  • I think I may be borrowing some of your moves for next years routines. Loved it!

  • LOVE the flag, and routine, but there were some mistakes, like jumping when you tossed, and reaching up for your flag.

  • I LOVE UR FLAGS!

  • don't jump on your toss! but that was fantastic :)

  • how do you do the thing where the flag spins in front of you then ends up behind you? its at 28 seconds?

  • & <3 the backscratcher!!!:)

  • U should SOOOO b the captain :) good luck

  • My band did that song, Karn Evil 9, for parades this year and last year! That was some pretty cool flag stuff! I'll have to try some of it!

  • Omg! You should so be the captin!

  • It doesn't hurt to smile a bit :D But overall pretty good for sophmore year.

  • i dont see y u think ur so bad i mean i cant even do anything that fast

  • that was awesome! the only down side to it is watch your free hand, besides that i loved it(:

  • are you dillusional?! there were no mistakes you looked amazing!!!

  • This was pretty great!

    You freakin' manhandled that flag!

  • That was awesome. Btw her free arms were amazing. And the ppl that r saying her free arm sucks are retarded cuz they don't even know the routine or the free arms. Just saying... I am in colorguard. So don't say I have no clue what I'm saying.

  • that was great perfect releases

  • you are AMAZING. you do not suck!

  • what mistakes? u did great!

  • free hands and your arms need to be straight, its always good to extend too. this is a good routine, but it isnt sharp.

other then that very creative routine (:

  • tht was great!

  • i love the guy that randomly walks in the background :P

  • I like the silk :) It reminds me of our Cubism flags from last years marching show XD

  • I love that flag!

  • omg our school has the exact same flags

  • omigod we did this song for marching! check out wadsworth ohio marching band. its the first song! this was my favorite routine!

  • Make sure that ur feet are together and your shoulders are up. It shows that you have confidence in what you are doing. Great, original routine though :) it was very creative.

    -3

  • this is good. but your flag pole is def to short for this kind of work

  • This is amazing for one year of guard. Ive been in it for two and I'm trying out next thursday for captain. I will never be able to do stuff like that, but I'm gonna try and do my best(:

  • I'm glad to hear that you made captain that year. I liked the routine. Plus, I've only been in gaurd for one year. I wanna learn the thing where you hold the silk, and it wraps around your body! :D

  • your free arms were horrible! put them down girll! not cute*

  • FREE HANDS!!!!

  • Emotion!!!!! just add that

  • This is really good! I've been on colorguard for a year now and im going for captain next year! :D

  • you really need to add lower body movement to the choreography.. its the most important in colorguard. You need to be able to dance and do moves under the flag as well.

  • this is a really cool routine :) i like how you kept the flag moving

  • that was really good i am trying out for captain and it will be my second year in color guard

  • this was the show my guard did this past year.

    not bad at all

  • wow not bad

im the captian at my skool and if u dont mind a little constructive critisism here it is.....smile a little bit more and try not to use the same move more than twice. don't jump when you toss. other than that it was great =)

  • great!!

  • Goog job girly !

Im captain 4 my school too. Try to smile more :)

  • Wow this is really great for only having a year of color guard to go on :) I can tell you practiced a good long time too.

  • try not to jump when u toss n smile more :)) but you did great i love the flag :)

  • How tall are you??

  • it look really gud

  • this is goodd. (:

  • keep your feet on the ground and watch your tucks! other than that it was SUPER good :) hopefully you made it

  • Wow. Ourstian glass flags actually looked pretty and not completely destroyed at one time :P

  • @bbsportster04 Haha! I know exactly what you mean! If you look at my new video, you'll see our stained glass flags now. They are DEMOLISHED! We can't even use them anymore, I was so so sad

  • Keep working on it sweetie.

  • that was great when ii tried out ii only made it for co captain

  • well, i would vote for you to be captain, lol, that was pretty impressive :D

  • Whoa this is awesome!! I hope I can spin this good in one year :D

  • ...you were just going to be a sophomore when you did this!? omfg your so amazing.

  • Aw you did awesome!!! i've only been on guard for a year, i'm hoping i get captain next year!!!

