  • Divine.

  • If you like this, you'll probably like Stevie Wonder's "Rocket Love". She actually refers to it in the lyrics of the song:

    Love is such a novelty

    A rarely painted masterpiece

A place few people go or ever know

    An underwater rocket love

  • The whole song got me, especially the piano portion and chords, but oh, when Claire De Lune came in, I was almost in tears

  • This Song is like A Fluffy Pillow Taking me To Another Planet i love it

  • tu dut tut tu

    :)

  • This song takes me away and out into the musical galaxy of sounds.

  • :)

  • Like if your a boy but love this album

  • @ryanwaite28 Just heard two songs and am loving it already and yes, im a dude.

  • 5:10 clair de lune??

    not bad ^^

  • @diesechspfade yes! she samples it in this song, it sounds actually quite amazing like a fantasy disney score

  • @diesechspfade YES!!!! Glad im not the only one who noticed :D

  • for christmas I want to hear her sing 'Baby, it's cold outside'. oh wait..... Dear santa...

  • This woman is amazingly talented and so underrated. She is like an unfound gem in music. She was robbed at the Grammys with this album not being nominated for Album of the Year.

  • i have alot of respect and love for Janelle Monoe. Brilliant role model

  • I lovvvee janelle Monoe alot of people in England love her music and rest her. she is stunning and makes brilliant music without advertising her body parts, I know sex sales but most artists these days are over doing it Beyonce, Rihanna, Gaga and Nicki Minaj really piss me off because they can sing/ rap really well I don't understand why they like expressing themselves sexually 95% of the time they always naked.

  • Lovely, I'm just now finding out about her, it makes me sad to think how many other artist don't get the recognition that they deserve. We ll I know about her now very happy

  • How would Janelle Monae and Jamiroquai sound together you think?

  • @KizaSoze25 They would be amaaaazing.

  • She is so musical!!!! So Underrated!!!

  • Very Beautiful and Enchanting...She writes music from a place deep within her Spirit.....and a place far in the future

  • @coolyhigh100 or the past.

  • Janelle Monae + Madlib = wish come true

  • Claire De Lune gives me goosebumps. Such a moving piece of music.

  • 5:00 Uh...I think I got somethin in my eye....(sniff sniff)

  • the ending is absolutely beautiful... this woman knows how to make music! a lot of people may not understand it, but I feel like it was made especially for me sometimes... lol LOVE HER!!!

  • The world could end...outside our window....live like their's no tomorrow...

  • when i hear it i feel like i just jumped in a pool of relaxation and sunlight

  • She just gunned my ears down with legendaryness

  • she looks like an Egyptian princess.

  • i love love this song

  • I had this album on my MP3 player and hand't listened to it yet.... I put the player on random while I was driving and when this song came on I was completely blown away. Has to be one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. Makes me sad that there is so much great music out there I'll never even know of.

  • This woman is the Queen of Music. No, Empress of Music. I understand why she always wears B&W. Her songs create a divine world of color. She has done almost every genre. At 5:00, it sounds like Angels welcoming you into Heaven. I didn't know that was "Claire de Lune". She made it sound so new. She can't be compared to any artist today. She's light years past them. This Metropolis and Cindi began with her unrelased album "The Audition". But it sounds so new every album. AMAZING!!!

  • @KTBEverlasting I love this song for the Clair De Lune part, because it's so new and holy. It sure does sound like you're welcomed to Heaven.

  • Great flip of Rocket Love

  • what a beautiful song, thank goodness i caught this lady by chance whilst watching tv (glastonbury performance) a stellar discovery

  • I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE Her... go Monae

  • the 2nd verse and on made me cryy. listenin to this 3 in the mornin touches me

  • debussy and monae, what a romantic collaboration!

  • her voice is so beautiful ♥

  • DAMN, what's that on 5:00? Makes me cry every single day. Does anyone knows songs with parts like these ones? It reminds me Disney's Alice in Wonderland.

  • @bigbaby618 the piano song is Claire De Lune by Claude Debussy.....very beautiful

  • @bigbaby618 Clair de lune by Debussy. It's a piano piece

  • Love this song!! Its so good. How this album did not get into the fianl vote for a grammy is beyond me!

  • i only discovered janelle today and boy this song could not have been done better! loving her muchly ^_^

  • This song is truly epic.

  • Nobody's taken Clair de Lune and not screwed it up before. Today, I can log this as a success story.

  • Stevie!!! Love it!

  • Oh My God in Heaven who is this woman, that was some of the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard in my life, Jesus! Beautiful!!! Got to find me a soul sista like this and have her sing to me forever!

  • When the song strips back and back to being little more than her singing and a piano, I was frozen in my seat listening. And then, that quiet shift into Claire de Lune and the 1950s style tinny vocals ... I started to cry. Of all the love songs I have ever heard, none have hit me like this one did.

  • i love this joint.

  • Say you'll go to nirvana

  • I want to hear a collaboration between the the three most talented female artists of this generation: Janelle Monae, Kelis and Lady Gaga. These three aren't just singer, they are REAL RECORDING ARTISTS. The things they write about in their songs are far beyond the other females in the industry and that's why I love them.

