Hi Stephan, I'm not sure if you watch the ultimate fighter, but in the latest season, there was a fellow who had an innovative take on the guillotine choke, which worked quite well even when his opponent was in side control.
It was more of a blood choke than a air choke. If you've seen it, I'd love your take on it :-D
@thecardmonkey its more of a wind choke, your radius bone is digging into their windpipe, its painful, unlike the blood circulation chokes where you feel a constriction and less painful. this choke taps you easily if done correctly.
@dni10 the take down has to be really fast but a way i have found is to keep your hands up until the last moment possible and then keep your head close to his body when you are taking him down and then pop your head up when he is down
@dni10 Learn Judo. Or do double underhooks and pretend to go into the butterfly guard, but instead roll the guy over you, go into full mount, and give the guy an Americana, a bunch of punches or elbows. Or bear hug the guy from the front, and leg trip him. But if you seriously want to go for a takedown, start out with the single leg and drive the guy foward, and if he doesn't fall, grab ahold of his right leg and take him down. Get him off-balance.
@dni10 The way i do it is, if he get his arms around my neck i step to the side and pick up his leg with my forarm. Then i slam him down in the side mount and from there i twist my chin against his ribs so he can't put any pressure on my throat, and that always works. It will require some strength but you don't have to be a Brock Lesnar to do it.
I'm really surprised that people spend so much time arguing over the internet. What does this accomplish? Are you just satisfying some primitive drive for dominance? No one likes to believe that humans came from apes but we sure act like it at times.
why are you calling me an idiot dude. u like tlaking shit on the inernet? your a punk dude, fucking asshole prick. you are the reason we train to fight back bully like you. he trains beginners. go to a gym dude

Nice heres a better one, The Gai-postion. Firstly, Flip them over. Secondly, Adjust yourself on them. And you know what to do from their Faggots. I h8 jujitsu of what evr the f*** u guys r doin
guillotine is effective from full mount and full guard from half guard if their head is in the same side as their knee. anything but that is giving your opponent your arm, for the armbar, but what this guy is doing, is good, is giving you special details on the guillotine one of the real basics but remember in grappling with the basic knowledge is enough to understand this great fighting style.
man, im not trying to boost your ego but you teach well...not all instructors can deliver the right explanation of every move, coz i believe that every move in ground fighting has its own reason...anyway, i leave in the phils, how could i possibly get few of your instructional videos or books?would there be?thanks and more power...
I WILL give it a go, & tell you how I went with it.. I `ve never seen that shoulder choke b4, I will defnly adopt & see if it works 4 me.. Thanks 4 vid..
As usual, Stephen's videos are full of detail and show you exactly how to do the move. If you ever get a chance to train with Stephen, take full advantage, as he is an excellent instructor, and overall a really good guy.

Great technique however, almost impossible to get it if you're side mounted, your opponent has to either suck or weigh 100 pounds lighter than u.

why not try the "von Flue" technique when you are side mounted on an opponent, and you have your opponent in the standard side-control position ?