  • Try a routine written after 1982

  • ahhhh short pole short pole short poleee! lmaoo

  • Awsome! I'm in 7th grade and trying out for colorgaurd. Can u tell me what tryouts are like and the basice we are going to have to do?

  • @taylorswiftrocksism I'm not sure how your school will conduct try-outs, but at mine I usually have the girls do three main things: Fight Song, Fundamentals, Routine. Fundamentals include the basic moves like drop spins, stirs, singles doubles, backscratchers and windmills. The school song is normally pretty simple so we make up a routine as well to go with it. If you wanna check out what a try-out routine then I have a pretty recenty video posted

  • @taylorswiftrocksism try outs for me is a 3 day period where the coaches teach us a couple of basics like

    Drop Spins**

    Pop Tosses**

    Singles**

also learning how to move correctly

    Jazz Walk**

    Jazz Run**

    Sote**

    chase**

  • @taylorswiftrocksism We also learned the cone toss because my directors loves them.

Basically during our tryouts he would have a group of 4 come in and he would tell us to start with something for example drop spins. we would start out correctly and count. same for everything else.

We also did movement because it is very important. ALWAYS GO LEFT FOOT FIRST! AND ALWAYS TOE HEEL!

  • @taylorswiftrocksism not that much your gonna do drop spins peggys carves drop stops and then you finally learn the tosses! xD

  • Great job! =)

I loved the guy randomly walking past during the rutine... ;D

  • lmfoa at the band director passing by and conducting xD

but for you 2dn year, its pretty good. and like others have said, and yourself, work on your free hand, keep your feet planted, and stop following your flag around with your head. look up and lift up with your body.

  • at my school we dont try out to be captain. well at least i didnt. my coach just told me that i was captain and that was it :)

  • Wow she rocks that flag!

  • is that a 5 foot pole? >.< ugh so short. no offense i just dont like spinning short poles... its weird for me

  • That pole looks really short! how tall is it?

  • @ameko1ikiru 5 foot

  • i love the silk toss that you put in. one of my friends last year was just messing around so it's really cool to see that in a routine!! :D kudos to you

  • that was great

  • u did so good omg i wish i knew how to do this stuff

  • work on keeping your feet more stationary when you toss.

don't follow the flag everywhere with you head either.

but very nice. did you make captain?

  • @hhswinterguard2009 Indeed I did ^.^ If you look at some of the more recent videos I have, you can see that I've done a little bit better >.< I'm coming up on my fourth year of guard now and this video was just starting my second, so it was definitely not praiseworthy by any means

  • i personally think its cool that you stepped up to be captain...even though you were younger...it doesnt matter how old you are, it matters how good you are.

  • your work is really cool! but i hope you improved your planes more. you for sure had a lot of burnt toast on that run! but i was the same way when i was a sophomore, and i became captain...

  • i wanna get back into guard now

  • i'm a freshmen captian and this is only my 4th season. but we only have one senior and two juniors and a bunch of 7th and 8th graders. we're a middle/high school guard.

  • I think you did very good for only having memorized the routine in one day. Very pretty flag too. Keep up the good work =)

  • This is really awesome! :D The only thing I would suggest is that you should keep your free hand on your hip when you're doing something that only uses one hand. It makes it look a lot more professional.

  • why do you hop during your parallels?

  • great job. i like how she kept the flag moving nonstop

  • congrats! i totally understand ur situation. we never had an instructor for a whole season and were amazed at what other guards could do! good luck with your upcoming season i hope you hav the time of ur life! =D

  • im on colorguard too its really fun and i like it and i like ur routine but u lifted ur heels a lot but u did GREAT!:)

  • i hope during the audition u were more into ur routine & more enthusiastic

  • that was the case my sophmore yr. all the upperclassmen graduated and we didn't have captains. complete and utter chaos. i was a captain my junior yr and gave it up for rifle my senior yr, but captains def worked a lot better. i know this vid is like a yr and a half old, but i have a suggestion. the work is pretty good, but try to incorporate some dance in there too. you seemed a little stiff. so did you make it? :)

  • The pole looks short! My team only uses 6 foot poles lol so that looks awfully short but I liked the routine :0 my guard has no teacher either so my friend and I are co-running the team this is our first year without a coach so wish us luck!

