, it truly is difficult to understand the minds of the creators of one of the best anime series EVER.

I don't know if other people posted this already, so please don't bite my head off for posting this - I think the reason why you've had a hard time with finding things about the 2nd Season of Haruhi Suzumiya, because I think it's no longer being known as the Melancholy. I'm not completely sure, but the light novels had several names. Also the reason why you had the episode chronology messed up because Haruhi has one order for time and another order in which the anime was release.

It does have to do with time travel, and not just by the group's time traveler. I used to have a link to an english novelization of the entire manga series, but then I had to reformat my hard drive. So if you're really curious, it's out there, wasn't so hard to find.

Oh and I forgot to mention, if you've seen season 1 already, start reading with "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody" in Volume 3 and then read from Volume 4 onwards.

It's not based on a manga it's based on a light novel series and they're all pretty readily available online (in English).

And your theory is quite interesting... that's all I'll say.

The Suzumiya Haruhi novel chapters, manga chapters and anime episodes were all released in anachronological order. The entire first season was one story, released in a random order. Also, the Season 2 was announced on the Suzumiya Haruhi website on the date that Haruhi officially goes missing in the novel.
