Dell needs to take a good look at GNU/Linux and make more Linux-based OS computers than just the Inspiron 15n (optional Linux). I completely believe in free software, not just open source, thats why I went to Ubuntu. I can get the source code for all the programs I want, modify them as I wish, and give them our as my own, as I wish.

You wanna know a good company that is really a supporter of GNU/Linux with free software? System76. Google them.

Actually, Dell is more or less forced to do this. You can find loads of Dell laptops with FreeBSD or Ubuntu on them. And then there's Acer, who initially put Ubuntu on the 3ePC.

Don't think some of these companies don't want to sell you a computer with free software. You couldn't be more wrong.

@TheDesertDragon Yeah, all computer manufacturers are paid by Microsoft to sell machines with Windows, and some hardware manufacturers are paid to don't give support to non-Windows OSes. In some way we can say they're forced.

By the way, ACER DID NOT make the EEEPC, it's from ASUS. And they weren't sold with Ubuntu, they were sold with Xandros, based on Corel Linux which is/was based on Debian. Acer made the Aspire One, with Linpus. Both machines were sold with Windows XP too.

yeah, and they're still charging me OVER 100 BUCKS for a frickin proprietary battery. my Dell laptop now lasts 45 minutes on the battery and ive only had it 17 months. i paid EXTRA for the larger battery AND have been careful to do full cycles. You Suck, DELL!

Do you know why you don't see Coca-cola commercials anymore? Well, it's because the consumer buys Coca-cola without having the need to advertise mostly due to it being a trusted product. When a company is doing bad in business and is having trouble selling a product, then that company will need to publish a commercial. Does anyone know why Dell has so many commercials? cute video. I like dell a lot except for one small problem, which is that their earphone jack is hard to access, its angled upward and so it's hard to just plug it in. If your PC is on the floor you need to get down on your hands and knees, even if your Dell is on the desk you still have to bend over and angle your earphone plug just right to angle it upward. Our French class used earphones and we all found it frustrating.
