Where do you get this from? 99% of Marines wont give a shit if someone likes to go around saying "oohrah" it just makes the person saying it look like a retard. Its not offensive towards Marines at all....I guarantee that.
Perhaps just saying, Thanks for your service, will get a better response for you when dealing with Marines. I have been around Marines for almost 50 years and volunteered work for the Corps for the past 19 years, no Marine wants you to be embarrassed. In general you are correct, only Marines say Semper Fi to each other. I got in the habit many years ago when a USMC Major General said it to me, after presenting me with a "Letter of Appreciation" from the Corps for my service to the Marine Corps.
The F/A-18 C/D Hornet and Super Hornet E/F are the primary fighter/strike aircraft of the Marine Corps and US Navy respectively. Some units of of the Navy fly the Super Hornet E/F models which are replacing the older C/D models over time.
The F-35 is scheduled to relace the F/A-18 in the future for both services.
Could anyone please tell me the height requirement and any other physical requirements they know of for becoming a Fighter Pilot in the USMC? I can't seem to find any of this information anywhere else.
and on top of that NAVCAD programs ARE NOT a source for the Marine Corps aviators. NAVCAD grads commission as ensigns in the U.S. Navy, and proceed to flight training. The Marine Corps requires USMC Officer Candidate School completion, a 4 year college degree, than 6 months of TBS, followed by about 2 years of flight training before going out to the operating forces Only acception is Naval Academy grads who commission as 2ndLts after 4 years at USNA as Marine Option and proceed directly to TBS.
My question is, how can one be a Marine Corps Officer and aviator without college? its impossible. You attend OCS, and upon completing that you have to graduate college to commission as a 2ndLt. And how could he have flown C130's and A-4s? They're two completely different platforms that both require alot of training time (2 years worth for each of them). I've never heard a Marine aviator flying heavy cargo props AND jets. No offense or anything but It just sounds strange to me.
It cannot be inherited, Nor can it ever be purchased, You and no one alive can buy it for any price. It is impossible to rent, and it cannot be lent. You alone and our own have earned it with your sweat, blood and lives, You own it forever. The Title, United States Marine. Work hard and study in school, talk to your local Marine Corps Recruiter and visit the Marine Corps internet site for more info on becoming a Marine. Semper Fi.
Well, you have to be a Marine Officer to fly planes, which means you have to make it through Officer Candidate School, and The Basic School, than API and follow on training way before you even get close to an F/18. Lets just say this, OCS is 10 weeks, TBS is 6 months, and flight training is about 2 years....long time and alot of work.
Im actually setting up my application for PLC Air as well.. Either pilot or NFO.. i havent decided. I especially like the fact that if you go NFO, you are guaranteed either the F/A-18 or the Prowler.
Well, my dad is somewhat wary of it right now. After everything is settled with him and if i get accepted then my first 6 months will be this summer as well. What year of college are you in?
Oops, the F/A-18 is the Marine Corps primary aircraft with just about every fighter and attack squadron and wing fying the Hornet. The exception is squadrons flying the AV8-B Harrier II. The F/A-18 Hornet replaced the A-4, A-6 and F-4's for the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps has hundreds of F/A-18's.
Love the Hornet, cant wait to fly one. Still..... I WANT A FUCKIN TOMCAT!!!!!

The Marine Corps flies the C/D models but they do NOT fly the Super Hornet (E/F models).
daw211 3 years ago
Oops! Damn I hate it when I am wrong.
The Marine Corps does not currently operate nor do they have any immediate plans to procure or operate the F/A-18 E/F super hornet.
