the most beautiful music in the Sow is just before the Chorus come in with Sail On Sail On- i never understood why Yeston never made more of this beautiful theme! it could have saved this Musical
so...my high school is doing this in the spring, and i was wondering, are they...y'know, dead/underwater at this point? i've never really known...just wondering? -- you all sound wonderful by the way!
Basically we made a trough in the stage and put metal grates on top so people could still walk on it. Each end of the trough had pumps to circulate water up the pipes. The top pipes had tons of holes drilled in them in a straight line so the water came out straight down. Then we just used a projector, and the water became a screen. Then obviously the water fell back into the trough and re-circulated.
And "vivalamoochicken" (in related videos) has a better view of the screen.
WOW FANTASTIC SET. AND AMAZING CAST. Shame none f the groups i am with can afford any giat sets like these. Titanics a hard show to perform. I bet with the scenery you had, it was really tough. BTW who dd you play? as Titanic seems to have a part for everyone.
And I was a part of the build/tech crew, and was the stage manager for the show.
As far as the cost, really the most expensive parts were renting the fiber optic star curtain and buying all the metal for the set. It did cost more than a regular show, but we fundraised like crazy and also saved a lot of money by building things like the water screen ourselves and such.
It was definitely tough, and I can honestly say I never want to do it ever, ever again :)
OMG. Wow. You would never get me doing set building or even set designing haha. I prefer attempting to be in the Limelight even though i'm rubbish haha. You should see the sets from some of the shows ive been in. You should watch "the gondoliers" on my page. Our set was really plain. But it was fun to use haha. I think the idea of Building it yourself i might run past the society and say. Let's build a et using recycled materials haha. Well done!
Unfortunately this was recorded at the back of our house which is right where the projector was angled at. So the other 95% of the audience could actually make out the images and not a blinding star of light.
could you please tell me where you guys got the rights to this show

Was the water screen bad or something?? With your *coughs* in the description, it seems like it didn't work out too well. lol.

Haha no it worked fine. It was just such a big ordeal on top of everything else we had to build.
Plus we spent a lot of time to make it part (open/close). Which ended up not being used at all.
