Thanx very much for posting this as it really captures the danger that always lurks in Formula One..Thank God Michael wasn't more seriously injured..! Peace. Rx
No doubt all the people crying about the british crowd cheering will be tifosi. Would just like to say well done to you all for BOOING Vettel and Button on the Monza podium this weekend. also, given you all scream your heads off everytime a McLaren driver crashes out of a race, I suggest you all STFU.
@russischbrot311 I understand your comment but if you had ever been to a Grand Prix you would understand the intelligence of the crowd..No-one but no-one attending a GP wants to see hugely talented drivers getting hurt in horrific accidents..that just isn't why people go to watch..A Grand Prix is the most unbelievable experience & one's respect for these guys in blatantly obvious..TV doesn't catch a tenth of the excitement and atmosphere so the only way to really 'get it' is to go to a GP! Rx
If you listen carefully they thought it was Irvine initially. Nothing anti-German. Also in modern F1 there is the belief that nobody generally gets seriously injured, so they were just happy a Ferrari went off. That soon changed when it was apparent Schuey was hurt.
Why the fuck do we have videos of Kovaleinen crashing in Spain, or Lewis crashing in Monza and Spain, and yet all the comments of sickening are directed at the British crowds, when schumi, who rammed hill off for a title hits a friggin tyre wall.
Do you fucktards actually think they were cheering cause they knew hed broke a leg.
Do you cheer at a football match when the opposing teams player is sent off?
Exactly, so stop crying at us British cause we rule F1.
@FRAFPDD A player being sent off a football pitch is nothing compared to a car crash. He could have been dead in that crash and yet people clap like this was meant to be the highlight of the race. I know that you British don't like the Germans and the Germans don't like you, but that is no reason to cheer when somebody crashes. Oh, and why do the British get accused here? ...BECAUSE ITS SILVERSTONE you dummy.
Also the Germans would not clap if a British driver would crash on a German track
@LSBonnPower Any car crash in F1 can be fatal, all it takes is debris to pierce the body or hit the head, go watch videos of the spanish fans cheering and the italian fans cheering when Hamilton has crashed there, and germans are no different, the only reason they might not cheer as loud is cause some are Hamilton fans themselves.
5.34 Yeah, not laughing anymore are they. Bet they felt real stupid at that moment. People who cheer someone crashing at 200mph need to take a long hard look in the mirror, no matter who it is. Absolutely sickening.

@schroeder1112 ow sorry, but yeah u r right Schumi was doing like any champ would do in that case making almost impossible to pass but Rubens pulled it off unfortunately by bitching about it he ruined it for him, he could've stayed cool about it and it would've been recognized one of the greatest moves. that kind of fighting on track used to happen a lot back in the days but nowadays drivers are too soft to handle it. However, rubens is a veteran he shouldn've reacted like that.
Was it ever officially detirmined as to what caused him to go straight on? Cold tyres? Cold brakes? Too late on the brakes? Mechanical failure of some kind? I remember Jean Todt saying something about a rear brake,.
Fantastic day ,the red baron crashes and DC wins ,i did not know how bad the accident was until the car passed us on the back of a trailer.and i bet the italian crowd at monza this year never cheered when lewis came together with massa.
@Shadowdp26 get a life.he did not die, also ferrari did not put their full efforts in after that, the did not want irvine to become world champion becaus schumac would have to have had the number 2 on his car and they were relieved MIka became champ that year.
@shakyle2906 me get a life? ur happy when a driver crashes and is sent to hospital? who cares if he didn't die? what difference does that make? does it only count as a crash to u if someone dies? maybe mika would've won anyway?

Quality, people were landed when schumacher crashed the cheating twat. Why shouldnt we cheer, he only broke his leg, ppl do that all the time. It was probably divine intervention
I'd like to know what your motives behind hating him so much are. He's a human being who did what he had to do to win... and when he didn't have the car, maybe he went a step to far because it's all he could do. He never hurt anyone, he never put anyone in real danger, he never aimed to cause anyone harm... he was cunning rather than devious, and incredibly talented. He had / has a passion for the sport which the current generation don't have, and F1 was a lot more exciting when he was around.

