  • Love the Hornet, cant wait to fly one. Still..... I WANT A FUCKIN TOMCAT!!!!!

  • some of the 18's arnt ours

    we dont have super hornets

  • @SimondetArthur Its a thing from marine to Marine, but now adays, just being treated with much respect from the general public, it is alllll good!!!

  • Makes my member stand at attention. Just two more years, man college really drags on when you are waiting for this.

  • God bless USMC Combined forces!

    HooRahh Hard Chargers!

  • Sorry if it is n00b!$h, but what does VMFA-xx, VMA-xx and/or VFA-xx mean?

I know what VMA-xx is (Marines). And VFA-xx is Navy. And VMFA-xx is Marines and Navy, but what are those V's,M's,F's and A's standing for?

  • Lets see if I can help.

    V- Fixed Wing

    M- Marine Corps

    F- Fighter (Primarily Air/Fleet defense)

    A- Attack (Ground attack Capabilities)

    also:

    (AW)-All Weather

    (N)- Night capabilities

  • Okay, thank you very much.

  • Currently training for OCS ohh rah marines!! FUCK YEAH

  • The A-10 Thunderbolt and the FA-18 Hornet.

Two of the most feared silhouettes on the battlefield.

  • Oorah to that! USMC 2008-2012 (Training to be a pilot)...Semper Fidelis! Get Some!

  • always faithful

  • Or spout Ooh-Rah.

Nothing's more annoying than someone using a phrase that's reserved for those who've gone through hell and back.

  • Where do you get this from? 99% of Marines wont give a shit if someone likes to go around saying "oohrah" it just makes the person saying it look like a retard. Its not offensive towards Marines at all....I guarantee that.

  • Perhaps just saying, Thanks for your service, will get a better response for you when dealing with Marines. I have been around Marines for almost 50 years and volunteered work for the Corps for the past 19 years, no Marine wants you to be embarrassed. In general you are correct, only Marines say Semper Fi to each other. I got in the habit many years ago when a USMC Major General said it to me, after presenting me with a "Letter of Appreciation" from the Corps for my service to the Marine Corps.

  • I am Australian but this is still a great vid

    thanks

  • sweet vid. waigt, but dont the usmc have harriers to?

    anyways great vid!:):)

  • The U.S. Marine Corps operates the

    AV8-B Harrier II.

  • @TJDOZIER1 The Marines also have F/A-18C and D Hornet.

  • OORAHH! Leathernecks of the Sky!

  • They're called Flying Leathernecks actually.

  • beautiful video

  • I thought it was replacing the Harrier?

  • correct me if im wrong, but doesnt the f/a 18 belong to the Navy, and has been upgraded from the f/a 18 hornet to the f/a 18 superhornet

  • The Marine Corps flies the C/D models but they do NOT fly the Super Hornet (E/F models).

  • Oops! Damn I hate it when I am wrong.

The Marine Corps does not currently operate nor do they have any immediate plans to procure or operate the F/A-18 E/F super hornet.

  • The F/A-18 C/D Hornet and Super Hornet E/F are the primary fighter/strike aircraft of the Marine Corps and US Navy respectively. Some units of of the Navy fly the Super Hornet E/F models which are replacing the older C/D models over time.

The F-35 is scheduled to relace the F/A-18 in the future for both services.

  • naaahh

the F/A-18 hornet and super hornet have different body designs and the super hornet is 25% bigger than the normal hornet

    there. i corrected you

    nothingtoitbutttodoit

  • Could anyone please tell me the height requirement and any other physical requirements they know of for becoming a Fighter Pilot in the USMC? I can't seem to find any of this information anywhere else.

  • talk to a Marine Corps Officer Selection Officer. He'll help you out.

  • It should be the same as the Navy's

  • meaning you're good to go, I believe you.

  • alright, good to go.

  • and on top of that NAVCAD programs ARE NOT a source for the Marine Corps aviators. NAVCAD grads commission as ensigns in the U.S. Navy, and proceed to flight training. The Marine Corps requires USMC Officer Candidate School completion, a 4 year college degree, than 6 months of TBS, followed by about 2 years of flight training before going out to the operating forces Only acception is Naval Academy grads who commission as 2ndLts after 4 years at USNA as Marine Option and proceed directly to TBS.

  • My question is, how can one be a Marine Corps Officer and aviator without college? its impossible. You attend OCS, and upon completing that you have to graduate college to commission as a 2ndLt. And how could he have flown C130's and A-4s? They're two completely different platforms that both require alot of training time (2 years worth for each of them). I've never heard a Marine aviator flying heavy cargo props AND jets. No offense or anything but It just sounds strange to me.

  • write your congressman

  • Semper Fi Marines!!!

I want to be a Marine Corps Pilot.

    Got any advice?

  • It cannot be inherited, Nor can it ever be purchased, You and no one alive can buy it for any price. It is impossible to rent, and it cannot be lent. You alone and our own have earned it with your sweat, blood and lives, You own it forever. The Title, United States Marine. Work hard and study in school, talk to your local Marine Corps Recruiter and visit the Marine Corps internet site for more info on becoming a Marine. Semper Fi.
  • Well, you have to be a Marine Officer to fly planes, which means you have to make it through Officer Candidate School, and The Basic School, than API and follow on training way before you even get close to an F/18. Lets just say this, OCS is 10 weeks, TBS is 6 months, and flight training is about 2 years....long time and alot of work.

  • and talk to an OSO.

  • You mean you want to fly the F-35 I take it.

Study hard, stay out of trouble, and remember your dreams. I'll be watching for you on the flight line in the future.

  • B-fuckin-eautiful.

I am in USMC PLC Air, with hopes of one day doing just that. Semper Fi

  • I hope to one day see you in an F/A-18.

    Semper Fi.

  • Im actually setting up my application for PLC Air as well.. Either pilot or NFO.. i havent decided. I especially like the fact that if you go NFO, you are guaranteed either the F/A-18 or the Prowler.

  • Yea, they both have pros and cons. i am going pilot. When are you going to Quantico? I am doing my first six this summer.

  • Well, my dad is somewhat wary of it right now. After everything is settled with him and if i get accepted then my first 6 months will be this summer as well. What year of college are you in?

  • its not usmc who has fa-18 its the navy who flys em not the marines

  • Oops, the F/A-18 is the Marine Corps primary aircraft with just about every fighter and attack squadron and wing fying the Hornet. The exception is squadrons flying the AV8-B Harrier II. The F/A-18 Hornet replaced the A-4, A-6 and F-4's for the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps has hundreds of F/A-18's.

  • no such thing as a former Marine.... Once a marine always a marine!

  • oorah!

  • @johnson681 OHHHH RAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!! devil dog!!!!
