I guess EA didn't know how to change the beams "Magenta" like the Shadows. They can't be Drakh Neutron beams, Drakh beams have cool pulses running down them. I guess Shadow death Rays turns blue when fired on a low setting XD. Awesome battle..

Interesting discussion. Here is my take. The Earth Alliance found a shadow ship and did their best to adapt it to their ship. However, these ships are brand new and untested in battle. Who knows how good a job EA did on adapting it.
The white stars were built with both Minbari and Vorlon assistance. These races developed this technology and knew it well. The pilots of the Whitestars had plenty of training and experience. To me, that is why the WS freet won so easily.
The braking tactic and counter attack by the white stars would work but how could the white stars do so much damage to the Omega X? With that much fighter cover would not they be able to put up a better fight?
Hello!The crew are not trained enough for the new toys.And the new beam weapons too are drainging too much power.But i must say if the black omegas have batter reactor system or and animatter reactor....they beaating the shit out from the minbaris and others....And the original plans for the warlock are superior to what was developed later.
But minbari racisms prvent the ea to use shadow techs....but of course they can use vorlon toys...just we cant use shadow tech.

The fighters still cant match the breaking and point turn of the White Stars. I even doubt their targeting computers can lock on their that fast notice how the fighters tried to lead their fire with the white stars.Good thing about the Starfury Thunderbolt or Cobra is the stream pulse cannon that allows for such a meneuver.
I see that explains the poor performance of the fighters. As these where not upgraded fighters? The Thunderbolts and Cobras seem much more advanced. A regular Starfury is unable to match a white star, part of the reason Earth almost lost the Mimbari war.
I always found it utterly ridiculous for so few white stars to be destroyed against 20 Omega Xs when one regular Omega was able to completely disable one white star when attacked by several at Proxima III.

And probably still isn't target able by EA targeting systems. The Omega X is supposed to have it's own stealth device. But I don't know how effective it would be against the minbari.
You just made all of that up. Your first sentence is your opinion while the rest is just made up. Stealth drive, where'd you hear that rubbish? The only information on the Advanced Omega Destroyer (the name Omega X is a term given to it by fans not JMS) is from the episode "Between The Darkness And The Light".
B5 Tech manual.- "Systems slatted for testing on the Omega-X were the new Fusion beam cannons and stealth technology, inspired by Minbari design and based loosely on discoveries made during the Ganymede dig." Obviously they found something out. :O
And the bio-armor isn't hard to see. You can see it right there in the vid. Attacks that normally shred EA armor, are far less effective on this armor. It's very appearance suggests shadow technology.

One on one I would have to say that the Advanced Destroyers would not win out in a fight with a Sharlin. Even with the Shadow Armor and advanced weapons there was still too much disparity between the two ships. As O'Neil from Stargate would say it's all about the big honking space guns and the Minbari had the advantage there.
She didn't die at first, but she was going to had Marcus not saved her with the Energy Transfer Device Dr. Franklin discovered in S2 I believe. However Marcus died in the process of saving her. It's why we don't see him in Season 5.

Susan Ivanova, a woman with class and a great first officer, love what she said to the captain of the advanced Earth Destroyers,,,lol, she told him off really awesome. Not really. If you compare the weapons emplacements on the regular Omegas and the Omega Xs you'll see that they are pretty much the same. Susan knows how to exploit the blind spots that the weapons don't cover.
no okay i worded it wrong. where they place the weapons is the same on a standard Omega. the X's weapons are much stronger but the ships still have major blind spots.
Advanced Omegas had much better armor (Shadow obviously) and similar weapons to the Minbari. So far more powerful than a regular Omega. 1 Advanced=roughly 2-3 Omegas..
Having said that, I always had some problems with the idea that Earth was able to implement such valuable and advanced Shadow technology in their own forces so quickly. The differences are tenthousands of years at least and they can equip a fleet of warships in no time? I do love the modified shadowbeams though.

