  • I really I am sorry man.I used to fish at a pond that is now a superwalmart. The road down the street where I used to walk my dogs became a subdivision forever changed. No more squirrels, foxes, deer,or armadillos, just more generic houses when there are lots houses for sale in the papers.

  • hey i live around there and my family had no money entill range came range save my family and if it wernt for range my family would be living on the streets

  • Is this how we are suppose to expect to live as Americans today ? Our rights removed by corporate greed, lieing politicians who have their hands in the drillers pockets/lobbyists. We loose over the drilling companies?????

  • I'm sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing

  • One more thought. Never allow contaminated materials to be stored above a pond ! This gentleman not only allowed the location of the contaminants, but he also let them "seal" the pit with flimsy plastic liners that are notorious for leaks. The least that should have happened would be to use a thick layer of clay to more permanently seal the site.

  • A couple thoughts..... if all the weeds were suddenly killed in this pond, there should have been a fish die-off soon after because decomposing vegetation usually knocks down the oxygen levels in the water. It's very odd the landowner did not experience a massive fish die-off.

If you are going to invite an industrial drilling company on to your farm, the intelligent thing to do is do your due diligence! There is no excuse for being naive!

  • for all you idiots responding negatively to this video let me inform you. Halliburton doesnt drill wells. Learn what companies do, before talking crap about them. Every product you jokers use in your daily lives, in someway uses petroleum products. Whether it fuels them, or oil is used to produce them, so quit talking crap about the petroleum industry. RETARDS

  • @boobtrie

You are right, Haliburton doesn't drill the wells, but they do Frack them, which is the topic in this video. And yes, we do use petroleum products, but generally, we don't dump them into aquifers, ponds, streams, or drink them. Again, that is the topic here. The topic isn't that Natural Gas or Oil is produced, it is the fact that lies, corner cutting, and greed is leading to irresponsible extraction of theses substances that has substantial effects on our lives...... RETARD!!!!!

  • this guy doesnt have to worry about everything anymore. he sold his farm to a gas drilling company and has 1.8 million dollars in escrow which he wont touch. you showed them! lol

  • still blaming President Bush? un-frickin'-believable!

  • @rollingstone720

Well, generally, when a president passes a law excluding an industry from being held responsible by the clean water act, then that industry goes and blatantly poisons water and pollutes the hell out of the land with toxic chemicals with no reperecussions against them, then yes, you do generally hold the person responsible who made this possible, which was BUSH. Oh my!!! What a revelation!! Can you see it, or are you still stuck on the difference between circles and squares?

  • @rabidpensfan When you stop using using plastic, when you stop using electricity, and you stop driving, or using gas powered transportation...you can come preach.

  • @bentonhunter

Yeah, you have me there. I guess since I use gas, electricity, and plastic, I don't have a right to ask the companies that are extracting the raw materials that make this possible to do so safely, and responsibly. I don't have the right to ask them not to taint drinking water and soil for God knows how long since I use the products/services they provide. Nah, why would I have the right to demand that they not cut corners and compromise our quality of life to bloat their profits.

  • wow is that place ugly. the northeast's biggest asset is its supply of water and now they want to poison it. we need to have normal, healthy l relations with countries like iran who have plenty of gas and oil

  • next time send an interviewer who cares about the issue and doesn't keep saying "yeah"

if we had normal healthy relations with the middle eastern nations there wouldn't be a need for fracking. yeah bush became the "energy president" who is able to poison water while not even being in office.

    make fracking illegal

  • And how many hundred thousand dollars did you get for your lease... and how many hundred thousands more will you be getting from the gas royalties ? Just wondering. Most people around here are getting 10x what they PAID FOR the land, so stop whining. Typical lease $2000-2500/acre, and these are farms that were purchased as vacant hunting land in the '70s for around $200/acre. You're going to be disrupted for a year or two ... stuff will grow back, it's really not a big deal.

