Does anyone remember an old beer commercial with two drunks drinking in a bar and one turns to the other and slurs "are you making fun of me?" and the other slurs back "I'm not making fun of you." I used to see that as a kid and wondered if it has ever shown up on YouTube. I don't even remember what brand it was for. Reply back if you remember it too.
I was told that this was my grandpas choice of beer, and they came in a 5-pack that were 16 0z cans. He would drink a 5 pack of those every night for a long time.
I remember a Distributor on Troy avenue Brooklyn New York delivering this Junk to all the Neighborhood drunks from Albany ave to E49th Street from Cortelyou ave to Ave J. and by the case load, and if you ran short there was always the 4 Bars on ave D to keep you from standing up straight.
@thewillofthe313 haha, me 2!! I just finished watching that GG episode and decided to look up the commericial, but this jingle is not the one that the GG's sing in the hospital waiting room. Hmmm. Maybe there are others. I'd have to see. :)
"Dry" beer back then didn't mean the same thing it did in the 90s. In the 50s, beer was frequently advertised as 'dry" to distinguish it from many that were on the sweet side (like today).
It was a good light lager beer. There were lots of independant breweries. Now, there are only a handful of breweries to service the entire country. Enter the mini-brewery. They cater to a small local geographical area. You will pay for the beer; but it will be good.
I still miss Rheingold and Piels......Remember the goofy Piels ads?
I worked with this old dude back in the 80s, and he was still proud back in the 50s whatever year it was a neighbor of his in Brooklyn won that year's Miss Rheingold pageant!
my dad used to drink rheingold and he'd take me to the tavern with him. i'd sit next to him on a stool with an orange soda while dad got drunk. can't bond with your kids like this anymore. no wonder there are so many absentee dads.
I guess it dates me to say I do remember this ad as well as the Miss Rheingold contests each year. Voting ws done in the neighborhood grocery store. Good old days!
Ahhh this is what the world looks like in my head lol

Oh I'm sorry. The correct answer was Budweiser.
Tough luck but at least you get the home version of our game and our thanks for playing.

Rheingold. German name, and the jingle sounds like something one would hear at a 1930's Nazi party rally.

I remember when Rheingold was the # 1 sponsor of the New York Mets.
