Okay ppl around here i have an odd bug i think. whenever i play a game i start with 0 population + 0 wood or stone. How can i fix this? The timer on the left bottot corner keeps displaying 0:00 aswell! Really weird.
Settlers 4 is still one of the best games ever, there r still some players playing online multiplayer games, especially the 6er randoms r great fun :)))
So which was the last one that had stockpiles and dudes carrying wood around--that was the best part of this franchise. Looks like they just keep boosting graphics and dumbing down gameplay. I'd trade sound and 3d for some pathing, road building and actual strategy. Any more this is just a bottom of the line AOE.
So is this more like Civ or AOE? As in do you get to have a full real time army to maim around or is it more like units on a chess board? I love how it looks but I never tried any Settlers before. And what's the DRM talk about, no good cracks out yet? I lost 60 bucks with that shit once, don't wanna buy another time bomb.
A better game comparaison would be Stronghold if you played it. It is very similar, but improved. If not, production/resources are similar to aoe, but the battle are pretty much like Civ I'd say.
Don't buy it to play multiplayer though, nobody is playing multiplayer.

@marcospippi Hi i got the game and am VERY dissapointed in it but delighted at the same time.... the army side of it is awful as u cant split up your army send them out to different places while some other troops are defending your castle etc etc... and like u said the wall system is terrible as it gives the gamer NO FREEDOM. They made it too compicated too... i still cant understand the the technology system and how to upgrade stuff ;p and when i try and go online their only like 3 ppl online !
@evertonjf08 This game is so amazing and very easy to figure out. Although I had a few scenarios that gave me grief in winning on Normal setting, so I switched to Easy mode. As for the splitting your army up... you can. You research a new General in the Tavern. You can research up to 4 others to give you a total of 5 separate armies. Each can have a total of 35 troops in each. I have np with graphics on high setting, although I play the game at 1360x768. Upgrading is also easy. Ask for help!
@DJHottRocks yeah i have upgraded my pc and it works great on it.... i only wish they kept some of the key features that made rise of an empire so succesful.... like you can build walls anywere... and expand and expand... xD thnx for clearing out the thing to do with the generals and army's although i still wish they kept it the same as rise of an empire like the wall, building and how you can control units.... 1/2

So if you are seeking someone to play against, I'm avail. I tend to stay up till about 5am every night. The latest I'm up is 7am. Yeah, I do miss being able to place walls wherever I want. At least we can do that in AOE2. I'm located in the same time zone as New York - Toronto E.S.T.

u can build a second army, but for that you need a second general. u can buy a second general at the tavern.

@simsfreak555 It is when a game have a limit of downloads (if it is digital) or a limit of installs (DVD-ROM) Etc, the spore DVD-ROM can only be used to install the game 5 times.. then the DVD-ROM is useless.. thye good thing about this is when a game have DRM, you dont need a nocd-crack or the disc to play it, if you used all 5 installs on etc spore, and want to install it again, you need to buy a new copy of the game.. so overall conclution: DRM IS ONE BIG FAIL FOR ALL NEW GAMES ON DVD OR DL!!

@samhamels depends on what your video card can output at. I use High & few medium settings & display it at 1920x1080. I uncheck cloud settings. No point of having it on since you will never be looking at the clouds in the game.

@samhamels Hi samhamels, the main goal for a RTS game is for about 30fps which is reasonably smooth. First person shooters naturally need more fps for aiming.

In my opinion: YES xD.
but what i miss in settlers 7 is that you can't build walls everywhere like settlers 6.
you only can get a wall when you upgrading you castle when it have a ruined wall.

@samhamels depends on what your video card can output at. I use High & few medium settings & display it at 1920x1080. I uncheck cloud settings. No point of having it on since you will never be looking at the clouds in the game.

@Revan658 the point in clouds is the drop shadow that falls on the ground and adds to the game atmosphere. :)

@Revan658 what videocard does your computer use? i have the settlers:rise of an empire and i get nothing but lag with my graphics. I have to play dawn of war II on the lowest settings.

@samhamels Hi samhamels, the main goal for a RTS game is for about 30fps which is reasonably smooth. First person shooters naturally need more fps for aiming.