  • @moucon How can anything grow back when the water is bad and so is the ground?? The drilling of the well is just the start it only gets worse. Not better

  • @moucon you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. this water is polluted FOREVER. this ground is toxic FOREVER. NOTHING WILL GROW HERE. THIS LAND WILL REMAIN AS IT IS FOR AN ETERNITY. pretty bloody ugly result for a few dollars

  • @moucon you have to be a Cheney / haliburtin fan, or a dumbass who will not believe this is happening until all is poisoned. and nothing comes back. Lets all make a buck, screw up our land and have NO CHOICE but to depend on oil from the middle east. If you believe this "no damage crap" you must also think the check is in the mail, etc........oh ya my water does not burn out of tap, go to one of these places a drink the water, thought you would back peddle, put up or shut up...

  • Hmm... Lies and deception! Looks like there not just doing it to Indian people anymore.Polluting the air, land , and now they're going for the ground water. Whats going to happen when we have F**ked our planet so much that the realization is to late. Energy sources and the cost of our health and environment are just plain stupid!

  • in a year after completion, the roads will be gone and grass growing you will never know were there.. goddamn dont lease your land then

  • @jonnyrebel01 there is a LOT MORE to it than you think, this water and land is TOXIC FOREVER! NOTHING will ever grow back here.

  • @hellozio how about looking up the definition of toxicity and actually be educated about the subject before talking to me

  • @jonnyrebel01

    tox·ic·i·ty

    –noun, plural -ties.

the quality, relative degree, or specific degree of being toxic or poisonous: to determine the toxicity of arsenic.

why does this word not fit in the description of a fracked well, underground aquifer ??

  • Hey I'm gonna lease my property to a drilling company, they are going to drill damn near two miles down and a mile horizontaly and use 10's of thousands of gallons of water to pump into the well to frack it, build a couple tanks and well heads, I'm sure none of these trucks or anything (while in process of drilling and completetion of the well) will tear up the path were they have to drive to get to the location.. you know what you were getting into you dumb fuck

  • It sounds alot like what happened in Woburn MA in the 70s 80s and 90s In woburn it was due to WR Grace Co Poluting the water which was causing cancer to the people Mostly in the east side of town. There is a Movie about it called (A Civil Action) Starring John Travolta look into it.

  • We must stand together and stop this enviromental disaster to our water quality and our state!

  • this aint no golf place he wanted the money now hes got it but just not what he figured see

  • If the fact that this is hurting the locals doesnt bother you, Then think about this, these water sources and fields are the food sources for the stuff in your refrigerators, all that good PA milk in your hershey bar and peanut butter cups, Pa provides a lot of potatoes chips, milk eggs, poultry, ham and beef!

  • Thanksgiving night I learned that the neighbors(4 Families) next to one of these well sare now without water..Dry..now if they can breakdown the rock to extract gases by using cancerous chemicals...and it cracks enough rock underground to drain the neighbors wells...well lets think about this... And nobody knows who should pay for these damages....I am thinking there are still more damages to come

  • I have a friend that's well was filled with toxic crap in Pennsyvania.

I live there and don't want to wait until we need Erin Brockovich to save me!

Where is the Green Peace when you need them?

Please help us here in Pennsylvania!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @saljesraf Greenpeace is to busy in some far away place protecting a turtle to care about human beings the same way the aclu doesnt care about discrimination against whites it doesnt bring headlines so they dont care.

  • He was lied to-I don't think it was greed. Like many people, especially people who live in an area of good, trustworthy people, he didn't question and when he did the answers he got were lies. The man is a victim, and should be listened to.

  • water is more important than gas crap.you can live without gas but destroy our water and where fucked

  • gas drillers are all idiots

  • well what can u do, natural gas is better than burning oil. its hard to get to without doing land damage.

  • ALL YOU IDIOTS NEED TO UNDERSTAND THIS MAN WAS A VICTIM. WALK A MILE IN HIS SHOES BEFORE YOU JUDGE.

  • why did you lease your land to the oil co if you dont want them there . thats stupid

  • This man has created his own HELL because of his own GREED. Sounds like he had a little piece of paradise. Unfortunately for him and future generations he was not satisfied. He must have needed the money to buy more, more, more... Thanks for posting the video, hopefully others will learn from your mistake.

