Nice, you're only compairing two dogs of a breed though. At that, you may be compairing a GSD with low drive and a Caucasian with high drive. I know the schutzhund shepherds I've worked with are much more aggressive when you tell them to be.

Caucasian shepherd is one of the strongest dogs and German shepherd isnt a problem with them. i have seen lots of Pitbulls rotweilers, German Dogs, mastinos, and this kind of shit dogs, CO rules abainst any dog only CAO is 50%-50% Cao is strong like CO. so please what German Shepherd and what chaochao, they are decoration dogs.

I would like to mention one more thing, with regards to my previous comment about my brother's German shepherd ripping through tires, yes, it did happen, but, i do not encourage that as it is dangerous for a dogs teeth and gums, to be honest, my brother never expected his dog to bite through, so thought it was a harmless toy, anyway, his dog is limited to what it plays with now :) Also, i am not into online bickering, so if anyone likes 1 dog more than the other, thats great, i like both breeds!
No disrespect to the CAO, or the owner of this video, but this was def a poor choice of GSD used. While i love German shepherds, i am not a fan of show-line types, and that is what appears to be in this video. My brother has a Sable German shepherd from working line and is hard core! Was never trained, yet, when tested, went for decoy full force, and as far as power... this dog not only bites through tires, but rips through them! Both CAO and GSD are great, i wont say 1 is better than the other

hey ! i wanna say something from personal experience! , i had a working line GSD like 5 years ago , and it was very smart , loyal,,but wn i started a new job a month later it was stolen ! i dont know how but my neighbors tell me a dude used to pass by and feed it ! then i got a CO as a gift , this thing does not even accept food from my wife !! only me ! even if it starved to death,, CO has one owner in a life time ,, loyal to the max , aa guard dog without training , it wd really take a bullet

If your happy with your CO, thats awesome, im truly happy for you! However, they will never match up to the ALL ROUND cababilities of a true working line German shepherd.. thats a FACT, not opinion! If CO's were as good as there owners like to think, they would be military and police dogs, but there not!

@MrBigshalash I know the video your talking about, was very interesting. Again, i like Ovcharka! But, i have dealt with GSD a long time, and the ones i had were all natural guardians w/out training! I really dont want to say one is better than the other because lets face it.. the Doberman owner will say his dog is best, as will the Rott owner, Kangal owner, etc. Truth is, there all good! As far as GSD, the ones i have dealt with were always highly territorial and awesome guard dogs.

@MrBigshalash sure :) one big thing that seperates a working line GSD from showline is it's back and structure.. while a showline GSD is slender and has a severe angulated back.. a working line one will have a more straight back, and heavier build.. not too heavy, but def more boxier looking, also, colors arent so pretty on working line, if you want, i will send some good videos i found on here of working line GSD.

Oh, and you know that the bite of the german shepherd is more powerful than pit bulls, agerntinian dogos, mastiffs, ovcharkas? yes, it's true, the german shepherd was cross bred with wolves, and they should thank the wolves for the incredible developed and seitive nose and for the mighty scissor bite, 118 kg, the only breed that can beat the german shepherd is the rottweiler. Also the german shepherds have bigger teeth than rotties and ovcharkas.
@missdogirl I'm sorry to tell you but the GSD's teeth are nowhere near the size of the teeth of on Ovcharka and neither can they bite as hard either but if you don't believe me I can easily make a video comparing the size of my female GSD's teeth to the size of my female Central Asian Ovcharka's teeth but I must say GSD's are awesome dogs the six I've had have all been amazing dogs :)

The Ovcharka's make awesome pets but I will advise you to talk to people who have owned them for an honest opinion cause they are very dominant and forceful at times , I also think the GSD in this video was not the right choice to use when comparing to a CO as this is a show type GSD which are notorious for having low drive as you can see in the video a working GSD would've done considerably better :)

