  • Dayron the best,,,Xian better retires

  • robert can run 10.0x in 100m , liu can just ran 10.3x in 100m... so liu has much better techni ! If robert have the techni what liu has.... that will be horrible!!!... may be 12.7x ?

  • Qué clase 'e locoooo Hablando English y to' jaja What a surprise!

  • VIVA CUBA!!!

    IN YOUR FACE US!!!

  • cuba my ass.that nigga from DETROIT!

  • hi "porn1978" what is 1+1?

  • hi "slooke".1+1= me n ur moma

  • that shit funny porn.lol

  • LMAO thanks

  • Hahaha

  • LOL

  • hahaha

  • Habla ingles yuh huu!! Go Cuba!!

  • lol when they interviewed liu xiang at athens he was all like: IM HERE TO PROVE NOT ONLY BLACK PEOPLE CAN RUN FAST!

  • lolololol jajaja

  • yes GO CUBA!

  • Good luck for Robles! He's just a good example for the rest of the athletes !

  • i love watching the exchange of broken english lol.

  • Yeah , english is ''perfect'' .

But it doesn't matter really . Cuz if u run that fast , speaking stays behind . :P

  • i don't have a problem with it because it aint his native language, it was just funny because both him and the reporter were going back and forth with it

  • Yeah , agree . :)

  • Seriously

  • Robles is still young compared to 'oldish' Xiang, and can probably improve his own times if he develops better technique. I think Xiang has reached maximum potential already, so I think Roble will win GOLD at Olympics. Plus Xiang has injured Hamstring.

Hurdling is relatively niche sport, compared to 100M sprint. The records will easily tumble if MORE people (esp American runners) are interested in breaking it.

  • esta bueno desde cuando habla ingles pero bien ello

  • Boo! to all the people who have been discussing race in this scenario. Robles is the best in the world and that's it. And especially because he's Cuban and doesn't have the economic advances available to athletes from developed countries we should congratulate him even more. He did it out of pure hard work!

  • yep. love to see when the cubans with no money, facilities etc. , succed.

  • bro u dont need money to become some1

  • so very true diablito1824.

  • Wow, congrats to him. Cubans always do so well at the Olympics, always win the most gold medals of Latin America, every time!

  • No question Robles is faster over the flat but as elegant a hurdler as he seems I'd have to say Liu is a bit better technically. Liu also has the experience and he's a proven winner so he can deal with the pressure. However the pressure of a whole country on your shoulders is a different story altogether.

The final in Beijing should be fascinating.

  • robles has better technique than xiang but they do have different styles. lui lets his body twist alot off hurdles and robles is 6"4 so obviously he has a different set of problems

  • Robles has put himself right into the frame for Bejjing. He's got a great chance of emulating what his countryman Anier Garcia did 8 years earlier

  • oh,poor liu xiang

  • strong !!! ^^

  • I see Robles as the faster of the two on raw speed and technically he is very good, but I think Xiang while not having the raw speed is technically just slightly better. Interesting race to come in Beijing.

  • Liu Xiang will smash this guy

  • providing he makes it to the track healthy, and runs the race we all know he can he will win the olympics, liu zhang is not even on this guys level as an athlete, look at all the championship final liu has won, he's had no challeng, athens 04 - allen out in heats, besides then he's had no challenge, again robles out in the 08 indoors, so it will interesting, but this time providing robles makes the final i can't se him being beaten

  • how cant u see him getin beaten ! he aint a championship performer and liu is and liu has run .01 slower than him you can hardly say he is not on the same level as dayron cos thats absolute rubbish

  • fair enough xiang is proven at championship level, but has never had the weight of a true challenger in a chapionship final, name one please as maybe i have missed something, trammell? probably the greatest performer to never hit 12.9, but we will see, personally, robles in my view is a different species, been on world scene for two seasons and already wr? we will see....

  • i think the olympic final is a challenge in itself , being in lane 8 in the world championship final were he has not had the best year! (tremell hit a 12.99 in that race) n wat did liu run .....12.95 pretty fast and he won which is the most important thing..... wait wait wasnt dayron 4th in dat race!! but ye he is a talent

  • how the hell can you say Liu isn't on this guy's level athletically. Liu won a gold medal at the Olympics...that's basically the ultimate athletic competition. I hate how people always call a black sportsman an "athlete" but non-blacks are just smart or lucky to get there. Its racist on both sides.