The Omega X destroyers were impressive warships and they were only prototypes.
They managed to take a heavy toll on the White Stars and injured Ivanova to the point where Marcus had to sacrifice himself in order to save her later on.
This sort of battle between two evenly matched foes was cool to see.
It's strange though that the Captain of the Omega X's demanded that they surrender instead of just trying to destroy the White Stars.
In any case, I wish that more Omega X's could be built.
This Omega X was only prototypes. Without the Earth Civil war, it would gave no warlock class Destroier, because the Omega X would´t need a jumpgate and can come and go like a Shadow Battlecrab.
My disappointment with this was it was basically one for one in losses on both sides. I think it would have been more dramatic if the Whitestar fleet suffered much more but was necessary to take out the only prototypes. Plus, it would have been nice to see Shadow armor on the new Warlock class, as it was originally intended. According to guides on the net, all Shadow tech was lost during the civil war. Earth v. Minbar would be like Shadows & Vorlons all over. :)
Earth vs Minbar??? The Minbar ships toor the Earth ships apart. The Shadows and the Vorlons where an equal match with each other. The two are not the same trust me.
The Shadows were a lot older than the Vorlons. The Vorlons never caught up to them in terms of power. They needed the help of the other First Ones to defeat the Shadows in the last Great War. In that sense, you could compare them to Earth vs. Minbari. The minbari are the older, more advanced race.
In terms of ideology, the minbari were heavily influenced by the vorlons, where Clarks regime was influenced by the shadows.
But in the end, humans and minbari will become one due to soul transfer.
Only one-on-one engagement we seen in B5, a Vorlon ship (not even their warship/Star Dreadnaught, which actually deflected battlecrabs beam weapon with its shields) owned a Shadow battlecrab with '1 hit', this video is on youtube. Their technology is similar: Vorlon have a better weapon, Shadow having better hyperspace tech, their armor capabilities similar. But the Shadows were far more numerous. If the Shadow were superior, they would have engaged the Vorlons and exterminated them with ease.

Best/most powerful mothership, along with Vorlon motherhips is Alliance's Victory class destroyers (Excalibur and the Victory), then close behind is the Shadow mothership. Everything else is far behind.
The EA's Warlock class destroyers, with their firepower and supreme defense (bioarmor) are a threat to any races capitals. After all, the main particle beams deployed are more recent versions of those placed onto the G.O.D Sattelites in the Earth Defense grid.
Getting hit by those means instadeath. (not to mention these ships are stacked with other weaponary too).
...The Omega X were created by the Psi Corp in secret by order of President Clarke. I do not know if the people commanding them are Psi Corp, but they were definitely built by them
The Psi corps, while influential, never had the ressources to refit actualy warships. Of course the psicorps played a large part in the reverse engineering and developemnt of the shadow technology, it still was earthforce who provided the ressources. That makes it a joint venture between psi corp and earthforce.
And of course it was kept a secret, imagine the uproar if word got our earth was tampering with live shadow tech.
And of course they were commanded by earth force personell, bester himself said once: telepaths don't go to the frontlines, the whole getting killed thing kinda ticks them off. Not to mention the Destroyer groups commander had a proper rank...
Ivanova had recently got the intell that Clark was experimenting with Shadow Tech and that Shadow ships where controled by a Human Psi. Hitting close to home as her mother is a Psi who took Psi suppressive meds leading to suiside. It ment that Clark might be Experementing with Psi like her mother.

The use of these Techs seems strange.
The Vorlons used brute power with their ships while the Shadows used speed and agility with their vessels.
Now the roles are reversed with the Omega X's with Shadow Tech using brute force while the Whitestars with Vorlon tech use speed and agility.

Advanced Omegas had much better armor (Shadow obviously) and similar weapons to the Minbari. So far more powerful than a regular Omega. 1 Advanced=roughly 2-3 Omegas..

This was definitely an awesome battle!
Having said that, I always had some problems with the idea that Earth was able to implement such valuable and advanced Shadow technology in their own forces so quickly. The differences are tenthousands of years at least and they can equip a fleet of warships in no time? I do love the modified shadowbeams though.
Also, wasn't this government against any kind of alien influence? They surely have no trouble accepting alien tech in this case.

the implementation was aided by drakh. it use the same organic armor found on psi corp hybrid ship.
but the weird thing is drakh didn't use the armor on their ship as seen in a call to arms movie. maybe incompatibilities of the ship unable to process kernel code of the organic armor to the ship hull. LOL

Love this battle, it's just a shame that the series never brought back the idea of humans using shadow teck like this.
If they did then at the end of the series humans could have become like the shadows while the Minbari could have become like the vorlons.

The Omega X destroyers were impressive warships and they were only prototypes.
They managed to take a heavy toll on the White Stars and injured Ivanova to the point where Marcus had to sacrifice himself in order to save her later on.
This sort of battle between two evenly matched foes was cool to see.
It's strange though that the Captain of the Omega X's demanded that they surrender instead of just trying to destroy the White Stars.
In any case, I wish that more Omega X's could be built.

This Omega X was only prototypes. Without the Earth Civil war, it would gave no warlock class Destroier, because the Omega X would´t need a jumpgate and can come and go like a Shadow Battlecrab.