German shepherds are the best breed. They may not be the bet guard dog, nor the bet search/traking dog, nor the best herding dog, nor the best family dog...etc,but you'll NEVER find another dog breed that can do all of that almost perfectly, they're they're very srong,super loyal and protective of is owner and pack, "enourmosly" intelligent,"expectaculary" obediente and "fantasticly" brave and they're also very sweet beatiful creatures, they'll do anything for you. German shepherds all the way!
I'd also like to say: When was the last time anyone got attacked by a wolf or bear? It's more likely that you will get attacked by a human in an urban setting, for that you need breeds that have a proven track record. I know, in some russian prisons they use CO's but they also use working line GSD's... So in short, the argument that the CO would kick a GSD's ass is childish. Just because a pitbull can kick ass doesn't make him a protection breed...
Wow people are confusing arguments here. Dog vs man or dog vs animal.... If I want a dog that will stand his ground against a man I would choose a working line GSD, a malinois or a dutch shepherd. Those are proven breeds in military, law enforment and civilian protection. Unfair comparison. COs have natural guard dog instincts, they have been bred for hundreds of years to defend livestock from predators like bears and wolves. GSD hasn't, they need more training. Clearly the GSD in this video hasn't had enough training.

@nico2710 you have no idea what you are talking about. Ask any sheep or goat rancher that has to deal with wolves. They have dogs that are breed to do nothing but protect the heard. From what I hear if its a one on one fight the odds are 50/50 that the dog wins. It depends on the wolf size and skill. Most of the time they never fight to the death. The ranch dogs are able to scare a single wolf off. Also don't forget about the wolf-hound they were breed to kill wolves.

look guys I own two CO and they both make gsd shit themselves, all the gsd owners comment on how they wish their gsd where as defensive as my CO's. If you have never owned a CO and GSD, which I have and do then you have not got a clue. GSD's are for people who want a servant and CO's are for those who want a friend and thinking dog. Hahaha acting as if all GSD and all CO are the same is silly. My grandfather had a gsd that would piss if you yelled at it, yet clearly that is not so for all gsds. Your dogs almost look too agressive. I wouldn't let a kid near it, that's for sure. Of course you might have it well trained, but this video doesn't illustrate if that is the case.

It was attacked by two pit bulls that had escaped their yard. It send the two pit bulls running. Note: The pit bulls were also in their prime age. True story.
In every breed you will get strong and weak individuals. What people need to do is only breed the strong ones.

This test doesnt prove anything,, a real working line GSD would have attacked with alot more drive. Its obvious they used a low drive dog to make the Ovcharka look better. And anyone with common sense knows it too! I am not saying this to put down the Ovcharka, they are powerful dogs and awesome guard dogs! I will still pick a German shepherd though as my first choice for protection. Thats my personal preference.

@blue gma 500 i've never had a show type G.S.D. to me they aren't what a German Shepherd should be. they deviate so much from the original standard that they only have a slight resemblance of the original G.S.D. . the size and substance of the dog is now totaly different to the original dogs . the Shiloh shepherd is an impressive dog that is being bred to the original standard set out by Max von Stephanitz and the East European Shepherd is about as near the original standard that you can get

@bluegama500 I def agree! I have had German shepherds all my life,, and always got the Working type ones,, they are built better, more functional for work, and way less prone to hip problems. Why these show people are ruining there hips and bodies by slanting them and thinning them out is beyond me. My last GSD lived to almost 11; cancer got him, but until his last day, his hips were excellent, and he was an awesome schutzhund dog, i contribute that to him being a working line GSD!

You obviously used a low drive, unsuited for guard work GSD in this comparison test and a good CAO because your trying to make the CAO look so much better, truth be told, most German shepherds have way more drive than the one in this video,, and when it comes down too it, the German shepherd is a way better well rounded guard dog than the CAO! As a breed, you cannot compare a GSDs defense drive to that of a COs. Sorry to say, as versatile and how much of a better police dog the GSD may be - the CO is superior in defense. I have both a G shepard and a Rot. The rotty is considerably stronger in the pulling category,but the shepard is by far the more attentive and arrgessive/protective of the two,as well as more agile on the obstacle course,but once the rot bites down on the sleeve he doesn't turn loose till commanded to. I mean he's just not letting go,where the shepard will bite multiple times in multiple areas so we wear the suit for him. I weigh 255lbs and the rotty can drag me easily 50yds. Cool dogs...
Also hotchillies mentions how pound for pound a GSD is stronger. That's absolute rubbish as well!! A female CO is about the size of a large male GSD but they are much heavier built. A CO is much more physically robust breed, even if we got a small male CO the height of a GSD it would still have a larger head, therefore more jaw strength and a thicker set body; equaling more strength to overpower.

