My favourite mortar tactic is to alternate smoke and HE rounds, since they load separately. Really keeps the enemy on their toes because they stop taking cover.

Firstly... this does not look fun...

Secondly... this is bullshit there is no way in hell a mortar could ever be that accurate.

and lastly, this is just dumb cos they can just set up their mortar in the zone that the enemy cant get to because its at the maps boundaries and shit.

Alternatively, all it needs is for that crosshair on the map to be a circle and for the mortar to land anywhere in that circle.

Oh I just played a rush map where the attacking team had 3 mortar guys going constant.. they ended with roughly 30-40 kills / 0 deaths each.

Giving a mortar guy 10 mortars should suffice.. and if he has a dedicated support guy to resupply him, that would be fair.. but as it sits.. unlimited rounds is rediculous.

@Ujussab If he had to stop, pack his mortar, drop a crate, replenish from crate and then set up his mortar again it would give the people getting shelled a good 20-30 seconds to get out of cover and either move to a different area or converge on the mortar operator. That can make a hell of a difference. Especially on maps like Seine crossing where there are very specific choke points perfect for shelling.

They tried something with Battleships and Recon in 1942.

Recon could point out a location with their binoculars and ship gunners would be able to see now close they're getting. Kind of pointless against nearby targets, but amazingly useful on the large ocean maps.

Recon rarely did it. I doubt it would be any different in this game.