  • It's truly sickening how this is allowed to happen over and over again. And what is especially egregious is when a gas operator comes in and drills 200 feet from a family residence and two years later the kids have leukemia from the Benzine. Even the gas workers are lied to and have to suffer the effects of long-term exposure.

  • omg, how awful. people making noise! And dead cattails!

Another rich guy whining and complaining. Owns 140 acres but can't afford to get his water tested independently. This guy just likes to complain.

  • Its more than the dollar they're after. They are working on total global domination. Your objective should be to reclaim your two vital powers and get OFF the dollar. The vital powers they took from you is the POWER OF THE PURSE and the POWER OF THE SWORD. Reclaim these powers PEACEFULLY and CONSTITUTIONALLY and you WILL HAVE YOUR FREEDOMS back and the corruption will stop. There is a plan to do this. Committees of Safety dot org. Go there Go NOW!

  • The problem is that US officials surrendered your individual sovereignty ILLEGALLY and UNCONSTITUTIONALLY via BRETTON WOODS TREATY AGREEMENTS. Read the Treaty, especially ARTICLE 7. They say Bretton Woods is a failed system. They're lying! If that were so, why are the organizations it birthed in full force such as WTO, IMF, World Bank?

Want to take back your country? Committees of Safety dot org. Volunteer. Go there, Go NOW!

  • 141 acres...$3000 an acre. You wasted $423,000 and no you are bitter because you have no money left. Should've budgeted better moron

  • DEP can not protect you they will be fired for enforcing environmental laws.

  • lol wow what small wells, i couldn't even imagine anyone getting any royalties from those, let alone the oil company making any money

  • Maybe you should ask the farmer how much he was paid for the rights to drill on his land? Can't have your cake and eat it too......They first showed two pits and all of the contaminated water goes into there and is properly removed....The reason he lost vegetation around his pond is because they sucked looks like 2 feet out of it....dumbasses

  • whine whine whine. Sounds like money and jobs. Don't want to live there sell the land and move out.

  • damav shut up you idiot!

  • All my sympathies.

  • I think this case is more complex then the fellow in the video is suggesting. Clearly he was opposed to the drilling before it even took place and has been seeking any way but loose to stop it.

BUT, the pond IS on his property and assuming photographic evidence of the prior condition could be gained he may well have a case with the EPA. As I understand it the drilling company is required to restore the land after drilling is done (which isn't yet) but the pond is something they would address.

  • a pH level of 8 is not acidic. The pH of pure water is 7 and the lower the number, the more acidic it is. the pH level of 4 is equivalant of acid rain

  • We need to work towards finding other ways of getting these resources we need that don't ruin the land and people's homes....AND hold these enormously powerful companies responsible. Using high-tech lingo and lengthy contracts are ways to exploit these landowners as well. Its like David vs Goliath. We need more people on David's side!

  • Absolutely we can explore space but in 2010 we don't the technology to do this cleanly? Come on!!!

  • This is what is happening in Wayne County, PA as well. Folks warned about what has happened in other places where they drilled & still greed kicked in. Now there's reports of oil drilling damage & water pollution. To top it off, the oil the companies take are sold OVERSEAS, so it doesn't help the USA at all! Fossil fuels are not the way to go for the future. These farms could do solar or wind power and do less damage to the environment.

  • This is horrible!!! Every time I come home from school I see more and more wells going up and land being destroyed. Some companies are O.K. but most are destroying Hickory. This is the place I grew up and love. They are taking advantage of the kind people of Hickory.

  • We leased our land but really it may be the only protection you have. DEP does water samples before and after in PA at least that is what I understand. A gas well will be going on our neighbors land, we have a 3 acre pond as well. How do you suggest protecting yourself having had your experience.

  • It doesn't sound like he wants royalties, but a peaceful place to live. Gas companies are crooked point blank! Most farmers care about their land more than money. I will never sign a lease, but I will definitely grab a shovel and hit any one of the people from a gas company over the head with it :D

  • You must not be getting royalyies!

  • Appalling!