I agree, his will to win was second to none, which all champions have. But ask yourself, why did he only give one interview to the british press a year (itv at least)? F1 was boring when he was winning everything, he had a superior car and the field was dire. Now, he won't win, Hamilton has arguably the talent to eclipse schumacher, alonso beat him in a fair fight. I suppose you think adelaide 94 was a racing incident, what with his broken suspension and all.
That'll be 'Schumachers team being built around him', then claiming Hamilton has some superior talent? Definately nothing to do with being Ron Dennis' groomed and adopted son.
94 footage - Hill could have waited and taken him on a straight if he had a mind too - you know, rather than assuming Schumacher was gonna pull over for him. Whatever that had to do with anything. Regardless of that, your statement was paraphrased as "yay, Schumacher got hurt" so anything stemming from that is just wrong.
Get over your inferiority complex you sad twat, you are from the uk, support our lads, not the guy with zero charisma but happens to win all the time. Hoping for sime success in an otherwise fruitless life. C'mon Hamilton, thrash ze german all season long
... what? 'Our lads'... those true Brits who live abroad as their legal form of tax evasion? It has nothing to do with nationality... it's to do with the "i'm doing it for the fans" quotes and creepy dad lurking in the background.
As for charisma... Hamilton's got charisma if you're a big fan of kids TV, whereas 95% of the other drivers are real people who don't feel the need to patronise the fans.
Sad, sad individual, has to cling onto 'winners'. I'm glad you can take the moral high ground, what with schumacher living in switzerland and avoiding taxes. How is his dad creepy, you not got a dad or something? Patronise, i think you are confusing that with pride and emotion. The only charismatic thing about schumacher is his enormous chin.
I'm not German? If I German, and being patriotic I'd say the same about him - with the same arguement. As for the rest of what you've said... opinion based debate turns into typical internet bitch off. Count me out.
I think that nowadays the safety of F1 is such that we do kinda take for granted that F1 drivers are going to be alright no matter how serious the crash might look, even back in 1999 safety had improved massively since imola, so when a driver who we dislike goes off there is more often than not a initial reaction of "Whey" but that is quickly replaced with guilt.
I'm sure I and the people featuring in this video would most definitely regret it more so in this video. It does show how one's obsessive disliking for certain people or in this case race drivers get the better of you. Unfortunately people do not have the same compassion for others as they once did and instead we let our joy in others misfortune outshadow the reality of a serious event which through peoples naivity is being considered a mere race retirement.
They're both alive, I have no regrets. The Hamilton crash I am pleased to say was one of the best atmospheres I have experienced and I'm glad I took part in some Tifosi love towards Hamilton. Obviously as a Schumacher fan I was not cheering this video but I'd be a hypocrit if I were to hold a grudge with the people in this video.
Great Video footageI I only remember Schumacher having dramatic crashes. The cheering is something that happens, all be it not nice. I happily cheered Hamiltons crash at Monza this year.
@schuf1 I agree. I remember the people in the stands of the German GP the same year cheered when Mika Hakkinen's puncture sent him violently into the tyre barriers. Luckily he wasn't hurt, but that doesn't make it less sickening.
@schuf1 It is, but it's no different from when let's say Damon went off in Hockenheim or Nurburgring in 1995. The locals will always support their driver fanatically. Nobody expected it to be a serious injury from that crash either.
@schuf1 ah, come one, nobody knew he was injured at the time. The tifosi cheer everytime a non-ferrari driver crashes and they booed Vettel on the podium at Monza this weekend...
F1 cars have as much as 4x or more grip in fast turns like this one. When they looses it all of a sudden, this is what happens.
Michael's car had on of wheel mounting structures broke apart under maximum load while in the turn, they said. So car suddenly lost its grip for a fraction of the second since car vertical stability was ruined; that was enough to put car on the trajectory where no further full grip was possible, at given speed.
Shameful the crowd cheering, Mclaren are just cheating scumbags there car is red if you scratch the paintwork... they should have been banned, look were they are 2009 when they have to design there own car COME ON JENSON
im a mclaren fan and i was at that race, tbh i doubt the crowd realised the extent of the damage so you cant really say that, also, haha yeah the ferrari cheating this is a bit dodgey ill admit lol
like jthwaite says they just cheered cos someone went off, they didnt realise how bad it was. The fact that they all clapped the ambulance, and you can hear theyre shocked at the lack of a front end as the car went past so it's not like they were glad he got hurt lol
Oh well us mclaren fans aren't son of bitch. but there is a rivalry between us and ferrari :D so that why most people laugh there. Most people probably didn't think it was serious until those marshalls showed up anyway.
oh yes it is not so nice laughing at that...people laugh and cheer when someone crashes. I can show you some videos if you like. and don't believe that people can be so bad.
Wow good one. That makes total sense too because my mother delivered me through a penis you fucking prick. Grow up some you dipshit and save the childish remarks for your mates.
amazing video, its extremely rare. its sickening that people actually laughed when he crashed! i hope they rot!!! tho when people clapped the ambulence, that was nice.
Great video, captures the speed of the accident better than the TV angles. But the laughter you can hear from some of the crowd is shameful. I remember that was talked about at the time. Thanks for posting!

Yes there is cheering when schumi went off. Most of the British crowd do not support him, so of course there's cheering when he goes off. I cheered.
From a spectator's point of view though, the impact didn't appear to be that hard, so most people assumed he would be fine.
Note though that when people realise he hasn't jumped right out and walked away that people go silent.

@Teinyhr That s a good way to put it :-)
"Schumacher - he rarely crashed but when he did, he did it with passion."

"Cheats" are furthest to do with that...

Shameful the crowd cheering, Mclaren are just cheating scumbags there car is red if you scratch the paintwork... they should have been banned, look were they are 2009 when they have to design there own car COME ON JENSON

im a mclaren fan and i was at that race, tbh i doubt the crowd realised the extent of the damage so you cant really say that, also, haha yeah the ferrari cheating this is a bit dodgey ill admit lol
jthwaite3 2 years ago
like jthwaite says they just cheered cos someone went off, they didnt realise how bad it was. The fact that they all clapped the ambulance, and you can hear theyre shocked at the lack of a front end as the car went past so it's not like they were glad he got hurt lol

Only a son of a bitch can laugh when someone at quite 200 mph crash into a wall
boino87 2 years ago 3
Oh well us mclaren fans aren't son of bitch. but there is a rivalry between us and ferrari :D so that why most people laugh there. Most people probably didn't think it was serious until those marshalls showed up anyway.
jraybay 2 years ago
not McLaren fans, but those are sons of a bitch... but if you tell me that is normal.........
boino87 2 years ago
oh yes it is not so nice laughing at that...people laugh and cheer when someone crashes. I can show you some videos if you like. and don't believe that people can be so bad.
jraybay 2 years ago
Bad ways it is normal for many "fans" to be happy about a crash of a rival.
A crash isn't a reason to celebrate in my opinion. But sadly some people think so - doesn't matter what they belong to.
That can be Germans, Italiens, British etc.
So I hope nobody blame the whole fans of a team for such idiots

Great video, captures the speed of the accident better than the TV angles. But the laughter you can hear from some of the crowd is shameful. I remember that was talked about at the time. Thanks for posting!
