By all accounts this band should not be as famous as they are. Not because they're bad...on the contrary, they're great. It's just sad that the internet has made things like this so palatable for the masses; so exposed. Because there's no sense of discovery or mystery any more. If this were the late 70's most of the people that claim to like this band would A. not even know who they are or B. think they are just plain weird.
Isn't it a good thing people are more open-minded then? You're right, if it weren't for the internet, I wouldn't have heard this song for at least a while. I live in a very small town, they have literally 1 radio station (that is, one radio station that doesn't play country music). All they play is ultra-pop sh*t. I'm glad for Youtube. You see, it's easy for you to say things like the YYYs shouldn't be this popular because of the internet when you don't know the other side of the story......
well it's more complicated than just two sides of one story
it's true that the internet has made us take good music for granted
we are way more jaded as music listeners now rock n roll isn't near as important to people as it has been in the past and the internet is partly to blame
I do believe "When Kurt Cobain died, music died" thing...not to mention Kurt was a rock n roll legend himself, which is what I think is PARTLY responsible 4 everything now--shitty rap & auto-tune. Plus, so many bands are trying to get signed. Back in tha 20th century, music was just starting to make it's way into ppl's daily lives...While just a few moments back from that, all that mattered was that you had a plate of food to eat.
@willowtreeblooze excuse me but I don't like this sort of ranting at all. good music should be available for everyone. or would you prefer people to get only massive shit like Lady Gaga? being greedy sucks.