  • It was really good. But it seems like have the same problem as i do. lol You like to repeat things a lot. All of those flourishes behind you and stuff like that lol. But all in all it was good. Did you make Captian?

  • i think it depends on how many years a person has and who is the best.

  • this is great! even though I think only upperclassmen should be leaders.

  • I know. Everyone has told me that, but what everyone doesn't know is that we ARE the upperclassmen. Whenever I was freshman, there were no Sophomores or Juniors on the team, only the senior captains. So it left someone to step up, so I did.

  • @TheycallmeeT Well I totaly understand in situations likes that

  • sophomores shouldnt be captain.....but uh the work could use some....work.....

  • I'll be a senior next year.

That video was with only single marching season of training.

We're not a professional guard by any means...we don't even have a teacher, it's just up to us.

  • @TheycallmeeT thats exactly how we were we made it through a year with just us and also i need some help on some different flag tricks and things like dhat so if u can tell me some or if u kno where i can go to find some that would be great.....

  • @20lima13 Honestly? I've watched hundreds of youtube videos to get my moves :P Mostly winterguard things. If I see something that I like, I'll pause and rewind until I can see what they're doing and then test it out.

For example, we recently had a talent show at our school and I pulled a couple of things from a Lone Jack Winterguard at contest. If you wanna watch it, type in 'Three Days Grace Colorguard' and go to the 3rd one down

  • @BetchFaceee

i had been a captian of my guard since i was a sophomore! i am a jr. this yr.

i will be a captian for 3 years of my 4 years of high school.

and i have been on flag for 5 years and rilfe for 3 years i also haved been captain for 2(well this is the second year) and i still have one to go.

  • yeah, my guard has a sophomore captain and i'm a junior, and i don't mind.

  • Y IS THE FLAG SO TINY<

  • What length is your pole??? 5 1/2 feet??? If so, what length of the pole should the flag cover??

  • omg that flag is so small!

  • damn girl you it skill!

  • Nice flag work.

Although I don't think sophomores should be captain.

  • age has nothing to do with it. who deserves it and has the qualities of a captain is who should get it

  • I love the disclaimer in your info. column. I have those in like..all of my colorguard videos too! People can be harsh! Personally, I think that was awesome for just learning it! Whoo hoo!

  • Good job but when ur tossing watch ur free hand make sure it's at ur side

  • This is great! You are really good. Would you mind watching the video of my captain's routine and giving me tips?

  • geez! you were handling that flag like it was a toothpick- nice.

  • wow, your flag/pole is extremely short....what size pole is that?

  • It's 5 ft.

It may be short, but it's really easy to work with!

  • @TheycallmeeT ah. my guard uses 5 1/2 or 6 ft poles. lol. that's why it looks so small!! lol

  • good flag work! just try and use yur body more..and even though it is practice always go full out and PERFORM..just doing flag tosses isnt good enough for the higher level but u have good potential

  • toasters. and free hand.

  • That was amazing!!!U did awesome

  • use a six foot pole

  • thanks i was thinking that to lol

  • You jumped on your first toss! Your only suppost to use your upper body strength!

  • great video! you were a lot better than me when i was a sophmore! hope you got and and there are some awesome moves in there. i know it was a practice run but glue your free arm down! :)

  • my band did karnevil 9 for parade a few years ago

  • hey iam in color guard to do me a favor do they tell u to put your free hand in a fist on ur belly button cuz if we dont we get in trouble:) o ya to see our last routine type in ridgecrest parade home street midle school so post a comment and tell me

  • it is a CAPTAIN TRY OUT!!!!

there for it should be harder...

  • very good, just point your toes! =]

  • do you have a final video??

    after practicing and cleaning??

b/c if its this good now i can only imagine...

  • this song is awesome. what is it?

  • wow, she's a beast. my captain routine was NOTHING like that! but i still got head captain:)

  • that was our song for our tryout routine for either my freshman or sophomore year...

