i also like spartan111713 can't get molten globs i used your super striker i scraped off all the paint and all i get are sparks that go about two inches maybe three if i'm lucky and just aren't bold like the molten globs i think a lmf would almost be better in a survival situation unless you can get some more of the softer ones that produce good sparks
I purchased a Bobcat firesteel blank but I am struggling to make the molten globs of metal instead of sparks, could you suggest an alternative to using this type of striker? Preferably something you could find at home?
@Spartan111713 The manufacturer has started making the rods a little harder, so getting big globs is tougher these days. The squared off spine of a fixed blade has always worked the best for me.

Would you recomend a LMF or one of your misch metals
LTsurvivalskills 8 months ago
@LTsurvivalskills Depends on what you prefer. The LMF products are easier to use, but the sparks do not last as long.

when are you going to get more of those fire steels with handles? i saw them once in the new products section but never got a chance to buy one.
and what size rods do they come with?

@Delta8559272 Not sure, my dad is not very reliable about producing them. They come with either 3/8" or 1/2" rods, whatever length you want.