Destroyer type ships usually don't need hyperspace jumpgates. They can create their own jump points but use the jumpgates for convenience.
Perhaps Earth could have adopted the cloaking systems of the shadows without the war.

My disappointment with this was it was basically one for one in losses on both sides. I think it would have been more dramatic if the Whitestar fleet suffered much more but was necessary to take out the only prototypes. Plus, it would have been nice to see Shadow armor on the new Warlock class, as it was originally intended. According to guides on the net, all Shadow tech was lost during the civil war. Earth v. Minbar would be like Shadows & Vorlons all over. :)

Earth vs Minbar??? The Minbar ships toor the Earth ships apart. The Shadows and the Vorlons where an equal match with each other. The two are not the same trust me.

The Shadows were a lot older than the Vorlons. The Vorlons never caught up to them in terms of power. They needed the help of the other First Ones to defeat the Shadows in the last Great War. In that sense, you could compare them to Earth vs. Minbari. The minbari are the older, more advanced race.
In terms of ideology, the minbari were heavily influenced by the vorlons, where Clarks regime was influenced by the shadows.
But in the end, humans and minbari will become one due to soul transfer.

Only one-on-one engagement we seen in B5, a Vorlon ship (not even their warship/Star Dreadnaught, which actually deflected battlecrabs beam weapon with its shields) owned a Shadow battlecrab with '1 hit', this video is on youtube. Their technology is similar: Vorlon have a better weapon, Shadow having better hyperspace tech, their armor capabilities similar. But the Shadows were far more numerous. If the Shadow were superior, they would have engaged the Vorlons and exterminated them with ease.

their conflict could not be solved by exterminating the other. They had the technology to destroy the others home planet for centuries, but they never used it. Their 'terms of engagement' were to never attack the other directly, only influence or attack the younger species.

Yes, but the only time they were shown to have direct combat, the Vorlons won. Shadows have greater numbers, the Vorlons had slightly better ships in terms of combat abilities.

Indeed. The Vorlons were technologically superior, I believe they had been the "older brother" between the two.
They've also trancended onto energy form, while shadows stuck to matter.
The shadows, however, had the tactical advantage due to numbers.
Their war, though, really was one of doctrine - order versus chaos, which births the better evolution/progress path.
They couldn't decide, so they just went separate ways, educating the younger species in their doctrine, until they circle full.

incorrect... the shadows are much older than the vorlons. It is never fully explained wether the shadows made it to pure energy or not... ( the spider form may just be an encounter suite) ... Their technology is fairly comparable though. The ships you see in the show are shadow ships piloted by young races... they are much less powerful than the shadow ships used 10,000 years prior in the war of the ancients...

And, something which I just can't get out of my head, is how exactly Lando managed to have two laser gatlings kill those two shadows.
I don't recall Vorlons being that easy to destroy. Especially if it's an encounter suit.

they are older b/c it was stated in the book... war of the ancients. JMS also stated that they were not killed when lando had them shot... he said they fled when being shot. although it did appear to me that they were injured. You cant judge the age of a race by its durabiltity.

Well, when they got shot you could see what appears to be blood in the dark-violet/purple colour unique to shadows being spilled out.
And why would they retreat, or even suffer injury at all from it...IDK, it's one of those things that'll never make sense.
Probably a producer decision of the moment/writers not knowing how to allow Morden to be captured properly by disabling his shadow company.

The shadow death cloud was a far more interesting concept that the vorlon planet killer.
And the shadows are energy beings too, just their encounter suits are insect like.... its all in the B5 novels.

Best/most powerful mothership, along with Vorlon motherhips is Alliance's Victory class destroyers (Excalibur and the Victory), then close behind is the Shadow mothership. Everything else is far behind.

Actualy, thats only half true.
The EA's Warlock class destroyers, with their firepower and supreme defense (bioarmor) are a threat to any races capitals. After all, the main particle beams deployed are more recent versions of those placed onto the G.O.D Sattelites in the Earth Defense grid.
Getting hit by those means instadeath. (not to mention these ships are stacked with other weaponary too).

The Psi corps, while influential, never had the ressources to refit actualy warships. Of course the psicorps played a large part in the reverse engineering and developemnt of the shadow technology, it still was earthforce who provided the ressources. That makes it a joint venture between psi corp and earthforce.

Ivanova had recently got the intell that Clark was experimenting with Shadow Tech and that Shadow ships where controled by a Human Psi. Hitting close to home as her mother is a Psi who took Psi suppressive meds leading to suiside. It ment that Clark might be Experementing with Psi like her mother.