  • awesome girl!!!

  • i love the song. we are using the same one for my schools flag team and band

  • you did great!

  • Its so typical for a band director to go right pass by while conducting to the song lol. Nice job!

  • Drum Majors, too

    hahah xD

    unless that's just me... o.0

please tell me your DM(s) do that too

  • I am the drum major lol! Sometimes I probably would. I once caught myself conducting to a song in the grocery store.

  • hahah yea our dm's do that to lol

  • that was amazing! i'm in colorguard too haha

  • i bet you didnt make it, right?

  • Uhm...did actually =/

  • Yay! :D

    Congrats!

  • do you guys compete in like contest or anything? do you have a winterguard.? i'm captain of my color guard team and we don't do ANYTHING like that.

video search north royalton marching band to see what im talking about ;)

  • wow that was incredible!

we did the same song last season for our flag corp.

    goood job! (:

  • That was really good. You're a little bit bouncy on your tosses. I had the same problem going into the 10th grade. Practice makes perfect!

  • l0l nice my school did thiss song too for senior night my freshmann year :) lol good job!

  • umm wow your routine was amazing and so hard conmpared to mine we had drop spins windmills sun risres pop toses a toss and carves it was very easy and everybody made it but i know when season starts it will be way harder good luck and you did amazing

  • Very nice! You can twirl, but sometimes your hand positioning seems a little awkward. I know from experience how hard it can be to add movement under your twirling, but it would help you out a lot. Is there a dance instructor at your school, or do you have a friend who dances? I'm a captain this year and even the most complicating flag work can get boring. :) Love the silk! Keep twirling!

  • its really good. this is just from a random person watching but i think you need to add more dance. It kinda looks like your bored just tossing around a flag. you have talent though :) :]

  • awesome. we did this song for our feild show last year competed with it and got superior with it. great job. u should think about usign other equipment.

  • good work and its ovbious you can handle equitment very well, just mix it up and bit, show a range of things you can do....and it whouldn't be bad to throw more movment in under the flag work,(your feet stand still pretty much the whole time cept for the middle of the vid, where the work is exelent by the way!!!) but i still think its a great tryout rutine : ]

  • Okay so WOW, this was AMAZING! I'm a sophomore and I just started a few weeks ago. They are saying I do pretty well but there are some tosses and hand movements I am still working on but wow this completely and totally blew me away! I don't know if any of the girls in my guard can do this and we go to championships every year! This is soooo good! Keep up the good work! Hope you made captain! :D

  • i think you had some good tricks in there. just remember that your whole performance shouldn't be overpowerful. its ok to add basic flag and some foot movement or something.

but if i could give advice on one thing it would be your posture. coulders back and head up. it makes you look more demanding and powerful yet graceful. =] with that you would have a killer routine.

  • wow, that was pretty intense, where u spin?...and do u guys do winterguard?

  • Thanks :] Just a really small town, so no winterguard for us :[

  • watch your hand!!!!!!!1

  • Good job :)

I dont see why some instructors find it necessary for their kids to make up captain routines. I chose my captains based on the loyalty, dedication, willingness, and overall quality of their abilities as seen throughout previous seasons.

  • Awesome job I love birdland such a good song to doa routine to

  • Wow you have tons of energy for that routine. I got dizzy watching the flag. =)

  • wow that is really good im impressed as a captain

  • Yeh Im going to get the same flag as yours!

I liked it from the time I saw it online and now I have money so I can buy it! :P

  • I think you was really good! Im trying to think of a routine for mi co-captain tryouts

! and i really havnt go anywhere lol how did you leanr all those moves! i have been in guard for going on 3 years!

  • I've made up a couple of my moves just whenever I got bored, but most of everything else is just the basics that they taught us in the beginning :] I wish you great luck on your routine!

  • hmm free hands....

  • dudee....what's wrong with the band room????? and there goes hathcote randomly conducting!! lol!

  • soo plans remember them :D on some of your back scratcher or w/e you call them extensions butterflys w/e watch your plans you cut some of them off and then when writing try not to go back and for quickly between plains other wise good for a soft.