  • @wrightbrooks

I don't know about Lady Gaga. If she create some new stuff than recycling the electric 80's pop, then we put her there.

  • @Dramactica That's the era she's most influenced by so her music is gonna sound like that, there's nothing wrong with that IMO. She's bringing that old Pop sound back and mixing it with modern Pop

  • I love reading comments on here...shows me that there actually ARE people who appreciate real music ;)

  • So much creativity in her album....example that clair de lune peice at the end...wow..

  • Whats the song at the end a sample of?

  • @Millehhh I believe it is the ending half of Clare De Lune by Debussy

  • My absolute favorite song PERIOD!!!

  • this is one of my top favorite songs. ever.

  • That end. It killed me. I just cant start breath again. Beatiful...

  • You go girl.

  • she's cute

  • Janelle Monae has really transcended music. Each song being its own piece in a story told through word and song. I would hands down consider this to be the new fine arts for new age. Lets all hope this decade of music can stand up side by side with the likes of this. Both the critics and fans agree. The next Prince anyone? Or better yet Lauryn Hill? ........thoughts comments

  • I think Janelle Monae is the next Janelle Monae. It is very complimentary to of course be considered the next Prince or Lauryn Hill given that they are two of the best artist to ever perform. However Janelle is so in her own lane that this breaks the threshold of new wave and ArchAndroid is almost..a new sound,or her interpretation of old sounds..I love only a handful of todays artist, but Janelle deserves to be at the top.Diddy just doesnt know what to do with this immense talent imo

  • @RomanRoyale janelle monae....is the....next janelle monae?? wtf she is janelle monae....ur retarded

  • no im not retarded.Janelle monae is the next Janelle monae. That means she is HERSELF she isnt the next Prince or whatever because the people known as "the next someone"never seem to last?Remember Ciara was the next Janet? The point is she defines herself and apparently people agree with me.Did you even read the entire post?if you didnt get it after that then..you may be the retarded one lol

  • @PeterRoMusic your words are dead on how i have felt since first hearing this album... with one exception. I consider her to be the next "all the greats" in combination.

  • i wonder if cindi mayweather knows chris gaines...

    OY VEY!

  • This song is absolutely beautiful...

  • My word, exquisite!!! . And the ending, bravo. Clair de lune was my favorite song to practice on the piano. lalalala-love this. Thanks for posting :D

  • I love this song. Great sensitivity and eloquence at the moment of composing it.

  • here is a true visionary. seriously, you never find this kind of scope on someone so young. i should know...i'm 21 and a musician and am NOWHERE close to this.

  • isnt the love between a man and a woman (or man and android) an example of samsara?

  • @mmafightcritic love isnt only between a man and a woman.

  • Janelle Monae's music was there for me during a very hard time in my life. I am always grateful.

  • love this song!!

  • that piano ending is so irrevocably heartbreaking, and janelle's voice so pleading and equally heartrending. the woman is a genius.

  • Comment removed

  • possibly the most beautiful woman ever

  • I love the whole song, but at "The World Could End Today" and every word after it makes me cry......"Love is not a fantasy" #ThankingGODForThatRightNOW! <3

  • Song on repeat all day until I understand the lyrics. She's just that good. Classic Artist. And she is NUMBER # on my list right now. SHE IS MUSIC!

  • The ending is beautiful how she starts to slow the flow and the androids come in and finish for her

  • I hear a bit of Claude Debussy in the end...

  • 4:47 till 5:00

    GOOSEBUMPS

    Beautiful - epic - WAOW

  • ...." lets write forever, name in fire in each others heart"... damn if she writes her own songs then she's 'Uber' talented.

  • i absolutely love this song. listen to this song, they sampled this song. it's really good

    youtube.com/watch?v=tCKpfolU4bI

  • Cd is 5stars and box hot wings.

  • 3 people refuse to say that they will go.

  • I didn't understand anything of the music - I'm brazilian, then hearing and understanding to me still is a little dificult - but I just started to dance while hearing this music. It's sooo beautiful. She's soooo beautiful. Her voice is soooo beautiful. Everything is beautiful on her *-* - except in the "Bodies" music video, she's a bad bad girl è.e but an awesome sadist (i don't know how to write it)

  • @TenisJr There is no official video for the bodies video or it would be on Cee Lo's Youtube page, it seems like a video someone just decided to make (a very good quality one at that). I think the cleavage thing was the work of photoshop.

  • Do do do, duru do do, I love this song!

  • I Love this song.

Does anbody know the original classical song which she has sampled at the end?

  • @NikkolaLewinsky Claire de Lune, I believe.

  • I love this song!!! Reminds me of Stevie Wonder sooo much!

  • @erika2012vsu me too!

  • She is transcendent! you can hear so much great artistry in here, from stevie wonder, roberta flack, sara vaughn, sade and Zhane.

  • Wow. Okay, so I'm just discovering JM. This track is GORGEOUS. Reminds me of some StevieW. Thrilled to have heard her...will be purchasing first thing tomorrow...yeah; from an actual real-life SHOP! ; )

  • Every time this song plays an android gets pregnant.