Well my Lab would give his life for me but when I want the dog to not only defend me but survive I choose a Kangal and a CO. Prefer Kangal but my CO doesn't back down from his big brother Kangal. I will say this, it is very difficult to pull a Kangal and CO off eachother but pretty easy to pull a Lab off a CO and think about the fact that a lab is typically heavier than a GSD. GSDs' are great but Kangals' and CO's are just as intelligent and better determiners of threat.
I have 2 COs. First off, my little bitch is 125 lb. Next to a GSD it's 50% more dog - see it and you'll understand - think GSD next to cocker spaniel. Forget about my 175 lb. male. They have sheer mass that will blow your mind.
As regards fighting, besides simply not having the temperment to expend the energy, COs have huge, thick manes. At play, dogs grab at it, but they only get fur.
My boy has a 24" head. He doesn't need to "fight" he can take an entire head in his mouth & shake.
I want to aquire 2 of these dogs. I am a retired firefighter . I have had pit bulls and spanish presa canarios. I can manage the training of these great dogs. The fact that I am retired will give me time to train and aquaint these dogs to civil be haviour.

Pound for pound, ant is able to lift many times its weight - doesn't make it the strongest. GS's are strong and so on,but you have to understand though, that CO is on a different scale of size. It's like putting a middle-weight boxer against a super-heavyweight - the middle-weight will be faster and more agile, and probably a smarter fighter, but the heavyweight is more likely to win simply because of endurance and sheer power behind the punch, even if pound for pound he won't have as much musle

I would like to mention one more thing, with regards to my previous comment about my brother's German shepherd ripping through tires, yes, it did happen, but, i do not encourage that as it is dangerous for a dogs teeth and gums, to be honest, my brother never expected his dog to bite through, so thought it was a harmless toy, anyway, his dog is limited to what it plays with now :) Also, i am not into online bickering, so if anyone likes 1 dog more than the other, thats great, i like both breeds!

No disrespect to the CAO, or the owner of this video, but this was def a poor choice of GSD used. While i love German shepherds, i am not a fan of show-line types, and that is what appears to be in this video. My brother has a Sable German shepherd from working line and is hard core! Was never trained, yet, when tested, went for decoy full force, and as far as power... this dog not only bites through tires, but rips through them! Both CAO and GSD are great, i wont say 1 is better than the other

hey ! i wanna say something from personal experience! , i had a working line GSD like 5 years ago , and it was very smart , loyal,,but wn i started a new job a month later it was stolen ! i dont know how but my neighbors tell me a dude used to pass by and feed it ! then i got a CO as a gift , this thing does not even accept food from my wife !! only me ! even if it starved to death,, CO has one owner in a life time ,, loyal to the max , aa guard dog without training , it wd really take a bullet

@MrBigshalash what your referring too is a SHOWLINE GSD... they are NOT the same as REAL WORKING line GSD, trust me! Try feeding my German shepherd... the only thing it will eat is your arm! If your happy with your CO, thats awesome, im truly happy for you! However, they will never match up to the ALL ROUND cababilities of a true working line German shepherd.. thats a FACT, not opinion! If CO's were as good as there owners like to think, they would be military and police dogs, but there not!

@MrBigshalash I know the video your talking about, was very interesting. Again, i like Ovcharka! But, i have dealt with GSD a long time, and the ones i had were all natural guardians w/out training! I really dont want to say one is better than the other because lets face it.. the Doberman owner will say his dog is best, as will the Rott owner, Kangal owner, etc. Truth is, there all good! As far as GSD, the ones i have dealt with were always highly territorial and awesome guard dogs.