  • Xiang has beat a ton of great hurdlers! Robles for one, and also Allen, Ladji, Oliver, Trammell, Arnold, and every other top hurdler in the world - especially at a time where ~ 5 men can run sub 13!! This is the most competitive time in 110mh history! By the way Trammel has run sub 13.

  • Haha well I will say robles is fast yes, but clearly you don;t follow hurdles. Liu has raced against everyone, even robles and beat him. You watch the world championships, or reebok tour, or golden spike? Robles and Xiang are on the same level, but this will make a very exciting olympics. I'm exicted to see if robles can stay consistent since this mark is a huge jump from his season PR of 13.20. I think either robles or xiang will lower it at the big show.Americans probably not=(

  • So right, some people just make comments and dont follow the sport properly. The hurdles is a very difficult race. With a fast track, every athlete healthy and good weather conditions the record should go again. I suspect the same with the 100m for men. But this will be a very interesting race.

  • Robles actually ran 12.92 last year. And congrats to him on a beautiful race!

  • His lifetime Pr was 12.92, which showed he had it in him. I was just surprised with the jump from his SEASON Pr of 13.20 all the way to 12.87. I hope he didn't peak too early. So Xiang, Robles, and Oliver seem to have a chance.

  • Oh yes, his SR was 13.20. Yeah it should be a great final at the Olympics! I feel bad for American hurdlers because there are so many of them that are world class, but only 3 get to go to The Olympics!

  • Haha, i'm no racist but let's face it that black people are best most natural athletes in the world look at Usain Bolt and Michael Johnson.

  • And Haile Gebrselassie, Kenenisa Bekele, Carl Lewis, Hicham El Guerrouj (fifty-fifty)...

  • I'm African American and I agree, but what does that have to do with anything? As a fan of the sport, I don't care what color the athlete is...it's all about the performance!

  • Try looking at other sports such as swimming, biking, skiing, or hockey. To say any race - not individual - is superior is just not possible. Jon Edwards could outrun Lindford and Colin Jackson over 30m. Also, the woman's 100m Olympic and world junior champions are both white. It's an excuse for a poor performance yourself and also devalues the performances of talented athletes by saying they have a genetic edge from birth. All you need to do it look around to see past the stereotypes.

  • The women's olympic champion is such a bad example. She was clearly taking something. Let's face it, she never was close to sub-11 races before Athens and will never go there again.

There are some small genetic differences between us and it shows on the track, at least when it comes to sprint distances.

  • Well you can point fingers at anyone and say they take drugs, but unless they test positive, you can't prove anything. Like I said, look at the world junior 100/200 champ and what about Konstantinos the 200 champ from Sydney? Or even Wariner right now. I would say there is a greater chance of someone of west African decent having a "fast gene," but you can't say an entire race is good at something, that's just ridiculous. I feel it's an excuse to lose to say someone is genetically superior.

  • Kenteris = drugs. That's fact.

Wariner is really good, but apart from Johan Wissman he is the only white runner who can run a sub-45. The majority of all world class sprinters is black.

The truth is that black runners run better than white because of "better" genes. The ones I train with all have such beautiful technique, even if they don't run fast times. This really sounds racist in my ears, but I promise you that's not what I intended it to.

  • Yeah I've heard bad things about Kenteris, so I won't argue that. I agree that there are a great number of fantastic black runners, but I don't believe it's not possible for them to be beaten by any other race. Xiang is a perfect example. China is just getting into track and western sports, and they are starting to really do well. Even in distance running there are lots of greats like Nurmi, Viren, Motram, Radcliffe, Noguchi, and Zatopek that aren't black.

  • When it comes to hurdling it's a different matter. The technique required to hurdle well is something everone can train and improve.

I also think it's different when it comes to long distances. It tends to be more even between the races. One reason why there are so many good black long distance runners is because of where they come from. African countries aren't that developed and many people live on high altitude in east Africa.

  • Very true. Still have to be very quick on the 100 flat to run a 12.88 110m hurdles! But I still hate it when people say things such as "oh he can run fast because he is black." Most non athletes don't understand the type of training that goes into being a world class athlete.

  • Of course you have to train hard even though you happen to have the right genes. Black men and women aren't necessarily better at sprint distances than white, for example, but there sure is more of them in the elite.

  • Why would you ever bring race into this conversation? That's so 100 years ago!

  • Would have been nice to actually see it...

  • That's amazing! Huge challenge to Liu in the Beijing Olympics.

  • Well done!

  • Dayron, la máquina en los 110mH, eres el mejor, FELICIDADES!!!
