Another one of Canada's National Treasures!! Love the beautiful pictures of Nova Scotia and Catherines wonderful voice - truly "the voice of an angel." Catherine is one of my favorite Canadian female singers of all time.
I visited Nova Scotia back in '76. My ship USS Milwaukee made a port call. You great people treated us like we were your own. That was the only liberty port where I could not spend a dime. You treated us like family. I'd walk into a pub, and the drinks were stacked up in front of me. Even the restaurants refused to take my money. I live in Hawai'i now. But, I still tear up about you fantastic people. I'd love to visit, again. =Stefan=
Catherine could have made a fortune if she had taken the multi-million dollar contracts offered to her to leave Canada for the U.S. but she never did and thus never became that known around the world. That's OK Catherine, you're very special to Canadians. Thank you for sharing your God given talent and thank you Vadess40 for posting it. I too have this LP.
Beautiful version by Catherine McKinnon. Bought this record in Canada in 1971 and now - 2009 - it still sounds fantastic. That is the biggest compliment for a singer. Not outdated, simply timeless and impressing again and again. Catherine's folksongs (she sang different styles later) suited her the best. Regards from the Netherlands.
You can take the girl out of canada, but you can never take canada out of the girl! I love my country. And thx for the good wishes! (I won't be leaving for another year, I still have to "psych up" to leave!)

I lived in Nova Scotia - Cape Breton Island, for a couple of years when I was 10; it takes a bite out of your heart that you never get back.