@MrBigshalash sure :) one big thing that seperates a working line GSD from showline is it's back and structure.. while a showline GSD is slender and has a severe angulated back.. a working line one will have a more straight back, and heavier build.. not too heavy, but def more boxier looking, also, colors arent so pretty on working line, if you want, i will send some good videos i found on here of working line GSD.

Btw, they wear big spiked collars around there necks to protect them from the wolves if a physical confrontation does occur!! The Ovcharka's make awesome pets but I will advise you to talk to people who have owned them for an honest opinion cause they are very dominant and forceful at times , I also think the GSD in this video was not the right choice to use when comparing to a CO as this is a show type GSD which are notorious for having low drive as you can see in the video a working GSD would've done considerably better :)

They may not be the bet guard dog, nor the bet search/traking dog, nor the best herding dog, nor the best family dog...etc,but you'll NEVER find another dog breed that can do all of that almost perfectly, they're they're very srong,super loyal and protective of is owner and pack, "enourmosly" intelligent,"expectaculary" obediente and "fantasticly" brave and they're also very sweet beatiful creatures, they'll do anything for you. I'd also like to say: When was the last time anyone got attacked by a wolf or bear? It's more likely that you will get attacked by a human in an urban setting, for that you need breeds that have a proven track record. I know, in some russian prisons they use CO's but they also use working line GSD's... So in short, the argument that the CO would kick a GSD's ass is childish. Just because a pitbull can kick ass doesn't make him a protection breed...

Wow people are confusing arguments here. Dog vs man or dog vs animal.... If I want a dog that will stand his ground against a man I would choose a working line GSD, a malinois or a dutch shepherd. Those are proven breeds in military, law enforment and civilian protection. You may say "the GSD, mal, or DS would shit its pants against an CO" well truth is that I'd never buy just because a CO could fight a wolf or another dog. That's ludicrous.

Unfair comparison. COs have natural guard dog instincts, they have been bred for hundreds of years to defend livestock from predators like bears and wolves. GSD hasn't, they need more training. Clearly the GSD in this video hasn't had enough training.

From what I hear if its a one on one fight the odds are 50/50 that the dog wins. It depends on the wolf size and skill. Most of the time they never fight to the death. The ranch dogs are able to scare a single wolf off. Also don't forget about the wolf-hound they were breed to kill wolves.

COs are more independent and harder to train, but they are also natural born killers because they've been bred to protect livestock from predators like bears and wolves for hundreds of years, and know instinctively how and where to attack. So it's unfair to compare them like this, clearly the CO is superior in this regard.

Hahaha acting as if all GSD and all CO are the same is silly. My grandfather had a gsd that would piss if you yelled at it, yet clearly that is not so for all gsds. Your dogs almost look too agressive. I wouldn't let a kid near it, that's for sure. Of course you might have it well trained, but this video doesn't illustrate if that is the case.
As to that GSD, my cocker spaniel was more agressive. Not a sporting comparison at all.

It was attacked by two pit bulls that had escaped their yard. It send the two pit bulls running. Note: The pit bulls were also in their prime age. True story.

This test doesnt prove anything,, a real working line GSD would have attacked with alot more drive. Its obvious they used a low drive dog to make the Ovcharka look better. And anyone with common sense knows it too! I am not saying this to put down the Ovcharka, they are powerful dogs and awesome guard dogs! I will still pick a German shepherd though as my first choice for protection. Thats my personal preference.

@blue gma 500 i've never had a show type G.S.D. to me they aren't what a German Shepherd should be. they deviate so much from the original standard that they only have a slight resemblance of the original G.S.D. . the size and substance of the dog is now totaly different to the original dogs . the Shiloh shepherd is an impressive dog that is being bred to the original standard set out by Max von Stephanitz and the East European Shepherd is about as near the original standard that you can get

Why these show people are ruining there hips and bodies by slanting them and thinning them out is beyond me. My last GSD lived to almost 11; cancer got him, but until his last day, his hips were excellent, and he was an awesome schutzhund dog, i contribute that to him being a working line GSD!

