It is no longer self defense when they no longer pose a threat, they instantly pose an add'l threat after they were instructed to stay down and they proceeded to get up. If he had allowed them to get up, these women who were bold enough to strike a man in his face then climb over a counter and chase after him after he walked away could have harm him and everyone in there. If it was me in that situation and I got them down, if you move again, you die. I mean put yourself in his shoes.

Everyone needs to remember. Those women physically attacked him. He walked away. They both approached him, one in front another in back. He struck them until they fell to the ground. He stopped and yelled stay down* one of them proceeded to get up so he struck her again. How in the hell is this not self defense?

If you look at the actions of the employees, he struck them again while the camera was not on him... AFTER the girl in black tried to get up once. We can't see the CCTV footage from behind the counter so it's not fair to comment re: reasonable force or not.

No released video shows exactly what those 2 women were doing behind there on the floor. Just because somebody is hit a few times and is on the floor does not mean the danger is gone. You can still shoot with 1 arm.

I think they were moving around (probably in pain but who knows at the time) and it provoked further hits from the pole from the cashier.

I have recieved training in the military, nuclear security, and private security. The way that each of those addresses the appropriate level of force differs. Additionally, in the heat of the moment it can be hard to control ones' actions or to make an actual clear choice on the level of force to use. A 2 on 1 fight is not a good situation to be in, and can skew ones' perception greatly.

That being said, I believe he may have gone too far, but I was not there or involved in the incident.

That is from your perspective watching a video. Too far is a tough question because in a self defense circumstance one can never know whether or not the attacker will continue to attack or whether or not they have a weapon. I think to question a persons judgment call is ridiculous because they were in the circumstance not us. They attacked him and looked to do bodily harm. It just so happened he got the upper hand on them both. If he did not use the bar they could have done him serious injury.

I think the point where it is to much is the point where you're not reacting out of fear for your well-being, but out of the pleaser of vengeance. I understand what you are saying. It's a subjective question. I mean, if someone broke into your house, is it too far to kill them? One might argue all you had to do is shove them out of your house. I don't think he went too far. I think he wanted to beat them until they no longer posed a threat, and that was the judgment he made at the time. There were long pauses where he did not strike them again. But really when you are defending yourself you must squash the threat, I don't think he went too far.

2. You can see that she DID try to get up and he had to subdue again.

3. How do we know she wasn't still calling him a pussy when she was on the ground? If that's the case, it's no wonder he went back for a 3rd time.

I thought he was quite restrained, he ran away from them and was hung out to dry by the staff did nothing to restrain the women. When cornered he picked up first thing to hand , he defended himself effectively and didn't kick them just kept them subdued with what was after all a rather flimsy weapon. There should be no 'too far' when it comes to self defense, or teaching some thugs a lesson. The law certainly started off defending the average citizen, but it gradually grew to emancipate our natural right to protect ourselves. We should all be allowed to defend ourselves with nonreciprocal force against any aggressor. He only hit them 4 times after the initial fight stopped. Two times on camera and two off camera. That's no big deal. You can't see the girls, they could have been trying to take his weapon. I'll gladly hit someone if they try to rip the weapon out of my hands.
