@Roadracer987654321 I hated the old "let's make the original series hip!" BS. I would have loved it if they made a movie with Captain Robert April and his soon to be wife Sara (Sarah was the chief medical officer of the Enterprise). Since the characters were not established completely (except in an unproduced script Gene Roddenberry wrote) It would be easy for Paramount to make him anyway they liked, without pissing off True Trekkers.

@TheOne2rulemall Math does not lie. Mathematically, Black holes are dead ends that suck in everything including time. Having close proximity around a black hole (AKA the secretion disc) will make you go forward in time. Only super Black holes have a worm hole in the middle but anyone getting close to it would die before reaching the black hole. It's been proven that Black holes are collapsed Stars.

I think Abrams did a great job, the only thing I didn't like, was that the villain in the movie, was the same villain that killed Kirk's father, I thought Nero destroying the Kelvin and also facing off against Kirk, was too closely related for one film. Sure have a drastic event kill his dad, but not the same villain that this one movie is about. i thought that was corny, other than that, I enjoyed the movie.

The Slugs used to extracted information The Wrath of Khan, The dialog from all Trek movies, The villain a poor copy of Kahn, Kirk a poor copy of Anakin Skywalker, Spock was the lead alien from "Plan 9 from Outer Space" "We have no emotions" later in the film "YOU HUMANS ARE SO STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!" And McCoy was Dr. Zoidberg "I thought you were happy, your tail was waging." This is the worst Trek film of all time!

@BondFreek i thought this film was great and i didn't particularly like the original series!

i thought it was visually stunning, the story-line was solid as a first one that explained where the characters came from, as far as setting up legends go this was pretty good there are many examples of poor opening story lines (Robin Hood)

the acting was good i loved Quinto and Pine in this, Bana was good also!

It left me wanting more and i can't wait for the new one!

@Bolton9000 This is such a bad movie. Snot nose criminals getting their own command, a villain so dumb that he makes Bevies and Butthead look like Steven Hawking. A teacher sleeping with a student does not tolerate other students cheating on a no win test. The super ship can't take one tinny ship hitting it but can wipe out two armadas; AND Black holes that suck in everything but spits out ships into the past then just disappear. The characters are tipical Hollywood cliché. THIS IS A BAD MOVIE!

But there is a fine line between exaggerated and utterly ridicules and the new Star Trek movie crossed that line over & over & over… In fact I lost count on how many times it crossed that line. The Shark in Jaws being blown up by an air tank was more believable than anything that happened in the new Star Trek.

And one more critique.....all the actors except the capt of the klingon ship and the captain of the enterprise were acceptable.Kirk was funny but immature and spock was ...wierd.Scotty was just unbelievable.(not the engineer type at all).And the ships bridge was too cramped and buisy and engineering seemed like it was set up in a big auditorium(phony)The story was entertaining. The klingon ship was too wide open and it seemed like a big trip and fall to your death kinda place(kinda stupid)WHY?

The only bad part in this movie was the turbo lift romance spock and uhura had.It was too juvenile and unrealistic.Sorry...just thought it shouldnt have happened as it was an unesseccary relational movie wrecker.Oh...and chekovs accent was overdone.And maybe sulu could have been cast better.He was a bit week and should have been a tougher character.

@VasticityStudios Really? In the original series they had some bond(Uhura sang while Spock played his Vulcan lute in one episode). I could definitely see them getting together. Uhura isn't a bubbly airhead for one and Spock does have a human mother so he won't be as prejudiced as full Vulcans might be.

The only weird thing about the movie is that it's got nothing to do with the original Star Trek. That was about sociology. It was about taking what we've learned about our own humanity and imagining how it might interact with that of many other intelligent species. It was boring. This movie is nothing like that.

It looks more serious than other versions of this epic genre.. I hope the director knows the importance of making it less polished. Its all about the script, and if you don't have genuine conflicts with credible chracters it won't sell. For instance the early Batman, Star Wars and Star Trek etc. almost had a childish and very polished look to it.