I have both a G shepard and a Rot. The rotty is considerably stronger in the pulling category,but the shepard is by far the more attentive and arrgessive/protective of the two,as well as more agile on the obstacle course,but once the rot bites down on the sleeve he doesn't turn loose till commanded to. I mean he's just not letting go,where the shepard will bite multiple times in multiple areas so we wear the suit for him. I weigh 255lbs and the rotty can drag me easily 50yds. Cool dogs...

Also hotchillies mentions how pound for pound a GSD is stronger. That's absolute rubbish as well!! A female CO is about the size of a large male GSD but they are much heavier built. A CO is much more physically robust breed, even if we got a small male CO the height of a GSD it would still have a larger head, therefore more jaw strength and a thicker set body; equaling more strength to overpower.

Well my Lab would give his life for me but when I want the dog to not only defend me but survive I choose a Kangal and a CO. Prefer Kangal but my CO doesn't back down from his big brother Kangal. I will say this, it is very difficult to pull a Kangal and CO off eachother but pretty easy to pull a Lab off a CO and think about the fact that a lab is typically heavier than a GSD. GSDs' are great but Kangals' and CO's are just as intelligent and better determiners of threat.

I have 2 COs. First off, my little bitch is 125 lb. Next to a GSD it's 50% more dog - see it and you'll understand - think GSD next to cocker spaniel. Forget about my 175 lb. male. They have sheer mass that will blow your mind.
As regards fighting, besides simply not having the temperment to expend the energy, COs have huge, thick manes. At play, dogs grab at it, but they only get fur.
My boy has a 24" head. He doesn't need to "fight" he can take an entire head in his mouth & shake.

LOL you think some GSD's could actually be stronger than CO's?mman GSD's are the most overrated dog.Sure they may be faster,but stronger?no way,how is a 30kg or even 40kg GSD gonna be stronger than a 90kg or EVEN 110kg CO.Oh and i can send links to some of those videos if you want,dumbass.

@bluegama500 -- Depends how you're trying to define strength, for example, i know for a fact that a GOOD male German shepherds is POUND FOR POUND more stronger than a CO, so in other words, if the CO was the same size as the GSD, the GSD would be stronger, fact over fiction and assumptions my friend.
Regarding the videos, send them at free will, after all, they won't prove anything, because a few videos can't stereotype a breed into something that people WANT to BELIEVE.

Pound for pound, ant is able to lift many times its weight - doesn't make it the strongest. GS's are strong and so on,but you have to understand though, that CO is on a different scale of size. It's like putting a middle-weight boxer against a super-heavyweight - the middle-weight will be faster and more agile, and probably a smarter fighter, but the heavyweight is more likely to win simply because of endurance and sheer power behind the punch, even if pound for pound he won't have as much musle

@bluegama500 -- You claim of a CO killing two wolves, what KIND of wolves were they? were they small? were they large? were they even tenacious towards the CO?
So many factors are involved with everything, you can't just believe something you hear or see.

If you have to find the "right" GS to deal with a CO, so to speak, then the "right" kind of CO would own any GS you would be able to find.

you are a fool if you really believe a German shepherd would beat a CO. My Akita has had the od encounter with a German Shepherd and had them pinned within seconds. A CO is much larger.

If you observed properly, you would of realized that he was NOT saying that a German shepherd would beat a CO, his logic is that it is foolish to judge a breed and assume that one breed can always kill another, because that is not always true! Don't be an ignoramus!

That statement is totally untrue. GSDs are not a fighting dog and don't have the character or gameness that is needed to fight and defeat a dog which is nearly double their weight, has much more jaw strength and very athletic for their size. You are the ignoramus by not realizing the facts!

Like i said buddy, the logic was NOT that a GSD could beat a CO, the logic is that it is foolish to say that every CO could beat every GSD, because not every dog is perfect.
There are plenty of GSDs out there that can HANDLE themselves.
