Beat Farmers at Park Place in El cajon was the MOST fun gig ever. Kamanski opened the show while Dick and Mojo were trolling the bar. I wore the next day's hangover like a badge of pride.
I got to see the Beat Farmers a couple of time, just awesome shows. The strangest had to have been in Stockton CA where a crowd of less then 50 people wound up sitting on the floor of the club and had a sit down sing along with Country Dick. That man gave so much to his audience, even when it was just a handful of folks.
Joey was a good vocalist, good guitar player, and really helped invent a new Beat Farmers. I think it was because of him that they ended up really popular in the Country circles, because his voice wasn't really rock sounding.
I Have Seen The Beat Farmers At The Belly Up Tavern In 1990 When The Opened Up For The Smitherenes. And Have Seen The Farmers 3 Times This Year At Tio Leos In San Diego. renorobert Knows Notheing About Joey Harris or The Beat Farmers Or San Diego !
Way back when I lived in San Diego I played bass in a couple of bands that opened for Joey Harris & the Speedsters, Electric Sons (Joey and Paul Kamanski)and the Beat Farmers with Buddy and Joey. One thing I can say about Joey, beyond being a talented musician, singer/songwriter, is that he was always a good guy onstage and off, and very supportive to other bands.
Obviously some folks aren't real Beat Farmer fans because slamming Joey is just pure pig crap.
To ALL THE HATERS- The ONLY reason someone would post a vid here is so it might be shared with other FANS who ENJOY the band.. Jerry,Joey and Buddy are hands down 3 of the BIGGEST TALENTS that Dago has ever offered... Just for the record.. Joey Harris was asked to be a Farmer ONLY AFTER Buddy QUIT THE BAND... DONLAGUNA1 I wonder just how youd have filled the VOID?? Do you EVEN play an instrument??? After reading your post I now know the reason mothers kill their kids.
Crap about Joey ... I loved/love Joey Harris, and guess what? So did Buddy Blue! I saw the Farmers w/Joey lots of times, and Joey never gave less than 110%.
The Farmers were the best live band ever -- bar none -- Buddy OR Joey. THE best.
Joey Harris sucks! He could never fill the void...ever. I can't stand him. But I love what the Beat Farmers were and I'll gladly suffer through his claim jumping to get watch and listen to Country Dick...

Harris claimjumping?? Joey (and Paul Kamanski)were helping the creation of Country Dick in the Snuggle Bunnies long before Buddy was in the picture

I saw them at the Baccanal in San Diego in '88 (I think). Great live band...I bought a t-shirt, but it must have shrunk...

Why isn't the crowd throwing beers all over Country Dick Montana? Why wear the raincoat if the beers aren't going to fly? Sheesh.
I saw these guys play some horrible dive, deep in the post-industrial wreckage of Oakland, this same year, 1988.
They played late. I flunked a molecular biology exam the next morning, because I was still shit-faced drunk by the time class started.
Never felt better in my life! Ain't it great when things are going your way? Hey, hey!

I went to school with Rolle...he was fairly cool. His best buddy was Warren DeMartini of RATT.

Why so much hate for Joey Harris? I thought this was a pretty good tribute to the Velvets. Am I the only fan of dark light?

Funny audience, but you take note of how many get up and dance! The Beat Farmers always got the crowd going.
Thank you again and again for each of these.

Beat Farmers, Jason and the Scorchers, The Blasters, Rank and File. Country punk was so refreshing. We have not seen it's like since.

Where did they get the people in the audience? From the Love Boat?
I like the lyric change. "Four ugly children and a crotch that won't heal." Hilarious.:-{D=