  • Yeah she is a really special and wonderful artist. I have been into her for a year and some months now.

  • @skiz06...Janelle is that you??? lol.... Great breakdown

  • OMG CLAIR DE LUNE!!! 5:00

  • 3 dislikes?! Those 3 people couldn't "tightrope" down "neon valley Street" in a "cold war" to save their life. It's okay because they're "locked inside" a "wondaland" without a clue.

  • @lilhavin you, my friend, are a genius. :)

  • @matthewjamal Thanks, but I give credit to the awesome Janelle Monae!

  • @lilhavin LMAO!!!!!!!! Tell um "Dance or Die" they'd die!! SMH

  • This is one of the smoothest song i have heard in a long time, Janelle Monae is the truth. ArchAndroid is a classic. I love her voice.

  • Thanks for accepting my video request. I appreciate it.

  • she is such an enigma...

  • "Love is not a fantasy, a haiku written in Japanese. A word too often used, but not believed" That's the line that gets me EVERY time

  • they fucked up on the betwards because she can sing her ass off.

    get mam

  • i experienced an emotional breakdown hearing this piece. When I heard traces of clair de lune, I almost lost it.

  • 3 losers like Soulja Boy

  • The lyrics of this song is just awesome. Now add the melody. And you see why music can be eternal

  • 3 idiots clicke the dislike button

  • Comment removed

  • the melody was taken from Stevie Wonder's Rocket Love and she even refernces it in the song "...an underwater rocket". My favourite song from her is Babopbyeya though...it's sooooooooooo sexy and it makes me feel powerful and important.

  • @annisaarthur2708 ME TOO!!!

  • this sound like a song MJ would sing.

  • hmm this song also has the same drum innovations from Stevie Wonders "Girl Blue" as I read the albums productions.

  • addicted.

  • wait. this is amazing. i feel like she listened to clair de lune and saw the meaning behind the music and made it into this masterpiece. this song is truly a work of art. it flows so gracefully from her interpretation and then into the piece.

i feel like i just had an epiphany. i can't believe how amazing and talented this woman is

  • According to the cd liner "Contains an interpolation of "Clair de Lune" by Claude Debussy O_0 the musicality of this song...this album is amazing!

  • very very good.........the music industry has not flatlined just yet........this is proof that real talent is still surfacing occasionally

  • I think of how much I love my man, whenever I hear this song.

  • the piano from 5:00 is from cleir de lune by debussy :0

  • @Domchiee the best thing is that it hasnt just been slapped in there for good measure....it actually fits the mood of the yune beautifully

  • I can hear this song everyday.....this song goes out to the romantics

  • This song makes me want to cry. It's just so beautiful.

  • That Claire de Lune sample was so slick and you wouldn't be able to see it coming...brilliantly composed song

  • The world could end outside our window

    Let's find forever

and write our names in fire on each others hearts

  • This has got to be THE smoothest song I've ever heard.

  • There shouldn't even be a dislike button on this video just love or like

  • This has become one of my favorite songs from the second half of the ArchAndroid.

  • I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song is incredible

  • this is my favorite song off this album

  • what yall know about this!!!! neo-soul at its finest!

  • I dont know why but everytime I hear this song, I picture Stevie Wonder singing over it. It just sounds like a song Stevie would sing to.

  • @SW4TR3PP1N Stevie Wonder's Rocket Love

  • @coolkidde & @SW4TR3PP1N She says it in the song. "An underwater Rocket Love..."

  • This is from Stevie Wonder's Rocket Love, but Her version is MUCH better

  • Reminds me of a John Legend song, LUV IT!

  • B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L ....~~Laudy~~Laudy~~.... just Heavenly!

Reminiscent of Diane Reeves : )

  • 3 ppl don't believe in love

  • Suite Bergamasque at the end! What a beautiful song.

  • @butteredflies THANK YOU. That theme sounded sooooo familiar.. didn't know from where tho.. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

  • huhhh this is just huhhhh ridiculously wonderful.i keep dragging the mouse back to 0:00

  • This needs a music video.

  • Ho. Lee. Crap.

  • @MistaKlutch I got some choice words that describe you to a tee, it goes like this;

    "Simple Simon"

The "PAROCHIAL PIE MAN" could'nt even BAKE let alone "THINK", so to know real talent one must have a BRAIN that is not DRAINED, STAINED, or in your case completely no longer SUSTAINED.

  • Clair The Lune at the end...OMG this blown me away!

  • One of the most atmospheric, poetic songs in recent years. Visionary! Kudos.

  • this song is beautiful the whole album is

  • Comment removed

  • WOW....GREAT MELODY....GREAT LYRICS....what more can you ask for?

  • @miro5753 And you don't have to be a Buddhist to understand "the words of Dhammapada...who will lead, who will follow?"

  • I love the part where she says "Say you'll go to nirvana ? Will you leave Samsara? "

only a few will understand that. Song is a masterpiece.

  • @FliLyfe I know right! The chorus is sooooo sweet-sounding

  • Comment removed

  • @FliLyfe You forced me to wikipedia the term "samsara" wow. this song just took on a whole new & fresh meaning since copping this album earlier this year! THANK YOU!
