  • why r u wispering

  • A simpler (read correct) way to do this is to simply add

    GRUB_GFXMODE=1280x1024

    GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep

    to /etc/default/grub and run `sudo update-grub'. That's it.

  • @fusionfile does it work on every computer?

  • @fusionfile I did this but it doesn't work, seems like it damaged my hardware settings...

  • under gfxmode=${GRUB_GFXMODE} and gfxpayload=Keep it says insmod gfxterm for me it says load_video and insmod gfxterm is undere load_video but why u have insmod gfxterm and ater that isnmod s{GRUB VIDEO BACKEND}? please answer

  • REBOOTING IN 3,2,1 BO---

  • thanks 4 that how to it works very fine for me ;)

  • @Ruckzuck78 cheers! sleeky linuxing!

  • Hi yooyoomine,

    I've just installed ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop which is a old sony vaio fs315 with Intel graphics on it.

    I really like ubuntu but the screen resolution is pissing me off i cant increase it no bigger then 1200:800 (appx) also does not have the xorg.conf file at all.

    do you think i can do what you did on this vid will work on mine too?

  • @tosiuk when you say you can't increase screen resolution, what do u exactly mean, the resolution of the boot screen only or resolution in general? if u talk about resolution in general, have u installed the restricted drivers for your graphics card? If not, do so first.

    About the boot screen res. fix in this video: it works only for NVidia cards and only fixes the boot logo.

    Hope it helps, if not, u may provide me with additional info about your laptop so maybe i will be able to help

  • @yooyoomine Thanks for the prompt reply,

    So i have a Sony which has Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 on it. when i say screen reso i meant monitor resolution, so the highest resolution is have is 1280x800 and i cant increase it any more as i got to System--> Pref..--> Monitors.

  • @yooyoomine The highest resolution is 1280x800 but when i execute xrandx the following comes

    Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 800, maximum 4096 x 4096

    VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

    LVDS1 connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm 1280x800 60.0*+ etc.

    I look at the Ubuntu Software Center i have the Intel Driver 2.14 installed in it

    What more info do you need?

  • @tosiuk pardon, didn't see that! u say taht u dont have .xorg file. i remember that that when u don't have a suitable resolution in monitor properties then u have to manually define it in .xorg file. since u dont have it maybe it is worth to create one. And maybe this link can be useful when configuring? check your inbox for the links

  • @yooyoomine hey I downloaded a game recently, and it only shows half the screen! Can you please help me out?

  • @PresentAssassin i guess i have nvidia graphics...

    1)what u mean half the screen? u see full frame but can't change it to fullscreen mode or u see only a part of the game screen?

    2)what is the game?

  • @yooyoomine Like I need to change the screen resolution for the game...the game is Joint Task Force

  • Hey man, I have ati hd4300 on my inspiron 1564 (64 bit), running 10.04. My proprieteray drivers works perfect w/ the desktop plus my compiz works flawless, but my boot loader only shows res up to 1024x768, where my actual res is 1366x768. I've tried ur method but in my 00_header profile I don't have the "gfxmode=${GRUB_GFXMODE}" line any where, guess this only works for the nVidia cards. Any suggestion on ati cards... Thanks for the vid anyways....gd job..

  • @badboy350 yes it is for nvidia only, when i had ati, there was no problem, but that was couple of years ago and i had ubuntu8.04
