I didn't follow LAK playing for the first 20 games or so, but I got interested when Kopitar was the leading scorer. Now when I have followed Kings closely, I have no idea how he did that as Kings always seem to be the more defensive team versus any team (except Ducks or so). Perhaps Smyths injury had something to do with the drought though.

Folks you gotta remember that points come from consistency. You gotta produce throughout the season, not just a random streak here and there. Take the last season for example. Ovechkin had very few points durin the beginning of the season because of personal reasons, but when he got at it he was 2nd in scoring. I'd say without further injuries its Crosby or Ovechkin who will win

You want consistency? Let's talk about Mikko Koivu. He is and has averaged more then a point per game this season and to top it off he is 60% at the faceoff and hasn't had a minus game since early November.

I'm not Finnish and I am pretty sure we dont have to worry about Koivu falling off the point per game pace too far. I'm a Wild fan and I've watched him develop into a consistent scorer and leader. He throws his weight around and scores dynamic highlight reel goals as well. What else are you asking out of a player?

I'm not saying Kopitar is a bad player, he is one of my favorites actually, but I'm just trying to get Koivu some attention as well.

yea i know what you are sayin and believe me i would love to see Koivu get more recognition but im just sceptic about finnish players. Actually im not a Kopitar fan at all so i don't care what people think about him :D My comment was aimed towards the fact that even though Kopi has done well now, he won't do so well throught the season. THats how i see it. i believe he won't be in the points top 3 after the season. Crosby Ovechkin and maybe Thornton will fill those spots

Ryan Getzlaf, Pavel Datsyuk and Joe Thornton are players that are at the very least, Kopitar's equal, Kopitar will slow down, not completely fall off the map but he should finish around 5-10 in the scoring race, Malkin, Crosby, Thornton, Getzlaf, Datsyuk are off to slow starts but will go on a tear soon enough.

a perfect example is Thornton just had 4 assists tonight and is now only 2 pts behind Kopitar, see how fast things turn around? if he remains a ppg here on out, he'll get 100 though.

Kopitar in his last 10 games has accumulated all but 1 goals and 6 assists LOL HAHA ITS STARTING ALREADY, Getzlaf is easily the more dominant player than Kopitar, hs playoff resume is fucking impressive, lead the StAnley cup champs in scoring in 07, had the highest points per game in the playoffs last year with 18 points in 14 games, 5 points behind Kopitar in 4 games less, so yeah Getzlaf is better.

You cant judge KOPI my his playoff resume because his team hasn't gotten there yet. The reson Kopi not doing good now is because Ryan Smyths injured they replace him with purcell who sucks. The only reason Getzlaf gets all those points are cause of his team mates Ryan Perry Salanne

The only reason Bobby Ryan is even at 10 goals is because of the vision and passin gof Getzlaf, most Duck fans agree that Getzlaf is there number one offensive and defensive centerman/player, the only 6'4 centerman under 25 years old I would tkae before Getzlaf is Malkin, and Kopitar is really struggling big time as of late, he's playing like Dustin Penner from the previous 3 years.

07? Martin Havlat lead all scorers with 30 in 20, Crosby won the scoring race

08? Paul Stastny and Zetterberg lead all scorers through the 1st 30 games, Ovechkin won the scoring race

09? Simon Gagne had 32 pts in 21 games, Malkin won the scoring race.

09/10? Kopitar has 32pts in 23 games, leads all scorers, so..................

yep...the season is very young still. Still a lot of Hockey to play. Malkin and Ovechkin missed a week with injuries and Crosby got off to a slow start but is also putting up a lot of points lately..

I think it will be very hard for Kopitar to keep this level of point production up all year. I like to see variety. but at the end of the day I gotta say it's either Ovechkin, Crosby or Malkin who wins the scoring race again. Sid has shit line mates still so prob Ovechkin or Malkin
