That wavering sound is sometimes called 'rumbling' and it is to warn other cats in an aggressive way, and to show dominance. Basicly, the deeper sounding the rumble is, the bigger the cat's chest cavity, which means the bigger the cat. So they do this to warn each other, or to scare off the other cat. Basicly its the cat saying "I'm big, listen to how big I am, I will kick your butt."

@GreenEyedGhostGirl Its agression, these cats were fighting and saying "Get lost, this is my place, all these females are mine and everything here is mine" It will usually end with one cat chasing off the other with its claws.
Just like humans will have a good yell at eachother before punching the nearest douche's face into a table.
@VoVikMakaR Actually this is in spain...i speak russian english and spanish...I'm from lithunia but i lived in england 8 years :) the person laughing like crazy was my friend.... :) yes and russian cats are crazy T_T
@VoVikMakaR well people speak many languages ;) we have the ability to learn ^^ so it doesnt mean it has to be in russian because 2 russian friends ( my mum ^^ ) spoke russian with her russian friend...im english :)
